Kaia Bennett is a New Jersey native, U.S. Army veteran, and martial artist who holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Rowan University and is working on her Master of Fine Arts at Fairleigh Dickinson University. When she’s not geeking out over music, movies, astrology, tattoos, or art, she can be found in front of her laptop, reminding herself not to bite her nails while she agonizes over a turn of phrase.

Kaia is a lover of all genres, a voracious reader, and a great believer that the journey is just as important as the destination. She’s an erotic author who aims to write stories with diversity, depth, realism, and viscerally hot encounters, revealing the taboo and tender sides of her characters and readers alike.

Has it taken longer than expected to release me from it's bonds of servitude? Yes. But I finish what I start. I literally couldn't go on to write the next stories in the Shivers and Sins series, let alone any other book I have in the queue, if I gave up on the end of Evie's arc. I think if anything, what has really died is my sense of doubt and inertia, as well as a personal period of upheaval in my own life. It's closer to being done than it was and if it's not finished this year, it absolutely will be in 2020. Thanks for the question and for your patience!(less)

Yes, the next two volumes at least will be a continuation with these same characters. I like the idea of using Shivers and Sins as a chance to tell different stories with different protagonists in this world, but right now I still have to get through Evie and Jesse's part of the tale. Thanks for the question and I'm glad you're looking forward to more!(less)

“Oh, give it a rest, will you? You're no victim. You got to come and I got a bloody lip and a smacked face for the trouble.”
Kaia Bennett, Sunday

“I never said I wanted to get married! You did. And can you blame me for not wanting to? Who would? Who in their right mind would want to live this way, besides people who are too scared to do anything else? Have you seen my parents? I sure as fuck don’t want to live like this! Not as your husband, not as your boyfriend.”
Kaia Bennett, #1 Crush

“We try on different dresses, different selves, but our souls are always the same - ongoing, full of light.”
Francesca Lia Block, Psyche in a Dress

“history only existed in the human mind, subject to endless revision. 'each man kills the thing he loves'-Oscar Wilde. You kill it before it kills you, but he was wrong. you killed it by accident. thinking you were doing something else. shattering, when all you wanted to do was keep it safe.”
Janet Fitch, Paint it Black

“So much wanting and longing, clutching, desiring, passion and hatred and terrible need. Here, death was suitable, there was room for it, the grip of life's relentless urges slackened, replaced by this icy simplicity. This wasnt her death. It was his. That was the sad and honest truth. Though it would stay with her, it would be more like a black onyx heart on a silver chain, worn privately, under her clothes, close to her body, all her life. The guilt, the beauty, everything. It wasnt over, it had only begun. Well ok then, Okay.”
Janet Fitch, Paint it Black

“So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.”
F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

“He smiled understandingly-much more than understandingly. It was one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life. It faced--or seemed to face--the whole eternal world for an instant, and then concentrated on you with an irresistible prejudice in your favor. It understood you just as far as you wanted to be understood, believed in you as you would like to believe in yourself, and assured you that it had precisely the impression of you that, at your best, you hoped to convey.”
F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
