I'm actually enjoying the serialsation, which is odd, because I really hate waiting for books in a series to come out, especially if they are cliff-hanger endings. Maybe it's because I know that as soon as the first of any given month comes around, the new installment of Wanda's book will be available as an e-book from my library . . . something to look forward to.
I really can't wait to see what happens next! :)

Natalie (creativecountry0407gmailcom) | 1126 comments Sarah Price just released a new book on Kindle yesterday. I'm 10% done. It's good so far. I will keep you posted. It is called Amish Faith, (Amish Christian Romance). No clue when it will be in paperback due to be released less than 24 hours ago.

Natalie (creativecountry0407gmailcom) | 1126 comments FYI: Forgiving and Learning to Love and Loving and Letting Go are the second and third in the series by Melanie Schmidt. A Perfect Love is the first. I read [book:A Perfect Love on Sunday. It is good. I am really hoping for more from this author. By the way, this tile is now free on Kindle.

Natalie (creativecountry0407gmailcom) | 1126 comments I am not impressed with Wanda Brunstetter's serial. The idea of a cliff-hanger ending after paying three or four dollars isn't appealing. That said, I plan to finish it for my reading challenge because the books are pretty cheap.

I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of Brunstetter's serialization, either. I think it's gimmicky and it's a little ridiculous that publishers expect readers to pay seven dollars for eight chapters of a story - six times! I wouldn't be reading them if my library hadn't gotten them.

That said, though, the story itself doesn't seem too bad. Of course, I've only read the first one, so... Lol.

message 907: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I've not read Wanda's serial, so I can't comment on the content, but there's no way I could afford to spend that much money on six individual books. If they're $7 each, as Brittany said, doesn't that make it $56 for the whole series? If my library had them, sure, I wouldn't object to reading them, but it's just not affordable.

As for cliffhangers, I do enjoy series where each book follows on from the last (our current group read is like that), but I like some sort of resolution at the end of each book, otherwise I'll feel frustrated and like I'm being forced to continue reading immediately.

Phyllis | 44 comments I have said before that I don't like mini-books. They end up costing much more that real novels. I don't know who thought this was a good idea, probably some marketing expert to make more money. I refuse to buy them no matter who writes them. I love the regular series of books that have been written by a lot of authors, such as Wanda Brunstetter and Beverly Lewis. I will get off my soap box now.

Rachel Some books that I really enjoyed we're the Indiana Cousins series by Wanda Brunsetter and I would consider re-reading those... Are there any really good Amish books that anyone would recommend to me?

You might want to give Cindy Woodsmall's series a try. I've enjoyed every one!

Melissa | 127 comments I'm reading the Half-stitched Amish Quilting Club by Wanda Brunstetter. It's kind of different because it's not a romance, though it has a bit of romance I guess.

I saw the musical last year in Shipshewana, so I know how some things turn out. However the book goes into much more depth than the show.

Rachel Where Grace Abides (The Riverhaven Years, #2) by B.J. Hoff
Finished this one today. 4 stars.
Even though there were still some pieces of the story line that I wished hadn't been dealt with so abruptly from the first book of the series, I really liked how this book carried on with the characters and the plot. While the end of this novel is also fairly open, it leaves readers with more hope for good things in the next book in the series. Overall, I liked it a lot.

Melissa | 127 comments I'm currently reading The Chase by DiAnn Mills. I'm almost halfway through and it's a struggle. The book is so dry, it's supposed to be Christian suspense, but the suspense is not hooking me in at all.

The characters don't seem to have different voices. I will be reading the dialogue between the female and male lead and get confused about who said what.

I've never read this author before and she has good ratings, but if I ever finish this book I don't think I will read her again.
