Very much like Boschwitz's The Passenger. (Not Iggy Pop's.)

Tomorrow is the finish line.

Still not sold on Demon's voice, and that's all we've got holding it together. Sadly, it is still just telling one event after the other. Not looking good so far.

Continually dense and compelling. I find I can only stomach a handful of pages at a time for some reason.

As some of my friends have already mentioned, this is quite tell-y so far. I guess it's relying on voice but I'm not wholly sold on Demon yet, as a sort of mix between Copperfield and Holden. On the plus side, he's just met Tommy Waddles who likes to draw skeletons on everything, just like one of my favourite characters in David Copperfield, Tommy Traddles, who likes to draw skeletons on everything.

Like with White Noise I like what DeLillo does with his characters and he captures something quite special on family, but now all this other "stuff" is happening - murder, cults, whatever - and I wish he would just stayed focussed on James and his broken family.

As ever I overestimate how much reading I can get in around travelling but I did read a solid chunk of this yesterday on the ferry to Aegina. It's getting good, mysterious, sometimes ridiculous, but even the narrator is finding it so. Answers aren't forthcoming.

Nothing beats reading Miller describe the whimsical ethereal mythological entry to the island of Poros by sea several hours before you arrive at the island yourself. Now to find a restaurant along the port that scatters itself across the pavement and drink beer to the fading sun, Henry style.

Well, Athens is incredible and I'm enjoying this more than White Noise so far. So all's good.

The second book that will accompanying me to Greece over the next two weeks or so... DeLillo didn't blow me away with White Noise so hoping for more here.

Preparing for my flight to Athens in four days and then the subsequent island hopping I'll be doing around the Sardonic islands. This and two other novels set in Greece will accompany my journeying.

Falls a little list-like at times, and it's dense reading (every page packed with information) but Thucydides has me excited with every conflict description. Also every time I pick it up I'm in awe that these pages are even here to be read, in 2023.

This has put me in a reading slump - not for me.

My first Pratchett. The quirkiness was fun once I got used to it, but I'm already feeling a little disillusioned. Not sure it'll be 'fun' for 400 pages.
