I will say I still love reading about the March sisters all this time, because they have held such a dear place in my heart for so long. Making me love classics even as an adult reader.

One of many strengths in Alcott's novel is that each of her characters feel so real to me as the reader. And even the supporting cast is vibrant in these pages. There are sorrows and happiness in these pages as well. The chapters themselves are setup more-so episodic to me even thought the story carries through one cohesive novel. Some of these chapters shine more than others for me an are five star worthy. Like for me when the girls give the Hummels their Christmas breakfast is stands out, or when little Beth hugs Mr. Lawrence after he gives her his beautiful piano. One scene that I think many of you probably also tear up is the very end when (view spoiler) is one of the best written scenes I've ever read.

Another think I wish to talk about is my favorite character of the novel, Beth. I adore all of the characters but Beth is my favorite because I wish to be more like her. She is content (for the most part although she too has her struggles) with the life she currently has. She looks for the good and is so thankful for what is right in front of her. I think there is nothing wrong for dreaming of more, but it is also important to know what we already have and cherish those precious moments. That's why I love Beth and love her chapters best and think those chapters are the ones that shine.

The reason I give this book four stars is because there are many chapters in this novel that seemed more like filler to me and did not capture my attention as the others. Perhaps that's because my mind was so familiar when the "children's version" which is why I think the way I do.

Either way this is a wonderful novel centered on sisterhood, family, womanhood, and most of all love. Happy reading folks! ...more "
