While this story can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend that you do yourself the favor of reading the whole series. It's amazing and life-changing. I've read many books since the first book, The Boy and His Ribbon but I still can't stop thinking about it. I think this series would make an epic movie, I can already see it in my mind. The author managed to pull every emotion from me. She made me feel so deeply, and it didn't stop at the last page. There are so many beautiful moments that I will treasure forever. This collection definitely deserves a place of honor on my bookshelf.
Jacob is beyond broken. He was born into a home filled with love. He felt it, he remembers it, he mourns it. He loved so hard that the loss he suffered caused him to close himself off, protecting himself from future loss. He saw the happiness love brings and the pain that follows. So, he's decided that's not a road he wants to travel. He'd rather sacrifice one to avoid the other. Sounds like a plan, right?
My heart broke for the boy he was then and the man he became later. I wanted to spank him and hug him at different times, but I loved him from beginning to end. I felt his pain and understood his disillusionment, but I yearned so hard for him to let himself feel again. I anxiously waited for the time that Hope would come into his life and shake it up.
Hope is my hero. She gave and gave and gave, offering support and friendship and love. Jacob was a jerk. And though she offered, I can honestly tell you that he didn't take and take and take from her. He tried to avoid her, but she wouldn't let him. He tried to hate her, and would never admit that he didn't. She pushed and he evaded. He pushed her away and she kept coming back. Until she didn't...
What would it take for him to risk his heart? That's something you will have to learn for yourself. It's a journey that will have you questioning your sanity and your sobriety. It's hard and soft, bitter and sweet, devastating and beautiful. It's...everything.

The dynamic duo strikes again with Dirty Secret. The collaboration between Chelle Bliss and Brenda Rothert is a win/win for their fans. It's like a BOGO sale! While Dirty Secret is a standalone, there are a few characters mentioned from Dirty Work. Kennedy and Reagan are sisters.
Being a techie myself, I was excited to dig in to the hacker aspect of the story. And of course the lust between two characters on opposite sides of the law is pretty much a guaranteed page turner. Not that contact between them was forbidden, cuz you know spies do what they must to accomplish their mission, right? I know it's a hard job. Or was that a hand job? Maybe it was both. Either way it's a job I wouldn't mind, at least that part. (wink-wink)
The secrets and suspense were intriguing as I waited for answers, while at the same time afraid of them. Of course I had my own ideas about how I wanted things to turn out and I was concerned that the authors had other plans. They kept me waiting, stringing me along, just the way I like it.

Zara Cox did it again. She swept me away, keeping me immersed in a world that I could only visit in her imagination. I discovered her work by accident, a book title that intrigued me to take a chance. A journey, once experienced, would keep me coming back, again and again. If she writes it...I'll read it.
The synopsis got my attention, but after reading the story I see that it was just a taste, the appetizer. The main course was unexpected and too delicious to describe. Not that I would do that. You need to experience that adventure for yourselves. Trust me, her Driving Him Wild is guaranteed to drive you wild too! But, just to be nice I'll give you one little treat. Here ya go, "Talk dirty Danish to me." Yeah, sexy, right? I can't understand it, but I felt it.

Finally. I've been waiting for Bryan's story. He has intrigued me from the beginning. So much attitude and Bryan is brutal...in all the best ways.
Finally. I've been waiting for Bryan's story. He has intrigued me from the beginning. So much attitude and so many secrets. I can't resist a broken bad boy, and he's the worst. And I can't resist a Eden Summers book either. I first fell in love with her rockers, and now she's slain me with her sexy alpha men of sin in her Vault series. But I confess, Bryan is my fave...sigh.
Pamela is a long time member of The Vault sex club. But she's just not finding what she needs there. There's only ever been one man that instinctively knew what she needed, and gave it to her. And that man is gone. Will she have to go the rest of her life feeling unfulfilled? As she's on the verge of giving up, as she's on her way out the door for the final time, he shows up and rocks her world. The arrogant bastard they call Brute. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see where that nickname came from. He thinks he's all that. It really irks her to find out that everything she's heard whispered about him is true. He does know what he's doing. He is all that. But she has no intention of letting him know she feels that way.
Bryan, along with his two partners, own The Vault. It's his domain. His place. That's where he works out his demons. It's his therapy. But never more than once with the same woman. That's his rule and they all know it. Not that they agree, or give up trying to change his mind. But he doesn't believe in relationships. He doesn't date. He doesn't cuddle. He doesn't do anything that he doesn't want to. He doesn't share details about himself, even with those closest to him. But he does care about his friends. He shows his affection through his rudeness and sarcasm. Their witty banter is pretty damn funny. That's enough for him. He's got all he needs. Or at least he thought so...
When a staff member asks for his help with a member that is dissatisfied, he reluctantly goes to see if he can help. He has no idea what he is in for. It only takes a few minutes to convince the member that he's capable of providing the service he promised. But it takes a lot longer than that for him to forget her. Oh wait, scratch that. He can't forget her.
After Bryan opens his mouth and inserts his foot in a very public way he finds himself in trouble with his partners and some of the female members. The last thing he wants to do is apologize. That's not his style. So he decides to make a deal. Promising what he's known for in exchange for her help. Will Pamela be able to refuse his request after having a taste of what he has to offer?
All I can tell you is that I had my fingers and toes crossed hoping that she wouldn't. Yes, I knew that there was a danger of my reading device bursting into flames if those two let their passion loose. But damn, I was willing to take the risk. You know I just took advantage of Amazon's Prime Day Sale so I have a backup Kindle Fire just waiting in case of emergencies. And let me tell you, Eden Summers did such an excellent job of writing Bryan's character that I could feel the rumble of his deep growly voice and the goose bumps from his one finger touch. If I smoked I'd be having a cigarette right now. I can't wait to see what the author has in store for her readers next. The line forms here...

Being a fan of MariaLisa's work, I've learned to expect the unexpected. But an expectation that she always lives up to is writing a good story, regardless of what subject matter she decides to tackle. She does not shy away from damaged characters or dark situations. I admit to being very intrigued when I read the synopsis for Alace Sweets.
Don't judge me for bonding with a vigilante serial killer, she's more than what she does. Being inside her head as she remembers the painful event that destroyed her teenage dreams had me so riled I was ready to join her. The evil she suffered through left her damaged and her attackers were never punished. She's basically decided that her life is over and her purpose is to help those that can still be saved. I was mentally giving her a high-five as she was tracking down the 'real serial killers' and doing what the law had failed to accomplish, making them pay for their crimes.
I got caught up in the details, excited by the technology and the planning involved in successfully tracking her target. I was nervous and paranoid on her behalf as I witnessed the events through her eyes as they evolved, immersed in the danger and fearful of the outcome. Would this story have a happy ending? That was another outcome I was fearful about when the synopsis promised an explosive ending, not an HEA. Not knowing kept me on the edge of my seat.
What? You think I'm actually going to tell you? Nope, you need to take a trip to the dark side and find out for yourself. No telling where the author will take us next, but wherever that is, I'm ready. The line forms here...

I was beyond excited about getting my hands on this new installment in The Devil's Share series. I fell hard for Lexi in the first book. I know, right? You expected me to mention the sexy rockstars and it's a girl I bring up. Sorry, but I have a BIG girl-crush on her. As you either already know, or will soon find out, "If Lexi ain't happy, ain't nobody happy" and "To Lexi the world was her recliner." She's sweet, funny, and badass when it's called for. She has those rockers wrapped around her little finger...and me too.
Even with pregnancy hormones raging, Lexi is still bubbly. Her vice is sweets. Just try and keep her away from the ice cream or cookies. Her doting boyfriend is Dash, the lead singer. He hired Dylan, a Physician's Assistant to go on tour with them to keep an eye on Lexi and their unborn baby. While she tries to keep an eye on Lexi's eating habits, she doesn't push too hard. She has much more fun pushing the boys in the band. They soon discover that she might be tiny in stature, but she has BIG lady-balls, and she knows a lot of BIG words. I'm not into medical terminology so much, but "nocturnal penile tumescence" was pretty damn funny.
Actually, there was a lot of funny in this book. Those rocker boys, Dagger, Lexi & Dylan entertained me non-stop. And it wasn't just their banter that entertained me, there was some serious HEAT happening too. My kindle almost burst into flames a time or two (wink-wink).
And then there was Smith...sigh. While I only read it, rather than having first hand knowledge, I was convinced and willing to wear a t-shirt declaring that SMITH JAMES IS A SEX GOD. That's not all he has going for him though. I have a weakness for deeply damaged men, and for rockstars...he is both. My heart broke for him and the painful past that tormented him. He thought he was hiding his darkness from Dylan, but she saw much more than he thought. Not only was she tuned into him, she recognized signs that she wished she didn't.
Dylan had no desire to travel that road again. She had barely survived it the first time. She felt drawn to him, but feared, "What happens if I fall in love with this man and he goes dark and never comes back?" And Smith, who was a self-proclaimed manwhore, was not relationship material anyway. So, there's nothing for her to worry over, she would just enjoy the tour, and then go back to her life when it was over. Hmm...good luck with that, right?

Yeah, me too! Jackie Ashenden writes the best alpha a-holes. I can't get enough. All it took was seeing her name on the cover for me to want to read this story, she knows how to push all my buttons, every time.
Ash is not only a billionaire, but he's also broken. It was his pain that pushed him to succeed. To prove himself to all those that hurt him. He's convinced that he doesn't need anyone, at least not for any longer than a night. He's used to people being intimidated by his size and his scars, but she's not. She's sweet and sassy he can't stop thinking about her.
She's determined to save her father's company and talking to Ash Evans is the only way to make that happen. Yes, her approach is unconventional, but so is she. She was raised by her father and brothers so opinionated men don't scare her. His bad temper and sharp tongue shouldn't turn her on, but they do. Everyone always says not to poke the bear, but she can't resist doing it every chance she gets.
This story was so entertaining. I kinda have a girl crush on her for how she handled Ash. Their banter was so much fun because she kept surprising him. He would purposely provoke her and she wouldn't do what he expected. I loved it!

Yeah, #CoverLust strikes again. This beauty caught my attention and I decided to give a new-to-me author a try and I'm so thrilled to be Tracy Goodwin's new #FanGirl. I loved this story and will commence #Stalking.
Christian, aka Chris to his friends, is a very well known #HockeyHunk. He has a reputation as a manwhore and is photographed with tons of beautiful women, many of them models. But how much of that media hype is true? The fact that he doesn't deny or confirm the gossip makes you wonder what he's been up to, right? But all he cares about is hockey and his team. His job is to take the New York Nighthawks all the way and he takes his team captain responsibilities very seriously.
Chris doesn't have time for relationships and he never knows if a woman is really interested in him, or his celebrity and bank account. But when he runs into her, literally, it's obvious she has no clue who he is. That makes her irresistible, though he didn't think fast enough to get her number. He can't stop thinking about her and kicking his own ass for not learning more about her when he had the chance.
Serena is badass. I developed a girl crush on her immediately and couldn't wait for their explosive chemistry to...explode. She's been man-free for a long time. She's not usually tempted by a pretty face, but "His winks are sexy as hell, and I wonder if it is a habit. One he doesn't even notice. If so, it's a shame, because a wink from him is like finding a rare unicorn." She doesn't plan to kiss him, but once she does, her hockey god repellent stops working and a one-night-stand is back on the table.
Let me tell you, Ice Hot is very #HOT! I got so caught up in the story that I was ready to throw my Kindle more than once and I had to wipe the screen a time or two too. It got steamy! I highly recommend this book and I can't wait to get my grabby hands on the next installment in the series. The line forms here...

"Here we go—I'm gonna kiss you so hard your panties will all but fall off of their own accord."
I loved everything about this story, it was my idea"Here we go—I'm gonna kiss you so hard your panties will all but fall off of their own accord."
I loved everything about this story, it was my idea of a modern adult fairytale. At least in my mind, I never got to see what went on behind closed doors with Cinderella and Prince Charming, and I bet The Beast was all kinds of alpha with Belle, right? Who knows, but it's fun to imagine. In Married in Michigan the author doesn't hide the good stuff, she gives her readers the full experience.
She's a hotel maid expected to clean up after what looks like a bomb explosion. She's seen bad before, but this is even worse. No words. I had to pick my jaw up off the floor and I was just reading, not cleaning it up. Lordy, she definitely didn't get paid enough for the work she did. True, I guess getting a glimpse of the goods was a bonus, and it was a very big one, but still not enough as far as I'm concerned.
Their first meeting was memorable, that's for sure. And don't get me started on his mother, her boss. She's a piece of work and another reason I wouldn't want that job. At least I didn't think so at the beginning. Though I have to confess, he did win me over later. He's actually more than just Party Paxton once you look behind the hangover. I was totally encouraging her to take him up on his unexpected offer of marriage...just imagine the perks. And let me tell you, I'm not just talking about the billions.

"I knocked on the door twice, signaling I was about to enter and turned the knob. Let the wicked games begin."
I was very intrigued by the synopsis"I knocked on the door twice, signaling I was about to enter and turned the knob. Let the wicked games begin."
I was very intrigued by the synopsis of this story. Sexy football player, kinky secrets, and mystery lovers sounded too delicious to pass up, so I didn't.
The author tells the story in dual POV so it's fun to know what each of the characters is thinking, but not sharing with each other. But it will make you want to whisper secrets in their ear to move things along quicker. I'm not talking about their sexy times, that part was good from the get-go. It's their hidden identities that I was anxious to be revealed. The anticipation was exciting as I imagined how it would eventually play out.
Another thing that kept me on edge was the possibility of Gage's greatest fear actually happening. His privacy means everything to him and the media finding out about his sexual proclivities would be scandalous. Not that it would hurt his career, we all know that single athletes are always in the news. But what would it do to his straight-laced family to learn his secret in such a public way? Better not to ever find out, right? That's why he takes such extreme measures to protect himself.
What I wasn't expecting was to find myself so emotionally invested in the events surrounding the opening of the new wing at the children's hospital. My heartstrings were pulled tight. I know this story is the third in the Rough Riders series, but I read it as a standalone. I had no problem keeping up, but I did meet some amazing support characters that made me interested in reading the previous installments.

Confession, this was my first Ginger Scott read. IKR? Where have I been? I've said many times that I have a weakness for broken characters, and she gave me two. They both have painful pasts that haunt them and it's understandable that they have trust issues. But for some reason, they are drawn to each other like a magnet to metal. The question is, will they allow their chemistry to develop into something more, or will they let their fears keep them prisoner?
Olivia has been dealt a bad hand in life. She's stopped believing that the next card will change her luck. It's been one bad experience after another and it's best to not even get her hopes up anymore. But she's not blind. She can't help but admire his form. His muscles. His skill. His...everything."All he has to do is say one word, any word, and I will forget the rules I made when I was a little girl about kissing boxers."
Memphis is living on his dream to become a champion. He lives a simple life, not requiring much. Just a place to train and another to lay his head at night. He's following in the footsteps of a ghost, learning his way as he goes, trusting his gut. He doesn't need any distractions, but he can't unsee her, unfeel her. His body knows when she's watching him. She has the power to derail all his plans for the future. He needs to keep his eye on the prize. But which prize?
All I can tell you is that this #Alpha had me from the beginning. He won me over without the need for a #KnockOut, I just fell at his feet. Memphis & Liv are amazing characters, but there are some support characters that leave a lasting impression too. A few had me searching eBay for some voodoo dolls and another had me ready to pitch a tent and camp out with him. I loved this story hard and I'll most definitely be keeping my eye out for whatever this talented author comes out with next. The line forms here...

I was so int"—a boy I find dizzyingly perfect despite all of his crazy. He doesn't pretend to be something he isn't. He's a genius, he's a wreck"
I was so intrigued, dying to read this story. I'm very drawn to music-themed stories and especially to the author's talent with touching on touchy subjects in a beautiful way. Drummer Girl was all that and more.
Arizona is not the most outgoing, but for some reason, Jesse brought out her sass. She found herself pushing her comfort levels and standing up to him, speaking with truth and conviction. How could he not notice her? She's used to standing in the shadow of her beautiful best friend, letting her do the talking. But, he sees her...
Jesse is a troubled teen with more talent than he knows what to do with. His music is how he copes with his overactive mind. It helps him channel his thoughts and feelings...most of the time. Though sometimes the anger gets the best of him. He's trying to put together a garage band when his new neighbor shows up and catches his attention. She feels his music and understands more than he's comfortable with. She sees him...
I can't express to you how much I love this story. These characters touched my heart so deeply with their pain and promise. They have so much talent and I yearned for them to get past the problems holding them back and to get a break, a chance to fulfill their dreams. Mostly, I wanted them to heal each other and provide the kind of support that only another person in their situation would understand.
I might have also committed a mental felony or two during the reading of this tale. It's a good thing my Kindle is wearing a pretty red rubber case to protect it from my wrath. I must also give a shout out to the awesome support characters. I don't know if this story will lead into a series or not, but I sure hope it does. The line forms here...

Hollywood Scandal was my introduction to author Louise Bay. I was intrigued by the synopsis and decided to give her "Worth getting rained on for."
Hollywood Scandal was my introduction to author Louise Bay. I was intrigued by the synopsis and decided to give her a try. I couldn't resist a Hollywood movie star and the girl next door.
There were lots of things I enjoyed about this story. The locations. The colorful support characters. The chemistry between the main characters. The witty banter. The chosen professions of the main characters and the details about those career choices.
Matt is a well known actor with his career on the rise after a recent embarrassing fall. He's determined to do everything he can to prove he has his priorities straight and he's ready to work. He has to be very careful about his image and who he's seen with. The media has a way of knowing everything he does. His agent and his publicist want him to be photographed with starlets and models, women who can advance his career and keep him in the public eye. But the woman who has his attention is the girl next door. Yeah, the one that prefers to stay in her remote little town away from the public eye. The one that is sexy as sin and keeps him thinking about her all the time. The one that did not recognize him and has no idea he's a movie star.
Lana used to dream about moving away from her home town where everyone knows all her business. She had big ideas about a career in New York. But something happened while she was attending college there. Something that changed her mind and sent her running back home. Something that made her content to stay single and happy with her nosy neighbors. While she still dabbles in her career of choice, she's downsized her dreams, settled for a less public version.
When the latest renter next door turns out to be the sexiest man she's ever seen, Lana reconsiders her life of loneliness. She knows he's only there temporarily, for a job. Why not scratch the itch? He makes her feel beautiful the way he looks at her. Should she give the gorgeous stranger what he wants? What she wants?
Imagine her surprise when she discovers that Matt lives in a fish bowl. The last place she ever wants to visit. Too bad she's already addicted to his touch. Is it possible for her to have her cake and eat it too? Or will she have to choose between her privacy and him? Is he, "Worth getting rained on for?" Will he be able to convince her to step outside of her comfort zone and risk her secrets? Will her past mistakes find their way into her future? Will she risk becoming a Hollywood Scandal?

I was both excited and reluctant to read Badd Medicine because I knew it was the last Badd story and I wasn't ready for it to be over. I've really enjoyed getting to know all the amazing characters that make up the Badd family and I'll miss their entertaining banter.
Ramsey is the last lone Badd boy. All the others have found their forever love and are either married, engaged or committed. And let's not forget about the Badd babies. Don't get me wrong, Ram's not jealous, he's happy for his brothers and cousins. He's just trying to do his time, helping his brother with his saloon until he's able to break free. He's not cut out for being indoors all day and he's going crazy being stuck in the kitchen washing the damn dishes.
She's a live wire and he really enjoys pushing her buttons. He knows exactly what will set her off and can't resist doing whatever it takes to get a rise out of her. She's hot all the time, but especially when she's pissed. She's been avoiding him, fighting the attraction they've felt since the beginning. She can deny it all she wants, but he knows she feels it too. She keeps hiding, but he sees her. "—I knew enough to know you have walls a million feet high and a million feet thick. I don't need to know the details of the story to see those walls, babe. I got my own walls, my own scar tissue deep inside, and like recognizes like, you know?
Can two damaged souls find solace in each other? Will she let fear keep her from reaching for what she wants? How long can she bury her feelings and her dreams before she becomes bitter? Why are all the Badd's smirking and laughing at her like they know a secret at her expense? At least the women agree with her that the men are Infuriating, confusing, and arousing. Mostly infuriating, though." What are they seeing that she's missing? And what's so damn funny about her being angry at Ram?
The author did a beautiful job of winding up all the loose ends and giving her readers a perfect view into the lives of all the Badd family. She made me feel like I was right there, enjoying the chaos, laughter, and love. I turned the final page with a smile on my face.

Christine Feehan is a word wizard, and no matter what genre or trope she tackles, she leaves me spellbound. Red on the River is in the same world as MChristine Feehan is a word wizard, and no matter what genre or trope she tackles, she leaves me spellbound. Red on the River is in the same world as Murder at Sunrise Lake. Both are standalones, and it took me a minute but I finally started recognizing characters I'd read before.
As the author's female characters tend to be, Vienna is a badass. Not only is she a gambler that rarely loses, but she's also a trauma nurse and heads up a search and rescue team. You can't get much more badass than that, right?
She and Zale crossed paths in the past and their connection was instant and unforgettable. Much to Vienna's dismay because he walked away from her and she can't forget the time they spent together. Imagine her surprise when he shows up at the hotel where she's competing in a high-profile poker competition.
In case you were wondering, the sparks are still flying between them. But the trust is missing. If he can walk away once what's to keep him from leaving again. Is she willing to give him another chance? Can she resist? Especially when he calls her Snowflake? Um...I know I couldn't.
Oh wait, I almost forgot the most important part. S-U-S-P-E-N-S-E. Yeah, buckle your harness and get ready for a ride. There's a touch of paranormal because nobody can write special gifts as this author can. I'm so curious and amazed by them, can't get enough. When her characters get a "feeling," so do I. She has me looking over my shoulder as I'm reading in bed to make sure I'm alone. It's like mental movie music that lets you know something is coming like when you're watching Jaws and hear the creeping dread sound.
So, to sum it up, there's romance and suspense, and to break up the tension there's girl time and hilarious banter to keep you laughing between sighing and gasping. And there are so many amazing characters that there's no doubt in my mind there will be more stories from Sunrise Lake. The line forms here......more

What a treat this was. I really enjoy a juicy novella to clear my palate between books. Memories of You was extra delicious because I got to dust off my armchair detective skills and try to figure out whodunit.
Renly is a blast from her past that she never forgot. Except now he's out of the military and all grown up in the best of ways. He's working for Stark Security. Small world, right? And that connection she felt with him way back then, it's still there.
Abby is beautiful. Even more so than he remembered. When he learns that it's his childhood friend that needs protecting, it's not a job to him, it's a necessity. The problem is that he wants to keep more than his eyes on her. He wants to touch every part of her with every part of him.
If you are already a Stark fan, you are gonna love this. If you haven't tried it yet, this taste will convince you that you need more. As I've said many times, there's no such thing as enough Stark. As long as the author writes them I'll keep coming back for more. The line forms here. ...more

This series, The Godwicks is different from any of the others I've read. It's got a bit of magic and suspense that makes it even more intriguing. The history and art and scandalous behavior are very entertaining and the passionate payment of a debt had me reconsidering my opinion of long-term debt. In this particular case, the longer the better.
