Did anyone who does not enjoy classics like this book? This is kind of urgent so I'd appreciate it if someone answered it fast.

Kevin A strange question! What you are assuming is that if you enjoy one classic that you will enjoy all classics. This is not the case. Like contemporary novels different genres appeal to different people. Some will love classic romantic novels and some will abhor them. But if they have lasted the test of time then there has to be something special about them. You could be unlucky and try 2 or 3 and just not be able to get into them but you could be lucky and find the right ones straight away. There are classics like 'War and Peace', 'Les Miserables', 'Hard Times' and 'Ulysses' that I don't think I will ever read - they seem like too much hard work. Actually I have tried Ulysses and it is next to impossible to read (less than 5% of those that tried it managed to finish it - and most of those don't understand it). Yet it is often regarded as the best book ever written! Whereas one of James Joyce's other books 'Dubliners' is an easy read. Classics that I would recommend are Bram Stoker's 'Dracula', Oscar Wilde's 'The Picture of Dorian Gray', Mary Shelley's 'Frankenstein', Arthur Conan Doyle's 'Sherlock Holmes', anything by Agatha Christie, Graham Greene or Raymond Chandler and, of course, 'Oliver Twist'.

mairiachi I don't really like classics but I'm enjoying it currently. It's kind of like a roller-coaster, good at some parts, boring in others...

Meredith MacInnis He was SUCH a good writer, and so deeply understood and conveyed the plight of the poor! I wish this book was mandatory Grad 10 or 11 in the school system! Writing so vivid you want to just read a page a day to make it last!

Lydia Hale I enjoy classics so not sure whether I should answer. I just finished reading Oliver Twist, the first Dickens book I have ever read. I thought it was excellent! Writers like Dickens of the 19th century use such rich descriptive language, and their characters come to life! Some parts of classic literature may be overwhelming for those who like lighter reading only, but I think they are excellent reading!

Frederick Herrmann Written in installments so plot doesn't form so precisely. Plot also has some contrivances as was popular (or acceptable) for the writing of the time. Otherwise, though, a really great piece of literature - satire, really, but not the funny stuff.

Shuaib Gill I love reading Dickens books. I have read a Christmas Carol, Great Expectations and Oliver Twist, and all 3 are amazing. Charles Dickesn is the best!

Jessica Five years late but here's my two cents:

I first tried to read this book as an e-book but couldn't get past the first chapter. Then I tried listening to it as an audiobook and it flowed like water! For me some classics that I find hard to read on page/screen is easy to listen to so try audio-versions of classics. You can find free unabridged audiobooks of most classic novels on youtube. As for 'Oliver Twist' I'm really enjoying the story so far.

Reader When I first read this book, I wasn't into classics as much as I am now, or books for that matter. However, as I read more and more books and classics, it seemed to appeal to me more. To really enjoy this book, read it with a good mindset, and possibly with a dictionary.

Irxdeo I enjoy classics, but I didn't like this book, it was way too dark and not in a good way, and it seemed to drag on forever and it was too many people with too many warped and cruel intentions
