My eardrums are bleeding at the very thought - yuk

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments Yuk? They really are an extension of the heavy metal movement of the 70's. Don't tell me you didn't enjoy Deep Purple et al?

message 103: by Ian (new)

Ian (pepecan) I did enjoy Deep Purple a bit back in the 70's and they have a place(although small on my iPod)but I like to continually update my music with stuff that is new and exciting. Music seems to be a strange art form where people find a type of music in their teens/twenties and then listen to it over and over again and stop exploring. I don't read the same book over and over again that I first read and enjoyed 30 years ago, I don't drive the same car or eat the same food etc etc

I've not had that problem. My range of music covers a lot of ground - classical, blues, rock, "world", cajun, hip hop, thrash metal. There's very little that doesn't attract me musically nowadays.

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments Manifesto - Roxy Music. One of the all time great bands.

Also

arrived this morning so I listened to it in the car. Not sure her voice has improved with age....

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments The thing is, even as it is now, it is so much better than a lot of modern singers that are totally dependent upon Autotune to hold or reach a note.

BTW, I'm listening to Clues by Robert Palmer this morning. Good morning Goodreaders!

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments Now moved on to The Best of Three Dog Night. Presumably they didn't have the nerve to call it Greatest Hits.

willie (williewit) `Dummy` - Portishead ...hmmm
sublime.

:0)

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments Whilst I like Portishead, I have banned them from play in the car. Some years ago I was listening to the Portishead album and had to pull over and check the car as I was convinced that there was something seriously wrong with it. It wasn't, it was the sound effects on the album.

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments Me too, and CD and MP3. Loved most of their work and a lot of Bill Nelson's solo work. He is quite prolific and now distributes most of his stuff through Discipline Records, Robert Fripp's label. if you are interested. There is a lot of interesting stuff over there.

Not a bad album but it lacks the power of The Killers music.

I used to have Charisma, it's around here somewhere. I put it down a little while ago.

I once read of a manager's assessment: "His staff will follow him anywhere, but only out of curiosity."
