I was listening to the audiobook so I couldn’t work out if it was just my lack of attention but I kept drifting off and the story really didn’t pull me in

I had the digital book but faced the same issue. Felt quite disappointed because the whole world seemed to be praising the writing, the characters, and the plot, but I found it a chore to finish.

That's good Brenda. #14 continues on with the plot from from #13 so I didn't want you getting any spoilers and spoiling your enjoyment of it.

Carolyn | 9722 comments The Raging Storm (Two Rivers, #3) by Ann Cleeves The Raging Storm by Ann Cleeves is #3 in her Two Rivers series. I'm still trying to warm to her MC, Matthew. He's a very different character to Vera and Jimmy.

Damo | 560 comments Brutal & Strange by Jim Fusilli Brutal & Strange edited by Jim Fusilli a book of crime short stories inspired by some of the songs by Elvis Costello. 18 of today's leading crime authors have come up with some sharp and twisty shorts. It prompted me to queue up and listen to the Elvis Costello greats once again.

Carolyn | 9722 comments City of Light (Dan Clement, #1) by Dave Warner City of Light by Dave Warner is his first novel and is set in the depth of WA's corrupt underbelly during the 1980s.

It's quite a long book (over 500 pages) and would have benefitted from being more concise, but having lived in Perth around that time I enjoyed it it because I was very familiar with the events and places he described. If you haven't read this author yet I'd suggest starting with one of his later books.
