Wooooooooo!

oh, i wish i could read it a lot faster but somehow it fails to grab my attention:(((

Oh I hate it when that happens. I've been sucking at reading so much this year. The only thing that seems to grab my attention are comics. Are you enjoying it yet struggling to read it? Or are you finding it dull and that's where the struggle is coming from?

Yeah! don't get me wrong, it is still good but compared to other BS books I've read this one seems weak. Maybe it's because it was Sanderson's first novel. I dunno.

Ah that could be it. I've seen that happen with a lot of authors. I'm reading The Way of Kings and I really like his writing so far but lots of authors have crappy books as their first published novels and then improve as they write more. Maybe it will get better? Is the storyline interesting but just not well written? Or is it all just kinda meh?

I wouldn't go far as calling it crap or meh, but my pain problem is with this main girl called Sarene. I really appreciate that BS always looking to create strong and intelligent female characters, but instead of appearing smart and strong Sarene comes across as very annoying most of the time.

Ooooooh yeah I've seen that happen before. It's sad when the author is going for witty and/or sarcastic and instead the girl just is obnoxious and bitchy. At least he got better at that in later books it seems. I'm actually impressed that in his first novel he had a female main character. So many male Fantasy writers just write men. It's nice that BS wasn't afraid to have a woman MC. Still, sad that she's annoying! Is the way she speaks realistic for a female character or is it just not right and comes off as weird and more male speech? I always find it amusing when I read a female character written by a man and I think, "Wow a woman would never say that!" It makes me laugh, though I always appreciate the effort!

Heh, I think it's exactly like you say, I found her really silly most of the time and then when she start talking smart,you know discussing politics, religion and stuff, she doesn't sound like a woman at all.

But Sarene is not BS's only female protagonist, Mistborn series Emperor's soul also have female main characters.

Yeah so does The Way of Kings so far. There is one main girl. I'm not that far into it though. I like women heros! or just main characters! It's nice! :)
