Interview with L K Jay - Author of The Policeman Who Was Afraid of the Dark

Indie writer, L K Jay, has a new book out today . I've interviewed her about secrets, ghosts and the dark.

You describe yourself as "An indie author and martial artist who has a secret job so has to stay a bit incognito ..." Is that even half as exciting as it sounds?

Well ... I would like to say that I'm a secret agent who has to use her martial arts skills to save the country and seduces handsome and adventurous men. A female 007, or in my case, 003 and...

Interrogated by Joo!

Joo of has been interviewing writers about characters, decisions and ideas. I'm number 13!

Here's an extract from the interview:

What excites, attracts or appeals to you about the genre(s) you write in.

It's easier to be a comedy writer than train to become a doctor, even though it's widely accepted that laughter is the best medicine. One day I'll save a life, and the lucky patient will say to me, "Yeah, the paramedics stopped the bleeding, but you were the one who made me lau...

Interview with Margaret James - Author of The Penny Bangle

I was drawn to Margaret James's books by their beautiful covers. Like me, she is a Devon-based writer who has spent some time living in Oxford. I'm delighted to have the opportunity to interview her for this blog.

It's an exciting time for Margaret because a new edition of her paperback, , is about to launch.

FeedARead - Thoughts so Far

A number of authors have asked me to let them know how I get on with , the UK Arts Council funded self-publishing service. Well, so far it's going so well, that if I was offered the backing of a traditional publisher, I'd have to think very seriously about whether I'd be any better off than staying with print-on-demand.

Time frame

I uploaded my contents and cover images two weeks ago, and my proof copy arrived yesterday.

The longest part of the process was waiting for the printer to...
