As we start Independent People we ought to consider what we want to read next. I'm easy, although I wouldn't mind tackling another from our current Laureate, Mario Vargas Llosa. What do you think?

No nominations for our next group read. I'm tempted to put up a poll including a Hemingway, a Heaney, a Coetzee and a Lessing. Let me know what you think.

Thanks Bruce, I'll give it a go at the week-end unless someone comes up with a better idea.

OK I've put up a poll but the format wasn't quite how I intended. The four books for you to choose between are in alphabetical order of author's surname:
J M Coetzee - Laureate 1999 - Disgrace
Seamus Heaney - Laureate 1995 - Beowulf
Ernest Hemingway - Laureate 1954 - A Farewell to Arms
Doris Lessing - Laureate 2007 - The Golden Notebook
Quite a range here and although the Heaney is a translation it is very highly regarded.

As of Thursday evening British Summer Time, only a third of members have voted on our next group read. It would be nice if at least half the members voted. Poll closes on Sunday.
