I got this book to read and review from Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy Fanatics! It took me almost a month to finish the book and these are the reasons why:
Airel is the most annoying, self absorbed and brainless teenager you'll ever see-but then teenagers are supposed to be that way.
She kept spouting things like "Men"-they do this and that... It just made me want to ask her how many men had she been with!
How she could not see something was wrong with Micheal's beyond me-that she wasn't herself around him is not sufficient to put my doubts to rest. If she was acting that strangely, surely her *non-existent* parents and friends would have seen that.
The instant attraction between her and Micheal just rubbed me the wrong way-however, to be fair, it is supposed to be an effect caused by Micheal's demonic connections.
Kim is her one best friend who would do anything for her but Airel seems so dismissive of her- yes, I know Kim's annoying.
The whole Keiros part bored me out of my skull- Keiros was Sir Talks-a-lot and only stirred into action after half the story was over.
The story felt like it was being dragged out unnecessarily.
Stan and James- Stan was just thrown at us in the middle of the story and James being a Brother felt like an afterthought.
I don't think I'll be reading the sequel, if there's any!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Airel, with its beautiful cover and promising synopsis had me swooning over it. It sounds original, mysterious and full of action. This is all, in actuality, what we get. The angel lore is unique. I especially enjoyed how it's told in dual, past and present, point-of-views. These become two very different, interesting plot lines that merge together for an exciting spin. My main problem, and what made this fall flat for me, were the characters.

Airel leads a normal, average life when she meets Michael. She immediately falls head over heels for him. I felt their relationship was very artificial with no chemistry behind it which is almost always the case when it's so instant; I never got a chance to feel the passion take hold. I also had difficulty connecting with Airel. She has a nice personality, but nothing stands out; she's just very average. I could not comprehend some of the decisions she made either, that, to me, seemed nonsensical. When you see someone get murdered and the killer has seen you, stay with the crowd, don't go hide in a bathroom stall alone! As for Michael, he's a good character but I can't say I have a clear picture of him in my head. I feel like I didn't get to know him all that well. These characters are a part of one of the two storylines. The second storyline, happening in the past, has much more interesting personalities. Which is funny because I'm not usually into the mighty warrior stories. However, this one is exciting with a fast pace and good action scenes. I did feel a bit confused past the halfway point where the battles and twists started to all mix together, but I was still able to keep up for the most part.

What I do have to applaud is the way both considerably different storylines are weaved together so flawlessly. The jumps from past to present are never confusing. Additionally, the pacing is made so that you always want to go back to the perspective you were just pulled out of, but equally happy to stay and finally see what's happening in this one. Although the story can feel a bit drawn out at times, this dual perspective definitely helps keep you entertained. As for the plot twists, I can't say they took me by surprise, but there are still a few that I hadn't completely figured out.

Overall it's not a bad novel, If it wasn't for my non connection with the characters I probably would have enjoyed this much more. It seems to be the type that people either love, or just don't.

I received this book as a part of Read 2 Review.

I really wanted to love this book. In fact, when I started I really thought I did. I glossed over a few minor plot holes along the way. I really connected with the author’s writing style and found myself caught up his world. Only to hit a major stumbling block, one that really killed the book for me.

A shining point in this book is Kreios. His story was solid and I could understand what he was going through. Despite the plot ravine, overall I liked this book. It would have been five stars for me if not for that problem mentioned above. But don't take my word for it. You might enjoy it and not notice. So go for and give it a read.

Airel (The Airel Saga, #1)
by Aaron (Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Author), Chris White

This is the first book I’ve read by Aaron Patterson and/or Chris White, the book is written well considering there were two authors and two plots running at the same time. The writing skills of both of the authors are quite good and the descriptions of both plots flowed well together. Having said that I was at first a bit thrown that there were two stories running at the same time, but it worked out and it never became a problem for me to keep up with both stories. I kept trying to figure out how these two stories were going to mingle together and in the end it works out great. This novel is a YA Fantasy, with romance, mystery, twists and turns, heart ache moments and you get swept into both stores. It definitely is a good read.

Airel is a normal teenage girl who is a bit shy has some close friends and a good family. Life seems pretty good overall. During school she sees the new boy Michael and she feels instantly attracted to him she can’t keep her eyes off him. From here things begin to change, the author keep us in suspense around Michael and we have no idea what is going to happen with his character. As for Airel things are changing for her, her skin is flawless, her cuts are healing she begins to hear things in her head. Finding out about her history and an ancient family and warriors she knows her life is about to change and it’s hard to imagine all this is true. Can she come to terms with this?

The second story takes place around 1250 B.C. here we are introduced to Kreios, a fallen angel; his wife has just given birth to their daughter and then she passes way. Kreios knows that his daughter will not survive if he doesn’t find help; he will do anything to keep her safe. The Seer who has been after Kreios and his family has people looking for him and he knows he will have to fight to protect and save his daughter. This side story is quite interesting.

Over all this story is good, I think the only downfall is that in the beginning of the book it felt very slow moving and I put it down a few times, but I kept picking it back up and it did pay off especially in Parts 3 and 4, and these pages are written extremely well. I am pretty sure I will read the next book .

Fallen angels sure seem poised to become the new vampires with a similarly perfect blend of delicious mystery and sexy rebellion. Airel by Aaron Patterson and Chris White is a really good read, based on a well thought-out and skillfully executed plot. With its great atmosphere, beautiful characters, intriguing setting and some truly bone chilling moments, Airel is a promising beginning to a new series.

The story follows two separate plot lines, alternating between Boise, Idaho, in the present day and Arabia in 1250 B.C. The main protagonist of this story is a teenage girl named Airel. There’s nothing extraordinary about her. She’s smart, loves reading books and could easily get straight A’s if she wanted to, but she prefers to stay under the radar and blend in most of the time. Although she might not be the hottest girl in school, she’s not the ugliest one either with her petite frame, long dark hair and brown eyes, she’s actually pretty cute-looking. Popularity is the last thing on Airel’s mind, she gets all the attention she needs from her best friend, Kim, and her loving parents. She seems perfectly content with her mundane yet happy life. But this idyllic life of hers is about to change. One morning, on her way to school, she decides to drop by her favorite coffee shop and pick up a coconut latte. That’s when she first meets him—the most gorgeous guy ever. The attraction is instantaneous, and Airel can’t help falling for the handsome stranger. The mysterious hottie turns out to be her new classmate, who recently moved to the town (surprise, surprise!) and against all odds he seems to be just as fascinated with Airel, as she is with him. Sounds like a perfect love story? Well, it’s not! Something weird is happening to Airel. She’s getting more and more beautiful every day and I don’t mean it as in I-got-myself-a-new-awesome-makeup-kit kind of way, but it’s more like a holly-crap-I-look-like-a-goddess-(yay!) sort of thing. And as cool as it sounds, it’s not the only change Airel’s experiencing. Her wounds are healing in a matter of seconds and every once in a while she spontaneously vomits (that’s what I call a unique blend of abilities! LOL). And like that wasn’t enough, there’s also the creepy killer who’s stalking her, she starts hearing voices in her head and her new boyfriend is not exactly who he claims to be! How much crazier can it get?

The second storyline takes place in Arabia, in 1250 B.C and follows Kreios and an ancient family of fallen angels. Kreios is a grief-stricken husband who just lost the love of his life. His wife died while giving birth to his daughter and now he must do everything in his power to protect the newborn child from the Seer. With the evil forces pursuing them, the race against time begins. Will he be able to save his daughter?

This book started off rather slow, but once it picks up the momentum, it can be hard to put down. There were many aspects of it that I really enjoyed, but at the same time there were quite a few things that I didn’t like. For instance, I didn’t really dig the whole love-at-first-sight thing, and not because I don’t believe in it, I just didn’t feel itI just didn’t see this amazing chemistry between them. For absolutely no reason other than physical beauty, the two become obsessed with each other. There was a constant thought train of "Oh he’s so handsome!", "Oh I can't stop staring at him!", "Oh his eyes are so beautiful!" etc.. One minute Airel and Micheal are on their first date and then next thing you know she’s willing to risk her own life to try and protect him. And she doesn’t even know the guy! It felt rushed and unnatural, and I would much rather see their relationship developing slowly over time.

The characters are vivid and interesting, but not developed enough. It was interesting to follow their stories, but I didn’t really feel emotionally attached to them. By the end of the novel, I didn't feel as if I knew them any better than I did in the beginning, and it’s a shame, because there is plenty of wasted potential there! I feel that the authors did a good job writing from the female character’s point of view, although it wasn’t as good as what Rusty Fischer pulled off in Zombies Don’t Cry.

I think Aaron Patterson and Chris White did a fantastic job integrating both plot lines. The transitions between the present and the past were very smooth, making it easy to follow the story line without getting lost or confused. The story started off slow and at the beginning it was hard to find the connection between both plot lines, but if you keep on reading you will be rewarded with the most phenomenal ending ever. Suddenly all the pieces fall into place and you’re amazed at how well though-out the whole thing was.

Overall, it was a good book, with solid and enjoyable plot. Airel is definitely a promising beginning of a new, intriguing series and I can’t wait to find out where the authors will take us in the next books!

*some spoilers

I am so annoyed with this book that I simply have to let out a few curses.

Bloodyhellgoddamnfuckingshit.

I had high hopes for this book after a trend of reading several shitty YA paranormal books lately. Too bad it's now in that shitty pile.

There was something really off about the narration. It felt like a report ("I did this and then I did that" kind of speech) rather than a narration I would have felt a part of, or at least an emotional journey (or whatever) I'd have been welcomed into.

Secondly, Airel (I think of the detergent, not the mermaid) was a weak WEAK protagonist. Personally, I prefer my female progs with some backbone, and cojones (theoretically speaking!).

The girl looked almost insane whenever she met Michael, a tongue-tied drooler who was a bit vain and couldn't use common sense to save her life. Literally. Remember when she skipped out of the movie theatre SOLO after witnessing a murder? It confirmed her idiocy and insanity.

I didn't like ANY of the characters. They were nothing extraordinary or entertaining, including the male star, Michael, who absolutely did nothing for moi. He wasn't sexy, he wasn't intriguing....he wasn't any of that stuff Airel described!!

And Kim...what a bore.

With the Arabian angels/whatever-they-ended-up-to-be of 1250 Jesus Years joining the cast, the book got messed up. Back and forth narration between the dude with the kid and Airel...boring. Eventually, I gave up skipping pages to declaring it "not worth another minute".

Sorry, Aaron.
Cool cover, though.

This book was (I'm sorry) utter trash. Seriously? All through the book, i was not touched by the story nor did i feel connected, in any way, to the characters.

So its about this girl called Airel (beautiful name, by the way) who was average and wanted to stay average and normal. Not that it's bad or anything.. Anyway, she met this guy on her way to school and acted the part of the drooling weak-kneed girl that she was in perfect sequence. Really, she gawked and then spilled her coffee on another guy. After which she..y'know what, i dont even want to talk about this book's summary because i really am in no mood after wasting HOURS of my time and leaving me feeling completely annoyed and unaccomplished.

First things first: She DROOLED at a complete stranger, poured coffee on another guy, lost her tongue whenever he talked to her at first, fell in love with him before her second meeting, and guess what? Cherry on top of the whole freaking dung cake - the guy wasnt even swoon-worthy bf material. Ok, i read lots of YA novels and have come to have very high expectations of the male protagonist in every new book that i'd pick up. I mean come on, he just showed that he "desired" her(quoted the word) and oh swoon..She "melts into a puddle of goo".

More complaints about the female lead cast? She cries a hell lot. Ok i get that her life hasnt been smooth and she's having a tough time taking it all in, but hello? Enough's enough. You'd think after bawling her eyes out 5 times would at least let some normalcy in her psyche settle in but noooo. She cries. Every. Freaking. Day. Why? I have no idea.

One plus point tho (and i tell you it will only be the only one): Lots of potential and awesome book cover. Actually, it was both of this that made me more inclined to start this book rather than the other books in my TBR list. Ok, plus point over. Now back to the bad.

Bad point number 2: On top of her not-very-independent character, it's that she blushes a lot (i dont know why, but i somehow found that irritating too..I think i was already getting close to losing it at this point. The book was awfully boring. To say the least) and she doesnt use the grey matter that i wonder if God actually bestowed upon her. Imagine this: you caught a killer red handed in a dark movie theatre and the killer saw you looking at him. Would you stay in the theatre with your friends and a whole crowd of unknowing people, y'know they say comfort in mass and all that, or would you run out of the theatre ALONE and trap yourself in a bathroom stall where the killer can obviously excuse himself politely and discreetly from the theatre and hunt you down like a trapped rabbit? Oh let's see..Option 1, option 2, option 1, option 2. Guess what? She went for..dun dun dunnnnnn. The great 2.

Bad point number 3: She talks to herself. Not often, more interspersely in the book. But..She talks to herself. I shant elaborate further.

Bad point number 4: Patterson uses weird descriptions sometimes. (Oh but there are some that are really stunning. Real ironic if you ask me. It's like this on and off thing. One moment the illustrations are vivid, magical and enchanting. The next? ..Not so) And i think her mind works too fast or something when she writes. Because the book's average pace is pretty slow, but sometimes at some random, totally non-climatical points in time speeds up real fast and then i get lost. Then she reverts back to the normal snail pace.

I have to admit that i truly am greatly disappointed with this book. There seemed to be so much potential, with the absolutely stunning cover with a gorgeous girl on it, and that cool switching back and forth of the era thing? I mean..I dont get it.. The book was absurdly..bad and i really felt like stopping so many times throughout the entire reading process, but then i still held on to around four fifths of the book cause i was still waiting for climax and the ultimate hooking feeling i get everytime i read a good book. It's like the feeling lingers just over yonder, you can actually graze it with your fingers, but you can never grasp it. Also, there was this once where the book came remotely close to being interesting, Patterson just changed scene abruptly and yeah. I mean, why keep the shit dangling right? Ok im getting vulgar and this is a sign to stop writing.

Actually even tho i've rated it a tragic one, you guys can still read it. I think it's mainly because of my foul exam mood that made me a little more impatient and grumpy. Or maybe not. Who knows?

Anyway, bottomline: Bad book. For me.

PS. I still feel so sad for my lost time.TT I took so long to read this because of how slow and draggy it was. Sigh. Haha, sorry this review seemed more like a bitching session, but it's an honest one, that i can assure you.

This book is first and foremost about Airel, your typical teenage girl. She has a pretty good life, a good family, friends, and is a little shy. Overall, her life is pretty good. In walks the cliche: Michael. New boy in school, dreamy, and you cannot deny the attraction felt between the him and Airel. Even though I've seen this played out time and time again, the author keeps enough mystery surrounding Michael that we are not quite sure where he stands or what is coming. With their first meeting, Airel's life begins to change. Airel is forced to come to terms with these changes and admit that things exist in this world that she had never thought possible and also to discover a past that she didn't know existed.

I normally like having different point of views in a story, but in this case I really liked being in Airel's head. We get the story from the Airel's viewpoint, and she was quite funny and witty. I'm impressed that this book was written by a couple of guys, as they did an excellent job of portraying this teenage girl. I'm sure that was not easy to pull off, but somehow they did it!

There is also a second story line to this book, which takes place in 1250 B.C. and follows Kreios, a fallen angel. When we first are introduced to Kreios, his wife had just given birth and then shortly after died, and we follow him as he struggles to keep his daughter safe from those who are after them. I think the authors did a great job of integrating both plots. The transitions between the two stories were smooth, making it easy to follow each without getting lost or confused, again not an easy thing to do. At first I could not connect the two stories, each one seeming to be separate from the other, but in the end they are beautifully woven together.

I really enjoyed the descriptiveness of this book. The scenery, people, and emotions were described with such great detail, it was easy to visualize the settings and become absorbed in the characters. I cannot wait for the next book in the series!

P.S. I know it's been mentioned, but the cover is absolutely beautiful!

Airel would technically be classified as a YA book because one of the main characters is seventeen years old. But, there is another story going on unfolding in the pages of this book about Kreios. This is more of an adult story. I would say that this is a book that can be enjoyed by all ages.

Airel is a young woman who's life begins to change when a really cute boy moves into the school and her body begins to undergo changes that are abnormal. Then to top off everything she witnesses a murder and then she is stalked by the killer. She begins to fall into the obsessive love pattern that we see in so many YA novels and learn about who she is and her role in the universe at the same time.

Kreios is a fallen angel. His story is told about his fall and the woman he loved. The child that they had and then the war to stop the evil from spreading and killing the rest of the fallen angels and his daughter.

Somewhere in the middle the two stories merge and the destinies of Kreios and Airel collide and become one. Airel learns what the true meaning of love is, and to be able to truly love she must be whole and healthy emotionally.

I found the beginning of Airel's story to trite and predictable. I was pleased that the author's turned the story around. Definitely worth taking the time to read this story. I plan on reading the second, "Michael", and any that may come after.

This book was very hard for me to review. I found the Arabia sections to be very boring and not necessary. I read about the first three sections and then proceeded to skip them all together there after. It was back story that I didn't think we really needed. The characters I felt stood well on their own and didn't really need all this extra story added. Personally I would of cut out all of that and worked on building Airel and Micheal's relationship. And then I would of taken and made the Arabia stuff into a prequel.

The book really only got good about 75% of the way into it. I did like the ending their was a little bit of a twist to it which I liked. Despite my various problems with the book I am still interested in continuing the series if the book is $5.00 or less on Amazon for Kindle.

I have had the chance to interview C.P. White before and was looking forward to interviewing him today. He did not disappoint; the interview was fresh, fun and a blast as I had hoped. Here is the link to today’s show:

Okay let’s get to the novel we discussed shall we:
“All Airel ever wanted to be was normal, to disappear into the crowd. But bloodlines can produce surprises, like sudden mysterious illness. Then there’s Michael Alexander, the new guy in school, who is impossibly gorgeous…and captivated by her. Somewhere in the back of her mind she can hear the sound of pages turning, and another, older story being written. It is the story of an ancient family, of great warriors, of the Sword of Light, and the struggle against an evil so terrible, so far-reaching, that it threatens everything she hopes for even now. Airel knew change would be inevitable as life went on. But can she hold on when murder and darkness begin to close in and take away everything she loves? Will she have what it takes when the truth is finally revealed?
I enjoy this type of work. Yes, me the guy that likes the car explosions and murder mysteries can and does groove on YA material. I like sharing this kind of stuff with my youngest daughter; it’s fun. But the thing of it is not only does this dynamic duo climb into the pure essence of a young woman and does it in spades, but they craft a novel that is challenging, engaging and heartfelt. Tough to do but they made it look and feel easy and organic. The read is quick and moving in many ways. I am a bit surprised by the number of emotionally moving reads I have had lately. Great stuff, check this novel out, it is worth the investment in time and self.
Things have changed around here. I am now the published author by Trestle Press of “I Have Chrome Balls, Don’t You? an “In Between The Collaborations, “Down Low- Dead with Vincent Zandri, “The Jersey Shore Has Eyes with Big Daddy Abel, “G.S.I Gelati’s Scoop Investigations Psychotic Detectives with Thomas White, “Who Whacked The Blogger with Benjamin Sobieck,“Thad and The G-Man’s Most Awesome Adventure with Thad Brown , “Hotel Beaumont with B.R. Stateham, “Bring Us Your Living…Now! with HR Toye and the soon to be released “Edge of Cataclysmic with Big Daddy Abel. All the stories are available @ Amazon, Barnes & Nobles and Smashwords. I am also the host of the wildly popular The G-ZONE blogtalk radio show. Thanks for stopping by today; We will see you tomorrow. Have a great day.

Ok I have read a lot of fallen angel stories, but....none like this. So where to start?

Well first I just have to say the cover is breathtaking, absolutely amazing! I know that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, and all that blah blah blah....but I mean come on!! You have to admit it calls to you. lolz

But whats waiting behind that cover? Well lets continue on shall we?

Airel is just an average highschool girl. Living an average life. Trying to stay out of the limelight of popularity at school. At times feeling ackward, and confused as most teenage girls do. Although I do have to say she is less niave than most girls her age. She knows that falling for a boy, and becoming hopelessly in love will only hurt her in the end. She's smart in that way, and I heart her for it. In the end though, no matter how hard you try, no matter how old you are, love knows no boundaries. Love conqures all. It makes you fall first, and ask questions later. She was supposed to just be a job for Micheal....is it possible Airel isn't the only one who is gonna feel the fall-out from loves wrath? When the battle wages, and loves sinks it's teeth into you, the question is are you willing to die for it?

We must all die, before we can live.....if only we really understood how true that is.

This book takes you through a journey. I love how you not only get the present day story of Airel, but you also get the story behind the story. The flashbacks, and different points of view make this all the more interesting. At first everything seems kinda detached. Like story A, doesn't quite line up with story B, but them BAM all the pieces fall into place, your heart starts to pull from your chest, and the ending....OMG the ending. There is the YA stories of young love, we've all read them. We've all even fallin for them. We've sat on the edge of of seat, white knuckle gripping the book, while the lovers fight side by side. We have cried for them. This book left me to stunned to cry. It went beyond that. What if I told you not only does love have no boundaries, but it was so strong it could cross the enemy line of a war that as been raging since the great fall? Can a love really be the tie that binds the side of GOD with the side of Evil?

Or will mortal enemies remain mortally damaged.....

Nope, nope I've already said to much. Now go run along a grab yourself a copy!

This book was a bit slow to start off with but then it did gradually pick up pace. It was a good book but some of the time I got a bit sidetracked because some parts didn't fully have my attention. Because of this I was not as shocked about everything as I should have been and the only thing that happened was that my eyes went wide and I continued reading but from saying that there was no real shock for me. Yes it was a good book overall but it did at times drag on a bit. I do still want to read the second book because I want to know what happens to everyone and what she ends up doing. I wonder now if the second book will be in Michael's point of view because it's his title. It would be quute refreshing as well to get more from his point of view.

Also I couldn't believe how quickly time passed in this book. And the constant change in time and characters made me want to continue reading but then sometimes it went on too long and the constant change made me have to think about what happened before because of the previous time that we were in and getting aborbed into that time and not thinking back of the previous time and events that took place after the chapter finished and moves on. Sometimes the chapters in one time did carry on a bit too much but because of this it also adds to the way that we forget what happens previously before we are transported into a new time and a new persona.

This book felt like it was two different stories within one book. I kept hoping we would find out how they connect but we never do. Personally I didn't feel anything for the characters so I will not waste my time continuing this series.

An amazing story that will captivate audiences ranging from young adult to the young at heart! Airel crosses boundaries in a fascinating and unforgettable way to engage readers within a story that will not soon be forgotten!

First of all, I have to say - I LOVE THIS COVER!! Is it not gorgeous?! Remarkably, this simple, yet complex, portrait does an amazing job encapsulating the story held within. With that being said, I throughly have to commend the authors, Aaron Patterson and Chris White. The ability to tell an amazing and vivid story from the point of view of a young female teenager, while being male, is absolutely incredible. They are able to truly capture the essence of teenagers, their thoughts, attitude and use of slang. Amazing. Now, to the story...

Airel actually tells two stories, interwoven into one. The main story focuses on Airel, a young teenage girl, who has lead quite a normal life until one day she meets a gorgeous stranger and new guy at school, Michael. He is everything she had ever dreamed of and most incredibly, he is into her in a big way. However, that isn't the strange thing. The crazy thing is that all of a sudden Airel becomes more and more beautiful - not a flaw in sight, upon her skin or hair, wounds suddenly heal within seconds and worst of all - a killer is on the loose, claiming to know "what" Airel is.

The second story, which takes place throughout Airel, is about Kreios and an ancient family of fallen angels, during the time period of 1250 BC. Kreios has lost his beloved wife and will do anything to protect his young infant daughter from the Seer and their enemies. But will he be able to keep her safe forever and before it is too late?

Though there are two different stories, the transitions are excellent and done in such a way that the reader will never feel lost. On the contrary, before each time period transition, the authors have a knack for leaving the reader hanging, dying to find out what is going to happen next. Very clever on the part of the author. This also makes racing through the book a must. Can you say "Hard to put down?!"

In addition to the excellent characterization, the settings are incredibly vivid and the story is told in a way that the reader becomes absorbed within the feelings and emotions that are being played out. The flow of the story is smooth and tight and leaves the reader yearning to discover what is going to happen.

One of my favorite lines (among many) within Airel, is one that will tug at the hearts of many readers, and for which many readers will easily be able to relate to:

'I always had to buy a book, even if I wasn't done with the one I was currently reading. I loved to read. I felt like the turn of each page echoed inside the world between the covers - and each book had its own rules. There, within the mystique of that connection, was something special, and it was addictive.'

While being a story of imagination and fiction, there are many elements throughout that are truly lifelike, such as the characterizations and moral thoughts. Entertaining, provocative and mesmerizing. Airel is an amazing story that I highly recommend to everyone - male, female, young or not so young.

I have had this fascination with fallen angel stories lately and I just love them. I expected Airel to be similar to most of the fallen angel stories I've read but it is nothing like those except that it is about a fallen angel. This was such a unique twist to the common way angels are portrayed. There are two stories going on through most of the book that are woven together at the end.

First you have the story set in present day Boise, ID where an average high school girl Airel is just living her normal life when suddenly hot new boy enters and she catches the love bug! The second story is about the fallen angel Kreios dated back in 1250 BC and his struggles with losing his wife and then the battles of the Brotherhood. In Part 1 of this book having the 2 separate stories going on was a bit hard to follow but you instantly were connected to the lives of Kreios and Airel.

One of the things I liked most about this story is the main character Airel. The authors nailed a typical teenage girl with the glimpses they give us of being inside her head. I love how we see in to her mind, because it is pretty hilarious in there. There were so many quotes I loved, here is a favorite: "Sometimes I watched all the popular girls, wondering if they actually had brains or if they just ran on batteries, plugging in at night to charge their ever-so-perfect personalities. No bitterness here!"

There wasn't a whole lot of dialogue in this story; most of it is coming from the minds of the characters. This was a new way to read a story, I did enjoy it, although at times I wished there was more conversations going on. You get to see in the minds of Airel, of Kreios, and of a killer. The struggle between good and evil is the forefront of this great story!

The ending was the best! I was a bit frustrated at how things were going and wasn't sure I'd like the way it ended but the authors sure pulled out the big stuff for an ending that leaves you begging for the next book!

I loved the message that is being taught; "you don't need a man to love you and make you special, you are special because you are you...see and believe you are one of God's children; that's what makes you special."

Great YA fantasy that I highly recommend to those that love the fallen angel stories like Hush, Hush and others alike.

I received this book free from PUYB for my honest opinion and review. I would not recommend this book if I didn't enjoy it!

First off, I want to thank Aaron Patterson for allowing R2R the opportunity to read and review his book. Secondly, I want to apologize for how long it took me to finish the book- had a rough month- cars becoming FUBAR, getting sick...

Airel is a YA story about your average brunette teenager. She's refreshing because she's not a blonde, bimbo cheerleader but rather an easy to identify with character (regardless of reader's age.) She has a random encounter (with an embarrassing latte spill on her part) with the newest student. His near movie-star looks have the female population of the school pining for him, and she dismisses any possibility of snaring his interest.

Despite an odd sickness that seems to grab her at the worst times, and prompts ridicule from her classmates, Michael Alexander still seems to be making a point to say hello and pop up at odd times with her best friend's latest crush. All four end up at a movie together, and Airel witnesses something that both shocks her, and further sets in motion a terrible chain of events that she finds started thousands of year before she was born....

This is a really innocent, and epic YA tale. You can give this to any teen with no fear or worry of a wrong message, or strong content that you don't want them exposed to. The point of view switches back and forth (primarily) from Airel in the present to Krieos (an angel) from the past. There are a few insights into the "bad guy's" mind and even Michael's as well- but they are brief. It involves young love (without a single kiss, let alone anything heavier), duty, finding the truth about themselves, betrayal ....

I really enjoyed this book. It's really almost like reading several books, with the time span and how the "chapters" are broken up. If you enjoy urban fantasy, don't mind YA (and the lack of physical romance) I would highly recommend this book. If you love books with Angels - this is a must-read. I will definitely be looking forward to the next books in the series, especially with the ending of this one. If you're a crier by nature, grab the tissues. I did not personally succumb to tears, but it did touch my heart.

Far be it from me to be the only one in the publishing universe not to mention how gorgeous the cover of "Ariel" is! So dense and mysterious, the consummate lonely and emotionally injured, beautiful young girl, dressed in black, yet holding a pure, white feather... A lot of symbolism and "telling" on the cover of a novel, once again. So, we actually can tell a book by its cover...

This book is one that marks a ribbon-cutting moment for me. I traditionally find books written by two authors to be a conscienciousness mishmash that tries to be cohesive. I frankly avoid them. To me, they generally fall into the category of authors trying to write sequels to dead author's books. Gives me shivers! "Ariel" is an exception to this prejudice I've held. May make me rethink that prejudice.

These men are so acutely aware of each other's writing style that the book flows pretty much without a snag. There is much eloquence in their protagonist "Ariel's" thoughts, a depth of understanding of women, a rendering of an anti-hero who is daunting.

While I have difficulty, as well, reading anything about "fallen angels," the situation and story was dealt with essentially in a manner that didn't completely stretch it to the demonic extreme. These characters, both good and evil were believeable and within the realm of the possible.

Because the worlds were well imagined, it was easy to follow the story after a bit of an early slow start. Sometimes, in books of this type, it takes a little time to move into the imaged worlds and character consciousness. Because much of the dialog is in the mind of Ariel...we experience a different sort of reading process.

This is a book young adults will enjoy and carry around this summer, I think. Once they put it down, I recommend picking it up for a couple of nights of guilty reading. It's really good.

I wasn't going to start my review of Airel by mentioning the cover. I always seem to to start a review gushing about how awesome the cover is. But seriously.... Look at it!! Who wouldn't want to read a book with a cover that looked as good as that!! Absolutely stunning!!

I was very interested to read a book written by two males telling the story from the perspective of a teenage girl. And to be honest whilst reading it, that aspect didn't even enter my mind. I think they did a fantastic job portraying Airel. Sometimes when you have two authors collaborating together you can end up with a mish mash of a story, but this flows and blends beautifully!!

This book is written as two differing stories. Airel's story in the present day and Kreios's story from 1250BC.

Airel is your average teenage girl dealing with average teenage girl stuff. And then Michael Alexander enters the picture .... If I had to find one negative with the book, it would be that I didn't feel there was enough development in the building of Airel and Michael's relationship and feelings for one another. To me it felt like they had just met and then the next minute they were in love.

Kreios is an ancient warrior, loving , strong and fierce and I really enjoyed reading his story.

Aaron Patterson and Chris White are very descriptive in their writing and I had no trouble visualizing the scenes they were describing. The build up in the storyline in the final chapters was intense and gripping and had me sitting on the edge of my seat!!.This is a book that I thoroughly enjoyed and the teaser at the end for book 2, Michael has me looking forward to reading more.

4.5/5

Airel is an incredible story! A seemingly regular teenaged girl, Airel, has always blended in. She has parents that she adores and a best friend who is the sister she never had, her life is pretty good. One faithful morning she stops for a cup of coffee on her way to school, encounters a "dreamy" guy, and life as she knows it begins to change. These changes are subtle at first, but the entire fabric of her existence has been altered forever. Airel is about to discover things about herself and a past that she didn't know existed.

In the meantime, a war between the Angels of God and the demonic Brotherhood rages is on in 1250 B.C. Kreios, an angel, must fight to protect his newborn daughter and his own kind. The world of Ariel and Kreios collide to make a fantastic story!

Don't let the beautiful cover art fool you, this is an amazing story! Authors, Aaron Patterson and Chris White have created a novel that transports the reader. I was very surprised at how well they were able to go back and forth in time, without it feeling forced or contrived. The two stories mesh together to devise a brilliant climax!

I was provided with a free ebook version of this book, but I was not required to write a positive review. The views expressed are my own.

I find it difficult to review this story. I think the story itself was great, but when you don't like the main love interest of the lead character, you are in trouble.

Airel is a funny and shy girl, with a best friend named Kim and a lovely family. Then she meets Michael and everything changes. They have what you call, instant love. I am not a big fan of instant love, I think the writer should've put more time in building their relationship and could've made the Arabia parts shorter. They were interesting but not every part was necessary. The present day story is great, I had no idea what was going to happen and the ending is seriously shocking. I love Airel in this story, but Michael not so much. He ruined it for me, I felt no sympathy for him whatsoever. I kept wishing he would die or something, or just turn out to be a big jackass. I think I would've given this book four stars if Michael had been a bit more likeable.

Would I recommened this book? No, but I think that people who like Angel stories should give it a try.

This was probably the worst book I have read so far this year. I couldn't even bring myself to continue reading it past the first 6 or so chapters. There was a lot of "My life revolves around him." and "Oh, the simmering heat of his molten hot gaze burned my heart into a fiery inferno." ... to summarize I had NO clue what was going on. None. The first two chapters are filled with this limp little teenage romance that literally started out of NOTHING. The rest I don't know because after we switched into something about fallen angels and brotherhood warriors I gave up and called it a no go for this story.

I see some 4's and 5's star wise for this book and I'm really wondering what's up with you guys. Thank goodness this was a free Kindle loan or I would be ready to call Amazon crying for my money back.

This was a completely different book for angels. It does take you between 3 point of views which at first can be distracting but it blends very well once you get use to it. I love Kreios's character. There is a love at first site with Airel & Michael which to me was pretty quick, they didn't really have the time to get to know one another. Overall it was a good book, one that I would recommend. Like I said it's definitely not like other angel/demon books out there! - I purchased this on my Nook Color.

I really liked this book. I liked Kreios' story added in with the current. I gave you the background you needed. Just enough to keep things rolling and not too much that you got frustrated and wanted to get back to the main character. There were some interesting twists in the book that some didn't exactly see coming. The ending was also left hanging in a good way, that makes sure you pick up the next book, as soon as possible, to see what surprises are in store for you.

I just finished reading the newly-released Airel by Aaron Patterson and Chris White. It was amazing! Great story line that pulled me through to the end... now impatiently waiting for Book #2 "Michael." I love that this story hasn't been "done" before. It's new, it's refreshing, and it's a fun ride. I will definitely read the rest of the series.

Well, it's a little sad how it all ends... So very tragic! But it's well written, really interesting, and I think it's different how it goes between present day and past to give a back story in the middle of the present story... I really like this one, I'll be reading the next installment.
