Once There Were Wolves by Charlotte McConaghy

Tim’s first review of the year

really liked it
Filled with trauma and so heavy with drama it may splash over into melodrama, Once There Were Wolves invites the reader in to the lives of two twin sisters, one who has “mirror touch and a world filled with rewilding wolves and finding one’s place in a world filled with violence and beauty.

Tim’s last review of the year

did not like it
This book felt like filler. Leftover writing from a previous novel that didn’t have a home. It starts out very confusing with action from two books ago? I couldn’t remember who some of the characters were. It felt derivative. Murderbot feels, watching media, an Aubrey Plaza cyborg caricature. Not much happens. The action is flat. The stakes low. I can’t think of a good reason to read this book.
