Personality: Not exactly the nicest guy in the universe. Quiet, tense, and suspicious of everyone. Pessimist, hateful, and a little scared, but is able to set every emotion in him aside and focus on whatever task he is doing.

Background: His mother died when he was born. When Dakota asked his drunken step-father where his mother was when he was six, his father began to beat him, suddenly "realizing" that it was Dakota's fault. No one knows who his real father is. When he was nine he was almost beaten to death, but in the middle of the night shadows came and stopped his step-father, strangling him. Dakota's left arm had been maimed, so the shadows completely tore it off at the shoulder, then replaced it with shadow. Later, Dakota slowly began to trust the shadow and they became constant companions. The shadow is just called Shade. It can become a solid creature when it wants, but usually everything just passes through it. It is the only thing Dakota trusts.
