I know! My library doesn't have The Summer Bookand neither does..."
A Game of Thrones. It's long but sooo good.

Hi Karen:
I was looking at Mother's Milk but from the blurb it sounded like it was part of a series. (Or came after a series?) Does this need to be read in any particular order with the author's other books?
Yes -- you can repeat the Group Reads task.

I haven't read any other books by the author of Mother's Milk and I didn't notice anything, but I guess I should check that out, too. I have owned the book for awhile, so I didn't look too closely at the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ description!

Thanks. Now we'll see if I have time to carry through on reading multiple group reads!

I really liked You Know When the Men Are Gone. I was in the military during Desert Storm and had done a lot of training at Ft Hood. It was broadening to hear what the families go through. Since it is now a volunteer army, it is the same soldiers going on deployment after deployment in a never-ending string of military objectives. The rest of America who have no loved ones fighting, don't seem to realize the sacrifices they make, not only with their lives, comfort, and safety but also losing a whole year at a time in the lives of their families. Can you imagine missing a whole year of your child's life? Then having to do it again a year or so later. How about the kids? Every once in a while a parent shows up, stays for a while and then has to leave again. The strain on the marriages... well, you can just imagine.
Ok Soapbox done. Point is it is a good read about what our soldiers' and their families are living today, right now.
Oh and you can get combo points for two other tasks as well! (smile)

Sam has indicated that the Sookie books are classified as supernatural, no horror.
From the Spring Cleaning Q&A folder (Msg #20) "For our purposes here, "supernatural" means books that feature ghosts, vampires, werewolves, witches etc. in a macabre way. Gandalf and Harry Potter are not macabre (i.e., fantasy), whereas The Dresden Files and the Sookie Stackhouse books are."

I know! My library doesn't have The Summer Bookand neither does Paperback Swap. I've Wish Listed the book there, but I doubt I'll get a copy before the end of the challenge. Now I'm debating between A Game of Thrones and You Know When the Men Are Gone.
