So the gas giant was really his only choice, and if he could get close enough, there might even be a tactical advantage to be found in the planet’s intense gravity. That was the plan, but flying in a straight line would let the TIEs cut him to pieces, and that meant he was jinking, dodging, twisting the yacht in ways he was certain its owner would’ve wept to witness.

I like Poe even more after reading most of this. He reminds me of Wedge a little :)

Now this is more like it. Poe's story right from the beginning is both interesting and exciting with that X-Wing dogfight thrown in!

“What’re you afraid of now?�

Poe watched his father raise his eyes from the fence and stare up into the dusk sky. The sun had almost slipped behind the gas giant, and in the last moments of daylight everything seemed oddly brighter, more sharply in focus.

“That it was all for nothing,� his father said.�
