I've Started So I'll Finish - 2021

1st January to 31st December 2021

When I first ran this challenge I really didnt think I'd still be running it 10 years later....... But here i am!

This challenge is a chance to get up to date in some series - or at least get as far as you can!

The rules remain the same:

Set yourself a target - you have two options:
Number of Series
or
Number of Books

The Rules
* You can join anytime
* Any genre is allowed.
* There has to be at least 2 books that you need to read to get up to date/finish the series (if you are going the series route).
* If you're getting up to the current release in a series, then it should be current as at 30th November (that way if it has a book coming out in December it's your call whether or not to include it).
* You can include the short stories/novellas between books if you wish.
* Audiobooks and re-reads are fine (as long as you read it properly - no skimming).

If you don't have all the books you need to get up to date (e.g you have 4 out of 5), then use the books you have - it's meant to be fun!

Now, I may be the odd one out here (and I know I am because the evidence is right here), but this seems to counterproductive to me! Looking at all these lists just makes me 😳😵🤯.

I started out this way (and still have far too many unfinished series from years back that I started that are still ongoing) but the frustration of waiting for ages, having to reread prior books to remember what happened and never seeing an end in sight is why I quickly chose to mostly binge read series, and again mostly only when the series is complete. I get so much more satisfaction that way, with a beginning, a middle and an end without having to wait for YEARS on every single one.

Rarely now do I pick up a book in a series without reading through the rest of them back to back, that counts for all the genres I read. It happens, sometimes by accident and sometimes for particular reasons, but not often.

Sitting here all on my lonesome with this mindset😁😁😁.

The end of the year is fast approaching. It’s been a hell of a year. My reading has nosedived big time. I think it’s time for me to put this challenge to bed. I’ve been running it for a long time now. Need to find some way to reignite my spark for reading.

I didn't reach the goals but still made progress on what I'm calling orphaned series.

Goal:
Finish abandoned series with 1 book left with previous book completed prior to 2020 or is leftover from last year's challenge;
Finish abandoned series with 2 books left with previous book completed prior to 2020

Series: Total Planned: 39| Total Completed: 15
Books: Total Planned: 60 | Total Read: 23

I would sure love to see this challenge going forward in some capacity, even open-ended or something if Charlotte doesn't want to keep reposting every year. It's definitely one that helps me target some of my orphaned or lingering books. Sometimes just looking at them helps be decide I really don't want to read and can then remove from my TBR... that's almost as satisfying as reading for the challenge!
