I'm listening to it and I'm having big expectations... Only an hour in....
*spoiler* hope I get past them having genders for everything. Maybe once I'm further along it will make more senses. However, the table is a living breathing thing to this boy and.... I'll hold off judgement till I'm further along. lol I know there is a lot more going on than I'm aware of at this point. Still understand the starting slow.

Yes, it was kind of a slow start, but I think that's one of the consequences of having a 5-year-old narrator. The limited point of view gets a bit frustrating at times.

Once they are out of the room helped to see the difference between what his experiences were on the outside world and that of Room. Totally bought into it by the end.

I just don't get why she lied to him...why not just tell him the truth? Then maybe it would have been easier to get him to go for the escape plan...

I know not sure about her approach myself. However, sure all part of her coping mechanisim as well regardless of how it affected him.
