Maria Giuseppa, author of R&R: A Feast of Words (2024), has lived in the Chicago suburban area since arriving in the United States from her native Italy. She has followed a number of career paths all the while enjoying her role as spouse to an amazing man and mother to three awesome children. Today, in her seventh decade, she is finally returning to her first love, devoting herself to writing the stories that have been patiently waiting to be told.

I love reading but I'm not well read and haven't ever read a book of letters. I LOVED it! I wasn't sure I would honestly. When I saw the blank page with no response, it actually got to me. Do you write only this way or do you write "traditional" novels? If so, is one harder than the other?

I am so happy to hear that you enjoyed R&R and that it was a good intro to that style of writing. R&R is actually my first venture into a book of letters and just sort-of happened as I formulated the story and characters.

In a way, using this format required going into a deeper level of each character. The good part was that there were only two main characters which allowed me to get to know them very well.

I usually write traditional novels and short stories which generally contain more characters, more narration, and more description. The style seems not to be so much a conscious choice as much as a direction that the story or characters lead to.

I also write quite a lot of poetry which, of course, has its own rhythm and flow.
