Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ 2011 Reading Challenge â€ how's it going?

At my current pace, I'm 1 book (2%) behind.
I'm not counting comics, because then it would be too easy (and I'm trying to compare with previous years).

As for the challenge, I originally set it for 75 books, which was really pushing it for me since I barely got 50 last year. Now I've actually dropped it to 60 because I've been reading the Malazan books and those take me two or three weeks to get through. (I'm still hoping I can reach my original goal.) So far I've read 41 books.
*sigh* I haven't added any books in a while. I already had a slew of books I'd read that I needed to add when I lost my internet for two weeks. Now I'm at 114 according to my tracker but I have 52 or 53 books I've read since then that I just can't bring myself to add. I'm so lazy. I think my goal is 250 but I'm going to shoot for 300 this year. If I could go all crazy machine mode and manage to read 336, I'll reach 6000 for my lifetime total :) Not bloody likely but something to aspire towards at least.
Tracey, if I give you my log in id and password and a list will you add my books for me :D Pweeeeeease? *big brown puppy dog eyes* :D

I don't think anyone should read faster than they can absorb and enjoy. Reading shouldn't be a competition or a chore.

The books I read are, by-and-large, pretty quick reads, so I can get through them fairly quickly, for me at least. I also include graphic novels, though I've only read a handful of those this year.

extreme total envy"
:-D
I'm envious you managed to get onto Netgalley! I'm only with Manic and they don't have a ton of good stuff. :-( *sad panda*
@Majkia - I'm a real bookworm :) and I've been this way since i was a little kid. Unless I don't have the option I'm always reading something. I read during work (don't tell the boss!) of course at home, standing in any line, and sometimes while walking the dog or just walking.
Yes Gralant, I've almost gotten hit by a car for stepping into the street with my nose in a book instead of paying attention to what I was doing. *blush*

I signed up with the frankly pathetic 12, not knowing how much time I'd have for reading. Then I raised it to 12, then (at Grant's prodding...) 40, and now 50. I'm still ahead of myself; I didn't account for how many transatlantic flights I'd be taking. :)

156/240

Phew. *wipes non-existent sweat from brows*
I'm one book behind on my rather lofty goal of 36 books.
=)

I agree and I truly wish at times I read slower. I taught myself to 'speed read' when I was in college and I've never learned to slow myself down. I KNOW I miss things ...
The 'up' side ... it doesn't take me long to figure out I don't want to finish a book ... and for the ones I really like and buy to own and re-read, the first 3 or 4 re-reads I keep 'discovering' bits I managed to skim over the first few reads.
I average 12 to 15 books each trip to the library, once a month, with occasional 2-week 'extras' if I get the new books which are 14-day checkout. There are usually 3 to 7 in the haul that I don't finish and after a week to 10 days, I have to rely on my own books for re-reads.

Welcome back! You've been MIA for a while!"
We've been having almost daily thunderstorms for several weeks and I swear if there is a thunderstorm anywhere in the state of KY my Internet service goes down! I don't have a lot of patience with tech stuff so I end up throwing up my hands in disgust and going back to my books!

Wow! That's guy's list is comprehensive. I wish I could have a list like that too. I just think it would be interesting to see everything I've ever read. I've kept pretty good track of it since I've joined Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ, but before then, I can only remember some of what I've read and have no idea when I read it.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of books I find 'readable' but also pretty 'forgettable' ... not something I'd want to re-read. And a few of those I've been known to pick up from the library a second time, not recognizing title or author and only realizing it's something I've read before halfway through the book.
I just had one of those recently and am almost ashamed to admit I didn't realize it was a re-read until I got into the last couple of chapters when there was a scene that I recalled.

That's amazing! It reminds me of people who write in a journal everyday. I wish I'd done that too. It would have been great to go back and read it.

lol with you on that one, Sharon. Done it a few times and I'm kind of embarrassed by it. GR is very helpful, because now I'll have my review and a description! I've been pushing my boundaries some with types of books... I'm much more willing to try a book and then just return it to the library if I don't like it--but with GR I have a higher chance of liking it.
Only at 74 so far this year. Gunnin' for 125 with my eye on 150.

I've been doing the same although I know there are a few I'm not able to think of the titles for and that drives me nuts!
Oh man I feel you on rereading a book you've already read. I read the third book in the Wheel of Time series 3 times! Both of the rereads led ot me getting to the end before I realized I'd already read it! Very much a facepalm moment!

Right now I'm at 40 of 70

Doesn't help either that I spend a lot of my free time gaming. Usually expansive RPGs I lose 40-80 hours per play through on. I'm one of those obsessive 'need to explore everything!' gamers, even on second and third play throughs.
But then again, last year I just managed 30 books and that was by far the most I'd ever read in a year. So being already at 29 currently isn't that bad.

I signed up - I orignally started with 100 Books in 2011 but I've since changed my challenge to 150. I'm at 111 books so far (not counting re-reads and shorts).
