Amy, don't get discouraged, just try. I'm not a really fast reader either but I did finish 9 books on my first challenge. After that I was around 6 or 7. And I've got work and other stuff so I don't expect myself to finish 10 or more books, but the fun is participating. :)

Amy--part of the fun of challenges is reading what everyone says about their books (hint, hint guys--don't make me get out the big club to hit you with for NOT posting you likes/dislikes) And seeing what kinds of twists and turns our fiendish minds take in finding books that fit the categories. Some of the books chosen have the rest of us scratching our heads for the logic in choosing them. So, make a list, read what you can (even if its only 1 or 2 books) jump in and talk about the books. Bug people to tell you what they thought of a book that you've been thinking about reading. In short--just have a good time.

Martina the Book Fairy (book_fairy) | 442 comments I had the hardest time trying to decide who my favorite author is, but I think Richelle Mead is my favorite in the paranormal universe. It helps that I've met her a few times and she has a kick-ass blog.

Finding a 1977 born author was also really difficult as none of my regular authors were born that year and I haven't seen anyone else post for 1977 yet. Am I the only member born that year? Luckily, that book was the only one I had to buy for the month. Everything else is coming off my TBR bookshelves, so it's a good "clean-up" month for me. :-)

Here we go! Books subject to change, as always!

Gail, A Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time has neither a paranormal nor a romance element, I'm afraid. Have you read all the other "male author" books listed? There are a bunch of good ones out there that would qualify in its stead.

You don't have to actually research them, just click on each author's name and it will take you to a page with pics of their book covers, which will usually give you an idea of what kind of book it is.

I already did that for 1979 and posted earlier in the thread all authors that have a paranormal element to their books--here is the post:

Laura wrote: "Nita & Michelle, here are the 1979 authors I posted earlier in the thread, Stella Price looks to be PNR/erotica.

Hi Mel,

I HAVE read the Cassie books (at least the first 3) and abandoned the series. That's why Midnight's Daughter is my "2nd Chance" book. I can't quite pinpoint what I didn't like about them - they just bothered me. Maybe b/c they felt too rushed. Poor Cassie never got a chance to rest at all and for me I think it stunted the character development. I just don't CARE about Cassie at all. *shrug*

I love that rule about making them read the book first! I should do that when I have kids someday! :) I am glad to see someone has enjoyed them. I have never read the Percy Jackson series before. I wanted to read it before the movie. When I seen the movie trailer at the theater I thought "WOW I hope that's a book series because I want to read it!" Then I thought "Oh and I want to see the movie too." :)

Lily (lilithesque) | 217 comments I've read all of Sunny's books. Maybe she'll bring her brand of erotica to mystery. Hey, I'll follow her until I dont like what she writes. The last Lucinda book did feel less invested. I still liked it, but I tend to trust authors sense when they say it's time to move on to new pastures.
