Tatiana (tatiana_g) Welcome to YA Book Club's first Reading Challenge!

Rules

Duration: March 1, 2011 - May 31, 2011.

We are an YA Book Club, so all books should be young adult.

You have 3 months to read 12 YA books that satisfy following requirements:

1) Read a book which is a Printz winner or honoree. The list of all winners and honorees can be found .

2) Read a book that is a new release published in March, April or May of this year. Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ offers lists of the most popular new releases by month, they might help you to make your choices - March, April and May.

3) Read a book that is a part of a series.

4) Read an author's debut novel.

5) Read a book that is on one of the ALA's Best Books for Young Adults lists. Pick any year. The lists can be found .

6) Read a book set in a foreign country.

7) Read a book which is a book-in-verse, a graphic novel or epistolary (written in a form of a diary, letters, notes, etc.).

8) Read a book written from a male POV.

9) Read a book which was nominated for a month's pick in our group, but never won. Our old polls are here

10) Read 3 books that belong to 3 different genres of your choosing. You can pick from: science fiction, fantasy, paranormal, dystopia, mystery, urban fantasy, chick lit or horror.

Everything should be done on this thread - your questions, your plans, your progress.

P.S. If you are interested in more challenges - monthly, yearly, etc., post your suggestions here

Happy reading!

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) This is a great idea. It's just I don't participate in any challenges. I already am so overbooked with book groups, book club, and ones I just want to read for myself books. I'm so behind the last thing I need is an official challenge. But, this should be fun for those who want to participate. It's a wonderful addition to this group.

Is there a list somewhere of debut novels?

Annalisa (goodreadsannalisa) What a fun challenge. Too bad I won't be able to read that much over the next few months. I will try to get to these books already on my to-read list:
1. Please Ignore Vera Dietz (Printz winner) Loved it!
2. Miles from Ordinary (released March 2011) Okay
5. Saving Francesca (ALA winner)
7. Crank (novel in verse) Pretty good

I'm reading now:

message 47: by Penny (last edited Mar 01, 2011 10:18PM) (new)

Penny | 2 comments 1) Thirteen Reasons Why (Can I count this? I started it yesterday) otherwise I'll read A Northern Light

2) Where She Went

3) Real Live Boyfriends

4)

5) Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie or Going Bovine (I'm halfway through both of these books, so can I count one or the other? If not I'll pick something else. Actually I just started reading After today, so I'll just go with that.

6)

7) The Walking Dead

8)

9)

10) dystopia Bumped or Outside In, mystery The Weed That Strings the Hangman's Bag. Question: I just purchased The Iron Thorn and it's pretty much just steampunk with faeries and/or witch magic mixed in, I think (haven't started it yet). Anyway, would that qualify as fantasy? I tend to think yes but I just want to check (don't look at me like that. I just started reading steampunk last year, so there).
