I am almost halfway through the book and so far he spent more time on sex and courtship than anything else. And I can't help it, the way he describes the sexual relations here, even how easy divorce and marriage is, makes me question the validity of the claims. Also, he claims they are differing from other Formosans in this regard but then claims they are the same apparently.

You've got to be kidding me. He spends half the book about nonsense and when he get to creation myths there is barely anything and now when it gets interesting with the different planes of the cosmos, the giant snake that holds the world and the riches in the underground the book stops.

Now that the book is at the creation myths, it becomes more interesting. Also, I do wonder where this element of women having a vulva with teeth comes from. I have seen that in other aboriginal stories before.

The way he describes the Yami people sounds ridiculously idyllic: Lack of theft, communal possession, egalitarian and the men allegedly only have g-strings, which does not fit the pictures here. Is this really reliable? And where are the creation myths? This book doesn't even have 100 pages so he should hurry.

the insland aborigines are supposed to come from southeast china and the eastern ones from Austronesia? Never heard of that idea before.
