With Writers' Festivals already starting across the country, Adelaide in SA has theirs in March. So let's celebrate the Adelaide Writers' Festival by:

Reading - all by Aussie Authors:

a) A debut novel
b) An author new to you
c) As a tribute, a title by Colleen McCullough
d) A male author

The criteria for March is:

Choose a minimum of two books (but you can read all four) - one of which HAS to be "c" - A tribute read...

LINKS TO HELP YOU CHOOSE:

Colleen McCullough

When you've decided on your choices, list and link them here in the thread so others can check them out:)

And enjoy your month of Aussie Author reading!

Carolyn | 9724 comments I need to get onto my Annual Aussie author challenge so I might double up and pick two from there (new author and male author) as well as one by Colleen McCullough and a debut if I get time.

I'll either read The First Man in Rome by Colleen McCullough which is a 1000 page doorstop or if I decide I can't cope with that, the shorter Angel.

I saw that Jools, that's one of the reasons I picked Angel :)
I'd really like to read The First Man in Rome if I have time Phrynne! The series does sound good but I'm not sure I should be starting another series of chunky books right now!

MaryG2E (goodreadscommaryg2e) | 934 comments Mmmm, looking forward to this challenge. Bring on 1st March, I say!
I've discovered that there's a run on Colleen McCullough's books at my library, which is understandable. However it does limit my choices a bit. Anyway, here's my proposed list, subject to availability:

1. A debut novel:
Jillaroo (Jillaroo #1) by Rachael Treasure Jillaroo by Rachael Treasure (romance)

2. An author new to me:
Although I know her name well, I've never read anything by Jackie French. Since she has been named 2015 Senior Australian of the Year, I must remedy that situation post haste.
A Rose for the ANZAC Boys by Jackie French A Rose for the ANZAC Boys by Jackie French (YA, historical)

3. A title by Colleen McCullough:
The Ladies of Missalonghi by Colleen McCullough The Ladies of Missalonghi (historical)

4. A male author:
Something Fishy (Murray Whelan, #5) by Shane Maloney Something Fishy by Shane Maloney (crime)

MaryG2E (goodreadscommaryg2e) | 934 comments Hi Moderators, I know this issue has been raised by others on these threads, and I apologise, but I'm still not clear on the guidelines for counting books in or out of challenges.
I'm already committed to read 24 books for the 2015 Australian Authors Challenge, which is year-long. Can the titles I have just posted above for this March Aussie Authors challenge be counted into that larger, longer list?
