Anna asked Elizabeth George:

Do you have a favorite author that inspires you? Do you write in other genres? What types of books do you read?

Elizabeth George The authors that have inspired me the most are John Fowles, John LeCarre, and A.S. Byatt. I have specific favorites among their books. For Fowles it's The Magus and The French Lieutenant's Woman; for LeCarre, it's Little Drummer Girl, The Constant Gardener, and The Perfect Spy. For A.S. Byatt it's Possession. I've written 5 Young Adult novels, a book of short stories, and two non-fiction books on writing. I love to read good non-fiction (Erik Larson, David Grann, Daniel James Brown), but I also read memoirs and fiction as well. I pick things off the bookstore shelves, I read reviews and become intrigued by a book, I read the recommendations that bookstore employees write on cards beneath books.
