I'm not very up on that genre (it's my least favorite). For me, I would consider Paranormal under SciFi/Fantasy, but if people more familiar with the genre would consider them separate, I can create a new folder.

Hmm, you make a good point EastofOz. I'm just completely unfamiliar with the genres, so it's all the same to me. But I'll create a Paranormal folder. Vampires would go in that, right? Cuz then I've got to fix a post I made ;)
I'm putting this out there as a possibility...
Giving a short summary of the series in the series posts.
Yes, no? I was just thinking about how the lists could be used to find a new series to read for someone just poking around, but that they wouldn't really know anything about the series just seeing a list a books.

I'd put someone like Linnea Sinclair into SciFi but JR Ward in paranormal because Sinclair's books are intergalactic stories while Ward's are demons and the like.
Where would I put erotica? I have two books by Shalyla Black that aren't a series but the character in one book goes on to have his own story in the other?
What's a category romance? Is that like a Harlequin or Silhouette?
How about adding a "Western Folder"?
Your "book blurb" idea is a good one, if people could give a succinct few lines after the list maybe (?)
I did create a paranormal folder...now I've got to figure out if I can move the post I made in SciFi to Paranormal. :)
I'll add an erotica folder. Forgot about that one.
Category romance...yes, that Harlequin/Silhouette...basically the shorter stuff that's often numbered (I'm addicting to them). Though it's not often obvious if it's category romance because of books being reissued into a more mainstream package (ie Nora Roberts' old stuff).
Westerns...hmm. I'm not sure about that one. I guess it depends on the definition of Western. If they're frontier stories, then a separate folder would work, or just putting them in historical. But if they are modern Westerns...most people would probably consider them under Contemporary Romance. What kind of Westerns did you mean?
Blurbs...I've been checking out the lists everyone is posting that I'm not familiar with and wondering what they are about. So a blurb seems kinda helpful.

Kim - I'm not familiar with the series, but you can add it to the lists, just follow the guidelines in the Guidelines post :)
yeah, that took some figuring for me to do.
Basically, go to the bookshelf, then there is the search box for finding books...search for whatever your looking for and it brings up the search pages results.
Each result has that "add to -groupname- bookshelf" link. Click on that, and it brings a pop-up up. Somewhere on that pop-up is a link that says "Add A Shelf" or something. Click it, type in the name, click create. The shelf should now be in the pop-up with a check-box to select if you want to add the book there.
If that doesn't help/make sense let me know!

Just wanted to put the suggestion/option out there (for everyone) that if a list you check out doesn't have a summary, but you can think of one, feel free to add it in a comment to the list!

You closed the MacAlister request I put in and said that you posted it but I couldn't find it under historicals. Is it somewhere else?
Yeah, it's there, it's just a ways down the list since there have been a bunch of historical series added since then.

For authors that have A LOT of series (ie Nora Roberts for one) would it be more plausible to give them their own folder, and note genre some other way?

As for indicating the subgenre, I think this could be done in the topic heading. It wouldn't be necessary to indicate the author's name in the topic because any reference to a post will include the folder name (which, of course, is the author's name). Soooo...
Three Sisters Trilogy - Fantasy/Paranormal
Will show up in recent updates etc. as
Romance Series Lists - Nora Roberts - Three Sisters...
In the genre folder, you could post a cross-reference topic w/ a link to the NR folder.
You might also post a topic within the NR folder re: her pseudonym and since the JDR booklist is pretty much a single series, I'd post it as a single topic in the NR folder.
Just my twisted logic...

I had similar thoughts on the author folder. I might do it at some point, but right now it doesn't seem to be direly needed. If the folders start getting bulky then I'll probably start some author folder.
Idea suggestion - what do you guys think of having a folder for Author Book Lists - ie where you can post a lists of all books by authors?

I've been there before :) Good site. I was just thinking something where people could post lists they already have (I've got author lists for about 14 authors) and just paste them into a post. I hate going to website to website tracking down things, plus some author websites organize their book lists really poorly. When I make my own lists, I clean them up a lot. Just thought it might be a cool edition for the RSL group :)

Since the idea of a folder for author lists didn't get much interest, here's a new idea that was bouncing around my head last night: a "hidden gems" folder where you can recommend books that you thought were really great, but they're not very well known.
Yay or Nay?
Plus I just wanted to give a nudge to make sure everyone read the Still active series post and don't forget to add books to the Upcoming Releases lists or Atypical Hero and Heroines lists if you come across them :)

I believe the Delanza series is finished, the Bragg series could be considered active, because its related to the "Deadly" series, which is theoretically still active.
