Written from POV 13 year old girl, in the 1930s, in racially divided southern state of Alabama. Her attorney father is now receiving abuse as a 'nigger-lover' for helping a poor black family.

This is an amazing book. I have seen the film at least three times, but the book is still so gripping. From memory the film seemed more focussed more on the big star, Gregory Peck. Whereas the book is very much the 13 year old POV, which is very interesting. Only a reptile wouldn't be moved by this book.
Re the film, I think James Stewart would have been the ideal Atticus Finch (the defence lawyer).

A charming book. I am captivated just reading the mundane part (Chap 1-3).
