Sherri Winston
Sherri Winston asked Jacqueline Woodson:

I've followed your career for years. When I was first starting out as an author, I'd see your stuff and I was so envious. "Who is this ol' Jacqueline Woodson, anyway?" I've learned exactly who she is and I've grown up enough as a writer to know it is better to feel inspired than envious. I hope to honor the legacy you've created for fantastic, meaningful story telling about girls of color.

Jacqueline Woodson Envy and doubt are two of a writer's worst enemies. The children's book writing world is small and the world of children's book writers of color is even smaller -- hence, we all need to support each other. My hope is that I'm writing now to make a way for your stories later -- So write them! Finish them!! Make them fabulous! The world is waiting! x
