W. Cameron asked:

Question: if you read A Dog's Purpose and liked it, did you then read A Dog's Journey, the sequel? And if not, why not? Would appreciate any insights. Thank you!

Cathy I read A Dog's Purpose in two sessions (only because I had to go to work) through tears. As a dog lover and Veterinary Technician, it hurt to read the neglect and abuse. But those tears turned to happiness and then to sadness. My opinion was that you really understood dogs. (read my review) I wondered where this writer had been hiding? 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter?!?! Not my thing at all. Then I enjoyed A Dog's Journey and Emory's Gift, then finally read 8 Simple Rules, really disappointing after the first 3 I read. I've not yet read The Dogs of Christmas, looking forward though, (too many books on my lists) and I do want to read The Midnight Plan... I doubt I'll read any more How to... or Rules..., just not something I'm interested in (even though when I like an author, I try to read everything)
Nancy I actually read the sequel first, then went back and read the first one. Absolutely loved them both and don't think it matters which order you read them in. Certain phrases will always stick with me from these books, and it gives me a possible window to my great dog's motivations. I enjoyed them immensely and they touched my heart.
Chelsea I've read read all of your books except Emory's Gift (which I will read at some point). A Dog's Purpose is one of my all time favorite books, I've read it about 10 times. I found A Dog's Journey just as amazing/powerful. I recently bought Ellie's Story, but I'm debating reading it as I'm nervous it would spoil my reading experience of A Dog's Purpose.
Michele A Dog's Purpose is probably one of my favorite books of all time :) And I was very excited to hear that A Dog's Journey was coming out. I got it the day it was released.
P.S. A Dog's Purpose was the first book I bought when I got my first kindle. :)
I love books I read them both. They are life changing, especially if you have deeply loved and lost a dog.
Michele I read A Dog's Journey first. I loved it and the way it opened my heart. Then I read A Dog's Purpose. That's just how they came to me. Had to read the second book because the first was delicious. Simple stories of connection and 'going on.' Noticing, embracing, treasuring life at its best. Thank you for the gift.
Tanya Yes and I read The Dogs of Christmas too & loved them all!! Now I am looking forward to reading Emory's Gift. The way that he describes euthanasia, it made it not quite so sad. So, all thumbs up to Mr. Cameron!!
Julie A Dog's Purpose is one of my favorite reads as well. And yes, I did read A Dog's Journey, the sequel. Equally as good.
Jes Jones Read A Dog's Purpose - loved it!! Decided to read the sequel because it existed and I enjoyed reading it but still remain devoted to A Dog's Purpose.
Kathy Marcheselli Yes, read them both as well as Emory's Gift and look forward to reading more of your work.
Holly Read them and loved them both!
Patricia I read The Dog's Journey first & loved it so I looked for more books by you & found The Dog's Purpose. I then realized I had not read them in order. I loved them both but to me The Dog's Purpose was the better of the two. I sure would like to read another one by you. I have recommended these books to lots of friend & to my book club.
Heather I've read all the books and have loved them all!
Jan Brejska Yes! I loved A Dog's Purpose so much that I talked about it and recommended it to many friends. Then the sequel A Dog's Journey came along, and I read that one too. The story of our beloved dog friend continued and concluded in a most satisfying way. Together these two books changed forever the way I understand my own dog and even the way I communicate and relate with her. Just in case she gets to live those other lives and remember me; plus, she has an "old soul" presence as if she's been here before. I have read other dog books by this author and find them all to be wonderful heartwarming stories.
Shoto I did like it but it was a bit rough and I haven’t read a dogs journey because I haven’t had the time
Alyssa Yessss! Read the sequel they are all so good! totally worth it
Nicole Goff I just finished a dog's purpose. I got a dog's way home as a gift and decided to read the dogs purpose books before I read that one. Now I liked the book but i don't think I'm going to read the 2nd book. I think it's because i seen the movies first before i read the book. I'm sure sometime in the future I might read the second book but not right now. I do love the movies though 😁

Cheryl Finished it today, and it is without a doubt my favorite ever book. Just lost one of our babies and it comforted me, broke my heart, and comforted me over again. I didn't know about the sequel. But, you can count on it I will.
Tiffie I read the sequel today, I felt like this story was more serious as the plot line was more dark. I felt like the original had ended wonderfully at a full circle. I would recommend this book, but the first one is definitely my favorite of the two.
Debbie G I immediately went and bought A Dogs Journey . I just needed to and then sent it on to my daughter who shared the first one with me.
Suzette Wells I read A Dog's Purpose first then had to read A Dog's Journey.
These books are awesome and could make losing your canine best friend a little bearable.
Alyssa Thompson Dog love. Walk outside
Jacqueline Kuhn Yes, I read both and balled my eyes out. Both excellant reads.
Karen Yes, I went straight for the sequel! Did not disappoint.
