Not really my favorite beginning, with twin brothers both looking for women. Henri the hero is shown to have a connection with our heroine at their first meeting but they still sleep together right away which makes her feel bad, and she runs away when he immediately takes a call from a woman. (His sister we later find out)
Fast forward and he convinces her to be his mistress, and he promises to let her go when she’s ready to get married and have children.
I liked Cinnia as a heroine, she was strong and independent to a fault. When she realizes she’s pregnant, she won’t pressure him and actually leaves him because he doesn’t want marriage or kids.
It fell short for me when he finds out about the pregnancy. Of course it’s painted eventually that he loved her but was afraid of commitment and has issues from his sister’s kidnapping years ago. But I wanted to feel way more love and angst on his part. Even at 80% into the book, she’s wondering if he cares for her. I think this depth could’ve been explored more!...more

Amelia’s mother was married to Teo’s father, a Duke, when Amelia was **spoiler alert** I felt like this had potential but sadly didn’t live up to it.
Amelia’s mother was married to Teo’s father, a Duke, when Amelia was a teenager. Teo hated her mom and her by extension but somehow Amelia loved him? In current day, years later (their parents are divorced and now Teo’s dad is dead) Amelia is a virgin and can’t seem to want sex with anyone so she disguises herself and seduces Teo to get him out of her system.
Blah blah, she finds out she’s pregnant and goes to tell him, he’s super cold and arrogant but says they will marry.
The story was too short for me to feel the change in their relationship. Amelia was so strong and not a doormat in the beginning but he whisks her to a cabin in the middle of nowhere and forces her to do chores and maid duties?? And then suddenly she loves him and agrees to sex and marriage? I felt like they were trying to force a Cinderella angle that didn’t really fit.
The rest of the pacing was off to me and I really didn’t understand why they were in love. ...more

This was a sweet monster romance!
Ranan is not a big talker and asks for a bride instead of a bribe from a passing ship. Valessa offers herself, hoping it’s a better deal than the slavery awaiting her.
I liked how Ranan works to make sure that Valessa wants him and his attentions instead of trying to please him after her past in slavery.
There’s definitely some darker aspects to this world and her past, but it’s never too in depth.
I liked how they learned each other’s strengths and weaknesses and how they built a life together.
It’s not very plot heavy, and I think some things could’ve been fleshed out more, but it was an enjoyable read! ...more

This was very cute. I actually love a quiet love story/characters so this was realistic and peaceful without being boring.
Shay was mute after a surgery gone wrong as a child. Maggie has a solitary life after a bad childhood, but finds herself lonely. They know each other from the bus and eventually strike up a friendship and relationship.
They fit together very well, and I thought they complimented each other. Shay was able to have Maggie open up, and Maggie gave Shay more confidence and brought some interests back into his life, like art.
I like how they did their best to communicate with each other and never let that deter them.
The thing that kept it a higher rating for me was the ex stuff. Shay’s ex was mentioned a little too much for my taste. Now this is totally a me thing. Shay wasn’t hung up on her, but she cheated on him and she does pop up once and also cause some trust issues/a few other problems. I just didn’t like that it caused insecurity for Maggie, who had never been in love, and Shay was in love in the past and just under a year ago.
Thankfully he says what he feels for Maggie is more. And he does take care of her in so many ways.
So overall, it was a very sweet read. Perhaps a little repetitive/in their heads at the beginning, but I got used to it and was happy they got a happy ending! ...more

This book is about Gem, who always gets the ick from guys. Her friend is writing a psychology paper and offers her money to be in a study for it - can she get over the ick/is it real intuition/is it hiding something else?
I thought this was a current and fun take on a romance book. I’ve definitely had the ick so it was funny to read - even if it did take me a minute to warm to Gem, I did get there! (Also I’ve heard some bad icks but hers were not relatable to me ...more

I wanted to love this way more than I did.
Emma is overworked at her parent’s bookstore, sad for not finding epic love, and feeling isolated from her family. She decides to take inspiration from Emily Dickinson and go on a long vacation to Amherst, where she’s going to find ways to be happy, bake, garden, write, and give up on love.
Even knowing Emily Dickinson was her inspiration, I felt like she was mentioned a little too much. Like she gets flowers and says oh Emily loved flowers. I think it could’ve been more subtle or nuanced at times. Also there’s a lot of speculation about ED being gay that I think could’ve been included even a little bit, even if just mentioning it was a rumor.
Honestly every conflict and resolution didn’t feel very satisfying to me for some reason. I think I just wasn’t connecting as much as I wanted.
The romance wasn’t my favorite either. I didn’t feel like I knew the hero that well and I really didn’t get the sense that they had any sort of deep love.
For some positives, I liked some of the side characters, the idea of letter writing, and a quaint setting!...more

It had a good blend of romance and emotion, and dealt with grief in a way that was not too heavy.
ղٳ’s sister dies, leaving her with grief, guilt and her son, Milo. Rhys was her sister’s landlord and unbeknownst to Tabby, a big part in Milo’s life, and is who her sister left custody of Milo to.
I thought Tabby and Rhys complimented each other and both were super cute with Milo. I was afraid that with Rhys technically having custody the story would be too angsty or too much enemies to lovers, but Rhys always has a soft spot for Tabitha and quickly realizes he can be what she needs.
She is a bit harsh to him for a while because she doesn’t know the whole story, but he’s understanding.
The wrestling part was something I’ve never read about in books, and was a unique aspect even though I don’t care that much about it in real life. ...more

The heroine’s husband cheats on her and leaves her. I was hoping for a little more angst but she’s nice to him for the sake of the kids. The angst came in the form of him regretting and trying to get her back later on.
Thankfully she never entertains this and has a brand new hero, who’s almost perfect.
I felt like there were a few too many things working against the story - the middle dragged, the heroine was a little too nice at times, the MCs felt a little too quirky or juvenile, and there were some noticeable editing issues.
I also like to find some positives too though, so I did like some of the characters, her son was super loyal, there’s a cute dog, and I did like that she found a happy and fulfilling life! ...more

Their parents are going to get married, fine. But **spoiler alert** I really liked Sig and Chloe together but couldn’t really get behind the conflict.
Their parents are going to get married, fine. But the MCs are in their 20s, don’t see their parents often after they meet, and they won’t really be related. Like yes it’s weird but would a professional hockey team and orchestra really care?? Especially if you just came out and said we met first and we’re in love?
Besides that being in my mind the whole time, this had a down bad hero that TB is known for and I can’t help but enjoy, a spoiled heroine who was more oblivious of the world than vapid, and some fun side characters!...more

This world was just pretty depressing overall. There’s misogyny and racism to the max, and super heavy themes throughout.
Sciona is the first female highmage in history, using magic to try and expand the barrier protecting their world from the “blight - a force that kills living things. Her assistant Thomil is a Kwen, a race that is considered lesser than and expendable - but he ends up opening her eyes to so many things.
Most of the story focuses on them and Sciona’s journey, and realizing she was self absorbed and ignorant of the world.
One thing I could’ve done without was the hint of romance which as a romance reader surprised me!! I thought Sciona and Thomil just had too much bad blood between them for it, and she says and thinks so many hurtful things toward him and his people that it wasn’t totally jiving with me even after she changed. But it’s really not a main focus at all and I could sort of see the reason.
Otherwise, it was a story about corruption and power and greed and human nature.
I was definitely sobbing at the end, so that will always get a lot of stars and have me remembering a book!...more

I also feel like there wasn’t a plot, or at least nothing I cared that much about? The “war is going to be continued in the next book which made me feel more like this story didn’t stand that well on its own.

Noah has custody of his dead friends child, and comes back to his hometown after being a firefighter on the move for so long. Victoria is paving a new way for herself in the town after her traumatic marriage where her husband cheated and also is now marrying her sister!
I liked •the community aspects and small town standing up for each other •their easy friendship and how they cared for the baby, Tess!
I didn’t love: •the pacing felt a bit off. They’re basically immediately friends and spending every night together with the baby but then the middle felt slow and uneventful, and then the end has action and felt a little rushed •nothing was delved into that deeply. I think we could’ve seen more emotions about Noah reconnecting with his family especially •the fake boyfriend thing - why did Victoria even associate with her family?! Why on earth would she go to the wedding of her ex husband and sister?!
