Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Hmmm.... The bit where I......

No, perhaps not.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Plenty of time - it's not due out (probably) till October.
Simon, I think if everyone did a book of The Best Bits of their life it wouldn't come to more than 2 months!
I'm starting now because I foollishly forgot to specify a font, font size, format, etc. so I'm changing them as I go. What larks!

What about the slinky Russian spy? You HAVE to include that!!!

If you tell us now, I could save you some work.

message 357: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I'm using verdana 12 point. I might even have to change that if Darren, technical guru, says so.

message 358: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Does it have to be a new story, ignite, written for the anthology or can it be one that might be published elsewhere? Just trying to plan my writing as I have a charity anthology I am sending a story to as well. ;)

message 359: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments It's better if it hasn't been published elsewhere Jonathan, but there's no problem if you want to re-publish later. The copyright remains with the author. If they are all new though, it's something worth buying if you see what I mean?

message 360: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Yes, no problem. I'll try to fit in a new short story by Oct. :)

message 361: by Kath (new)

Does that mean I can give you something that's already in the public domain? I did a Christmas story for a blog last year, but it doesn't appear anywhere else.

Cheers

MTM

message 363: by Kath (last edited Aug 09, 2012 03:57AM) (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments That would be fine MT. I'm happy with that. I'm not keen on an excerpt, for instance, but yours isn't that.
Edit to say that you probably need to give me the name of the blog so I can credit it as having published the story first.

message 364: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Just a quick update - it's going well. We have a good variety of material in a mix of styles an genres. I can still take some more - and I know some people will have something for me later, but if you are thinking of sending something (or something else) then send me a pm and I'll give you my email address.

Ta.

R.J. Askew (rjaskew) | 855 comments I am, too. It's brilliant to be involved in such a work thing. And all power fo Ignite for making it happen. I cld not do that.

message 367: by David (new)

David Wailing | 834 comments Good to hear this is going well. I'm still clinging onto the idea of being able to submit something before the deadline!

message 368: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21776 comments Looking at the list of people who have contributed or who are going to, it strikes me it will be a fascinating read. Something for everyone
I say we give Ignite one of Gingerlily's 'special' jellybabies!

message 369: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Great. I like something to suck.
(What have I said?)

I think you might just have out Gingerlily-ed Gingerlily!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Hey! We can't have that happening. I would have to start Igniting myself...

Jim | 21776 comments to quote the late, great Frankie Howard, "titter ye not!" :-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Ignite will be folding her arms and tapping her feet if we keep on spoiling her thread.

message 380: by Darren (new)

Darren Humphries (darrenhf) | 6903 comments Ignite is far too polite to point out that she DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH RECIPES!!!!!!!

Now if you want to avoid me getting all exclamation mark on your asses you'll get those recipes into her tout de suite.

message 381: by Jim (last edited Aug 17, 2012 02:08PM) (new)

Jim | 21776 comments To make Rum Butter

Take half a pound of Butter
Mix in perhaps 3/4 lb of sugar (brown sugar, dark as you like.)
Stir in rum to taste.(Dark rum, not the white stuff)

Spread on toast
eat

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Jim, you do realise what you have done, dont you? I will be eating that non-stop until I die of it. . .

well it's about the only thing I can cook that I do really well :-)
Because I always get the amount of rum absolutely perfect

for me :-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Hmmm, could do with more rum. . .

message 386: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21776 comments not wishing to sound negative here but it is supposed to be a spread you apply with a knife, not something you pour on like a Vinaigrette

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments I'm still trying to get my head around exploding turkeys

message 388: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Simon (Highwayman) wrote: "I'm still trying to get my head around exploding turkeys"

Don't. Then your head would explode too.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Jim wrote: "not wishing to sound negative here but it is supposed to be a spread you apply with a knife, not something you pour on like a Vinaigrette"

Oh, I was just drinking it. I forgot the toast bit. . .

message 390: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I shall be coming to Oxfordyshireland to sort that young man out. Darren, I do not need recipes - or multiple punctuation.

message 391: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Sigh.

And after I put all that time and effort into googling the stuffing recipe.

message 392: by Jay-me (Janet) (new)

Jay-me (Janet) | 3780 comments The only way I would get into the book would be copying someone else's recipe - no one would believe it was my own concoction unless it was carbonised.

Oh well ;)

Just tell them to get stuffed.

Carbon's good. They give doggies those charcoal biscuits, don't they?

message 395: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Bit of hot news - there's to be a stand-alone Agent Ward story! If you've read some of Darren Humphries' Man from U.N.D.E.A.D. stories The Man From U.N.D.E.A.D. - The Curious Case Of The Kidnapped Chemist for example - you'll know why I'm excited about that. If you haven't - you'll find out if you buy his books OR the Group Anthology!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Oooh!! *jumps up and down with excitement!*

message 397: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8040 comments There is something coming from me, I promise, but it has to wait until September. I think judging by the state he's in right now (not well) you may end up getting my poem, "I talk to the cat". Please be advised my poetry is not quality but I'm told it's funny.

Cheers

MTM

message 398: by David (new)

David Wailing | 834 comments Nice one Darren. I'm thinking of submitting something similar, a stand-alone Relationship Assassin story. That probably won't be as exciting to the group but frankly if I can get anything done before deadline, it'll be an achievement! :-)

message 399: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8040 comments David, I haven't read your stuff so I'll look forward to that!

Cheers

MTM

message 400: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Oh that would be brilliant David.
MTM - I can hold for a story if it's in the pipeline - I did last time and it was worth it! I'm flexible (she bragged, bending sideways to retrieve cup of tea).
