Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) | 11182 comments 30.2 -- Cheryl TX’s task -- Alphabetically Speaking
For this task you will need to read two books.
Book A. Read a book by an author who has two initials that are consecutive from A to Z. You must use the author's name as it appears on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ. Examples: Ann Beattie -- consecutive initials AB, Lynn Morris -- consecutive initials LM, Linda Lael Miller -- consecutive initials LM, J.K. Rowling -- consecutive initials JK, Melissa Fay Greene -- consecutive initials FG.

Book B. Read a book by an author who has two initials that are consecutive from Z to A. You must use the author's name as it appears on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ. Examples: Norman Mailer -- consecutive initials NM, Lisa Kleypas -- consecutive initials LK, Perri O'Shaughnessy -- consecutive initials PO, Laurell K. Hamilton -- consecutive initials LK, H.G. Wells -- consecutive initials HG, T.C. Boyle -- consecutive initials CB

NOTE: The alphabet wraps, so an author whose initials are ZA will work for Book A and an author whose initials are AZ will work for Book B. Authors with initials that are not consecutive will not work. Example: E.L. Doctorow -- initials ELD, will not work.

Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) | 11182 comments Approved authors:

If one of the authors of a co-authored book fits the task, the book will work. Ex. The Black Gryphon by Mercedes Lackey and Larry Dixon would work for Book B.

Melissa de la Cruz -- initials MDLC will not work

A - Z. A. Maxfield

B - B. A. Tortuga

I'm thinking of a book co-authored by Andre Norton and Mercedes Lackey. Can that one squeeze in here for part B since one of the authors fits, or do I need to fit in a single-author book here?

Beth F | 669 comments Petty Magic: Being the Memoirs and Confessions of Miss Evelyn Harbinger, Temptress and Troublemaker, written by Camille Deangelis would fit this task and you can enter to win a free copy from

Somebody sent me a link to that site a couple months ago and I won both the drawings I've entered. Since it is run by a publisher, there are usually a lot more copies up for grabs than the firstreads contests done on GR. Pretty fun.

Also want to add that when you sign up they ask for your email address but they only emails I have received from them have been notifications that they have more books to give away. Um, yes please! :)

I believe that co-author's names can be used without having to use both authors

I'm Sorry Inez but the names have to be consecutive. The de la in the middle throws this one out.
