Diane | 2044 comments Ha! I've read all of these! It is a short list, though.

Lol! Was bound to happen eventually. There's only three books here I haven't read:

1) Suite francaise
2) All Souls' Day
3) A Bend in the River

I'll vote for any of these depending on what other people want, but do have a preference for Suite Francaise (which is on audio on Scribd).

Diane and Amanda, you didn't wait for the full list I think. So maybe there is more. I saved half way through so that I would not lose everything like I did last time.

I've read 22 of them. I have several that I am would be interested in because I own them;
18. At Swim-Two-Birds 1939, 239 pages
21. Wise Blood 1952, 256 pages
25. At Swim, Two Boys, 2001, 2001, 562 pages
29. Burmese Days, 1934, 276 pages
42. Life of Christ, 1921, 424 pages
49. Dictionary of the Khazars, 1983 354 pages

Ooop, yep I did jump the gun there. Turns out there are 11 total I haven't read.

In addition to the first 3 I put up (suite francaise, a bend in the river, all souls day), I could also vote for At-Swim two Boys, Life of Christ, or Dictionary of Khazars from Kristel's list.

message 7: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tstan) | 559 comments I’ve read 47. I’ll probably sit this vote out.

I've read 18 of these, but I have a few on my TBR shelf:

- Girl with Green Eyes (O'Brien)
- Cataract (Osadchy)
- A Tale of Love and Darkness (Oz)
- Dictionary of the Khazars (Pavic)

Since some interest has been shown for the Khazars, I will support that option; this one also gives me an opportunity to read in French, which I haven't done for a while.

message 9: by Valerie (new)

Valerie Brown | 835 comments I've read 12, which is probably the most for any of our groupings.

I intend to read The Violent Bear It Away this year, so will vote for that.

message 10: by Diane (new)

Diane | 2044 comments Ok, much better. I have read 44 of these. The only book others mentioned that I haven't read is At Swim Two Boys.

I also wouldn't mind reading:

Nineteen Seventy Seven
Manon des Sources
The Talk of the Town
The Ragazzi
Marius the Epicurean

message 11: by Dan (new)

Dan | 31 comments At Swim-Two-Birds for me

message 12: by Gail (new)

Gail (gailifer) | 2095 comments I have read 10 of these so as usual, I am open and flexible. I could see voting for and reading Swim Two Boys...

message 13: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Dawn | 1660 comments Well since several other people mentioned it I'm going for At Swim Two Boys.

Diane | 2044 comments Amanda wrote: "Well since several other people mentioned it I'm going for At Swim Two Boys."

I will, as well.

message 15: by Pip (new)

Pip | 1822 comments I have read 20, and the only ones I have on hand are in my TBR list, so I am happy to read whatever gets chosen, as long as I can get hold of copies.

MaryAnn (EmilyD1037) These are the ones I would be interested in reading.

Their Eyes Were Watching God
Cry, the Beloved Country
Wise Blood
Life of Christ by Giovanni Papini
The Things They Carried

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

Excluded from the randomiser just one book Choke as this has been BOTM twice previously

message 18: by Amie (new)

Amie (amie-b) | 80 comments I have read 7. For me that's a lot. Lol. I would really like to read Suite Francaise. I've been planning on reading for a long time and I have a copy sitting on my shelf.

message 19: by George P. (last edited Sep 22, 2020 07:05PM) (new)

George P. | 697 comments I have read 18, so about my usual 1/3rd.
My 1st choice would be Suite Francaise, which is currently #30 in my TBR list, but would also like to read
one of the Nootebooms (Rituals, All Souls Day) partly because somehow I have yet to read a book by a Dutch writer,
or At Swim, Two Boys
or Pluck the Bud and Destroy the Offspring.

The randomizer picked Black Box

message 21: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Dawn | 1660 comments Cool: pretty happy At Swim, Two Boys won, already read black box so I'll forgo that one.

message 22: by Diane (new)

Diane | 2044 comments Sweet. I will read At Swim. I already read Black Box.

message 23: by Gail (new)

Gail (gailifer) | 2095 comments Same here. I have already read Black Box but am planning to read At Swim

message 24: by George P. (last edited Oct 06, 2020 09:08AM) (new)

George P. | 697 comments I'd like to read both of these but can only fit in one, so will read At Swim. Two Boys. I just put in a request to the library to get it from the main branch, since it's rather long.
I read the other Boxall list book by the author of Black Box, Amos Oz, last year- A Tale of Love and Darkness- and liked it a lot.
I plan to read Suite Francaise anyway, probably next spring.

And 14 voted for At Swim, Two Boys. Got it now.

message 28: by Pip (new)

Pip | 1822 comments I, also have read Black Box. It was a Diversity read in 2018.

message 29: by George P. (new)

George P. | 697 comments I've read about 1/8th of At Swim, Two Boys already and like it so far. Perhaps I will finish by the end of the month. It's longish, and I'm reading a couple other long ones concurrently.

I think Kristel may have misread your question and thought you asked how many voted for At Swim, Two Boys.
