How is your Friday going? Mine is okay. I'm hoping I can get at least two more books read this week. Pretty sad that this is my goal for the week, huh?

Does anyone have any grand plans for the weekend?

Michelle(Chelle) aka Nightshade - Cake Whisperer (michmag) Great idea Lady D. My plans for the weekend are to finish reading Fifty Shades Freed (Fifty Shades, #3) by E.L. James & to get to the theater to see the newest Underworld movie.

Hey Faithmarie - Underworld is a series of movies starring Kate Beckinsale. All about Vampires & Lycans. This is the newest installment - 4th movie in the series. I happen to be a huge fan of the series and I can't wait to see the newest movie.

I hope to get some reading done this weekend and writing, which I will be writing. I bought some books yesterday and some were given to me today.

Rachel the Book Harlot | 217 comments Megan, I'm so jealous! Have a wonderful time and send some warm thoughts here to NYC! :)

I don't have much planned other than relaxing. This is my last free weekend before Spring semester starts. I want to make the most of it by staying in my jammies & reading all weekend. lol

You know I am!! I have my iPad loaded down, and I stopped by the library today for some paperbacks to enjoy on the beach! I have no clue what or how many I'll end up reading! We will be gone Monday through Saturday, but spending a couple days in New Orleans as well!

message 19: by Duchess Nicole (new)

Duchess Nicole | 154 comments Random question here. Y'all were talking about the underworld movies. Has anyone seen the third, Revenge of the Lycans, or something like that? I loved the first two, but I don't think the same stars were in the third, or if it's worth watching. Also, isn't "One for the Money" coming out in January? Has anyone seen it yet? I just read Explosive Eighteen (Stephanie Plum, #18) by Janet Evanovich a couple of days ago, and it reminded me of why I love Janet Evanovich. Very G-rated and the love triangle has gone on for eighteen books, but they are still freaking fabulous!

Michelle(Chelle) aka Nightshade - Cake Whisperer (michmag) Hi Duchess,

I've seen the third movie. (I own it too).

Lucian & Victor are in this movie. It is a prequel to the series and tells the story of how the Lycans used to be the daytime protectors of the Vampires and how Lucian fell in love with Victor's daughter Sonya. I liked it. It is pretty violent & gory and a bit more sex in this installment.

message 21: by Duchess Nicole (new)

Duchess Nicole | 154 comments Sex is gross! LMAO! I own it, too. I bought all three when I really started reading a lot of pnr. Sad to say, I have to force myself to watch TV and movies. I'm such a nerd.

Oh the Stephanie Plum series! I've never read the series but I've heard great things about it. I think it's great they've made a film from the first book. Are you excited to see the movie?

message 25: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 175 comments okay just changing subject for a moment here... I wanted to share this with you all as well you ARE my support group :-P
Last weekend I heard of the Used Book super Store. Been around for a few years but never went in. So long story short went in last weekend and 2 hours later I came out with 15 books off my TBR pile for like 18 dollars..WOO HOOO I signed up for their email and lo and behold I got a coupon for this weekend for 60% off all books... I just got back with 13 more books for $11.20....They have gently used books that are out of print and I am getting them REALLY cheap rather than having to order them.. I am beyond excited...
Okay back to your regularly scheduled program....

Yes, I'm so excited! The series is so much fun. If you want some light and funny, it's perfect.

Michelle(Chelle) aka Nightshade - Cake Whisperer (michmag) I love the Used Book SuperStore.

By the way I got to see Underworld Awakenings today. I thought it was good. Not as good as the first ones but I would definitely watch it again and go see the next one if they make one. It was a really quick movie though - like an hour and a half. I went with my 14 year old son and he liked it too.

That's awesome! Where are you from? I'm in Fort Worth, TX. We have these Half Price Books stores down here, about ten of them in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. They sell everything, of course, at half of the list price, but then they also have huge clearance sections where all hardbacks are $2 and paperbacks are $1. I swear, it's my favorite thing to do, just hop around DFW, to all the stores. I'll spend twenty dollars and have two bags full of books.

One thing about it that's fabulous is that it opens me up to new authors. I'll definitely spend a dollar on an iffy book that may or may not be good, whereas I never would have bought it full price. Don't you love places like that? Yay for you!!!!!!!!

Carolyn, that's an awesome book score.

Duchess, I thought the Revenge of the Lycans was very good. It just has some sad parts that you are prepared for if you know the story of Lucian and Sonia. I love Lucian, my favorite character other than Celine, so it's a good movie if you're a fan of his.

Michelle, that's too bad that Awakenings wasn't better. But I'm glad it was enjoyable at least.

I am in love with the store!!
So the movie was okay?? I will see if I can get my son to see it new weekend. He will probably want to go see it with his father but I might be able to get him to go. Either way I want to see it before it leaves.

I am up in Boston. I seriously never went there but have been. There are 3 with in 30 min or less of me so I am thinking that I can go ever so often. I am getting alot of the books off my TBR pile that have been outof print for a while. I cheat cause I export my TBR to excel and just print it and go up and down checking off books as I find them. So love it!!
Between this store and this group I have SOO many books that are on my TBR pile. I was killing myself when people were looking at me and asking why I had 20 pages of paper...lol

message 32: by Duchess Nicole (last edited Jan 22, 2012 07:46PM) (new)

Duchess Nicole | 154 comments I'm the same with my tbr! But isn't it wonderful, to have that much to choose from? My problem now is picking what to read next. I find myself stressing, there are so many suggested reads!

And the fact that I can immediately download practically anything onto my nook or laptop makes it way too easy to overspend.

message 33: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Loves 'Em Lethal (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 9851 comments Mod
Duchess, I have that tbr anxiety. I think the challenges help me to figure out what to read next. You might even see if there are buddy reads going on that you can join, to light some fire under you to start a new book.

message 34: by Duchess Nicole (new)

Duchess Nicole | 154 comments I'm such a taskmaster, though! I'm the type to make a list and if I don't finish it, I beat myself over the head. I have done a couple of pick it for me challenges, which definitely helped! I also added an 'up next' shelf to help me pick. And I also have a 'currently reading list' shelf for series that I'm in the middle of. It's ridiculous, I know. I need to remind myself that reading is nothing like cleaning house or being responsible. It's my escape.

Hey Carolyn - I'm up in the Boston area too. I always go to the one in Burlington. LOL.

Don't get me wrong I liked the movie but there was a particular reason I didn't like it as much(don't want to ruin it for other viewers). Worth seeing if you are already a fan.

I feel that the books that I find at the used store are the cosmo's way of picking my books for me. I add them to the TBR pile then I print it out excluding the ones that are already owned and check to see what the store has. I get what I can and then come home and listed that it is TBR but I own it.
