One mystery in my personal life would be...my husband had a great uncle who was found walking alongside a railroad track in the middle of a deep forest. The child wore only a diaper and was determined to be younger than three. The family took him in while police searched for family. No one claimed him.
It's a good mystery. He grew up and became a hard worker and good family man. The mystery of who he was or where he came from never solved.(less)

I enjoyed the book. I found it believable. The fact that a non-verbal autistic girl muttered names on a list is possible, I suppose. I liked the characters. I found the ending very satisfying.

I really do like this historical fiction and Inspector Ryga is a good character. This story does not disappoint. I love revisiting these characters from previous novels. Great one!

While I loved the writing and the characters, there was a big jarring disconnect over how the girls were found. I could not suspend my disbelief for it. I did like the investigation after that. This truly was a bizarre case.

I need to state that I did finish the book. I didn't like it from the beginning when the detective used "they-them" for pronouns for the dead woman. That was weird and "telling" for the rest of the story. Using such outdated politically correct jargo ...more

I really enjoyed this book. I found it absolutely plausible that a person could discover a pattern in attacks. Dr. Hamlet Mottrell is a likeable character. Good story.
