I think you'll be fine, especially since Sunny's website says the next book, Mona Lisa Eclipsing, will be released this year. If she isn't planning to write any more after that surely she wrapped up the story.

message 304: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. She just said this on the Mona Lisa books. Maybe she doesn't mean the Lucinda books.

You know, I read somewhere that most people including authors receive complaints mostly and rarely praise. So I've e-mailed about four different authors including Dean Koontz, Patricia Briggs, Eileen Wilks and Sunny and every single one have written me back with like one to two sentences. The girl who wrote Soulless is another one. I never write criticisms because who am I to complain when I can barely write this. You guys really should try it, you'd be surprised who responds.

Jennifer (jnhart) I've got a question. I have a book on my January challenge that I haven't even started yet. It fits a category on my Feb challenge. Can I use it for February as long as I don't start it until Feb 1?

Of course you can! As long as you haven't started reading it, it still counts. I should change one of mine because I have one I started and didn't finish in the "2nd Chance" but it doesn't really count.

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 184 comments Reposting this since I changed 2nd Chance. I didn't intend to continue the series (after the prequel) but I decided to since I already bought the book and I have the 2nd chance category.

♥Lynn ♥ | 519 comments Carolyn, I wrote Rob Thurman and she emails me back everytime. She is really nice. I also talk with Kim Harrison on facebook, she tries to make comments on everyones posts to her. I think it is important to write the authors we like. I do not want to seem like a pest so I do not write anything negative because it is their job to write not mine. I think they also need that motivation some days to write and know that people are going to enjoy it.

Oh, definitely. That's the main reason I wait until the 1st of the month to post my lists for challenges, because they usually have a few leftovers from the previous month that I didn't get to. I just never know what they are going to be until then LOL!

Oh yes that is very true. I decided to recycle one of mine because I doubt I will get to it. If I finish the one I am on now, I will have read 7 books in January and that is a record for me. :) I hope I finish at least one challenge this year. I want to read 100 or more books this year. I am confident I can do it! :)

message 322: by Laura Lulu (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) Lory, I went through the 1974 authors and there is none who write PNR or UF, but here are a couple I found--

Joe Abercrombie has a popular straight fantasy series.

And these are both YA fantasy writers-
Katherine Marsh
Penni Russon

I have read a bunch of Shannon Hale's stuff & it's really wonderful YA fantasy--sweet stories & characters that are a nice break between dark paranormal stuff. :) If you end up going with her, I recommend The Goose Girl.

I know that. I didn't think it mattered. I have read a good many of these male authors--I read Ender's Game when it first came out, like I did most of the others of those. My main issue is that I want the books to be books I actually want to read, and also books I already have, or can easily get at the library. I suppose I could read Orcs by Stan Nicholls or Orphan's Journey by Robert Buettner, but I'm not really in the mood to read those. None of these others really appeals to me, either. We'll see. I might find one that does. If not, I guess I just won't read a male author.

Hi Mrs. Soule - I looked around for you, but couldn't find it. However, I did find this site () which tells you that she finished her first book at age 40, so if you can figure out what year she finished her book, you should be able to backdate to figure it out. Good luck!
