Marie -- I really enjoyed Cryptonomicon. It didn't feel like it was as long as it is. I listened to the audiobook version read by William Dufris. I thought the narrator did a great job. My only complaint was that there are hardly any female characters, which is disappointing in a book with over 1100 pages.

My second longest book for 2022 was only 424 pages. I can't believe that. My longest was only 563 pages. I literally have pages of books on my list that are longer than 424 pages, even than 563 pages,

Possiblities that I own:
The Historian, I Know This Much Is True, The Peaceable Kingdom, David Copperfield, Battle Cry of Freedom, An American Tragedy, The Land of Painted Caves, The Tenants of Time, and The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling. Not sure which editions I have. I will continue to investigate as we get closer to Jan. 1. Many of these have lingered on my TBR list. My overall reading challenge goal will probably be much shorter this year as my 2023 LOST list has many long books on it as well as the one for this challenge.

I will go with Battle Cry of Freedom: The Civil War Era. Mine is the paperback with the same 904 pages as this edition. I can't find it on the list.

I might try the audio but if the story is complex I dont always follow an audio well - i tend to listen whilst running or driving and sometimes loose focus

LaurLa, I will let Tien answer your question, but I did notice that you have finished reading Book #3 of A Court of Thorns and Roses. I did not see the next book in your TBR but can highly recommend A ​Court of Silver Flames. It is book #4 and the end of the series. It is about 700 pages and would meet your needs if Tien approves.

Ah...I bet I know what happened. Book 3 was not yet read on her TBR but it was showing me books I had read that were there...and giving me my rating. Thus I mistakenly thought she had read Book 3. Duh! Did that research too late at night for my brain.

Yes, technically 649 was the second longest but I'm not counting the longest as my longest because it was a boxset. But what does it matter - it's 20 odd pages and I still don't have a book longer that 649 pages that isn't multiple books into a series I haven't even started. It appears I may not get this particular prompt done. I'm not saying I'll disregard it, I may stumble across something new that peaks my fancy but I highly doubt it. Maybe I'll search out another boxset to buy that I can read of books already on my TBR.

EDIT: I double checked the instructions thread but to verify, it CAN be a new book added to my TBR this year - we're not restricted to books on our TBR before 1/1/23?

ah, i see... I didn't realise the longest book was a boxset (I have the same issue).

And yes, for this challenge, it can be ANY book.

The rule for books being on TBR prior to 1/1/23 is only for Moving Mountains - it doesn't apply anywhere else.
