"- I still think the Nightmare is the best character in the series hands down
- I like Elm much more in this book, probably because he isn't complaining about Beth all the time
- Ione is my second fav character, she has some cool moments
- less rhymes which is great
- If her next book has some Ione+Nightmare romance duo that would be great, I think she can write the violent nature of these characters well" — May 11, 2025 02:33PM

"- I know this has the dystopia tag, but unlike the Hunger Games this has been non-stop depression porn so far. Have some pockets of happiness here and there so we know what they strive for
- I do like the dual pov protagonists, though it would've been better if one of them was pro empire at first
- augurs and the setting is interesting
- epic fantasy, not romantasy
- Pacing is slow, we aren't past the blurb yet" — Apr 24, 2025 03:53PM
