First time reading anything by this author. Style of writing sometimes gave me whiplash with how abruptly a scene would end and pick up somewhere else. I will say Genie was pretty clueless, which was a bit annoying---like how many signals does a guy have to give for you to get the message? She's gorgeous, so she gets hit on all the time. She really can't be surprised he'd be into her. But I loved how sweet Hudson was. Gotta love a guy who knows what he wants. Will have to check out more. Hopefully this author isn't too formulaic....more
It kept me interested, and I definitely plan to read the last in the trilogy because now I REALLY need to know how it ends. My biggest gripe is that aIt kept me interested, and I definitely plan to read the last in the trilogy because now I REALLY need to know how it ends. My biggest gripe is that all the secrecy between all the characters is too much, and most of the time makes no damn sense. Like a 5 minute conversation could have cleared up so much, and why that doesn't happen isn't really explained. Crossing my fingers, we don't have to wait too long for the final book. And I don't know if it's just me, but I'm really struggling with trying to understand all the lore about the moon, sun, and night---and the wolves too. Maybe that's why I tend to stay away from fantasy in general ...more

Does give subtle--very subtle--Outlander vibes like others have mentioned. Mostly because Callum gives some serious Jamie vibes. I liked that the princess wasn't a Disney character where she's perfect and everyone adores her. My two small gripes would be 1: sometimes the writing is a little too modern for something set in what seems like medieval times or close to that, it would take me out when a character said "like", like we do and the mention of "underwear" and "makeup" was a bit surprising and 2: I wish the author spent a little more time building out this world. I'm still not sure if it's based on an alternate universe of our current world, or if we're dealing with a game of thrones type situation. I think this book could easily have been an extra 100-200 pages and would have felt epic....more

Started off really good, but around the last 1/2 of the book, I started to lose interest. There's a lot of sex scenes--i mean they're 19 yr old guys--so that's a given, but most of their conversations are just talking dirty to each other. And while hot, the whole falling in love part didn't fit perfectly for me. There are a few sweet moments outside of bed, but not many.
There were a few other things that didn't click for me either. Some things seemed out of character. Things like it didn't make sense to me why Avi's friends would think he should be Baldwin. He seemed to be a bit of an introvert, so why would they think he'd be great as the school mascot---considering he wouldn't even get paid. May seem like a small thing to most readers, but it bugged me that he was the mascot because it just made no damn sense.
And when is a 19 year old able to rent a Benz? Is that like a rich people thing because I thought you have to be 21 at least to rent a car. And I struggled to see how Kyron was going to escape the Onlyfans fiasco through his whole career because anything on the internet is there forever. And seriously, how do you blur someone's face when they're giving a bj??? Just curious ...more

My mistake because it's really not. It kept my interest throughout even so, which was good! I felt like I was watching a train wreck happen in slow motion. There was a constant feeling of pending doom. I liked that this was gritty, but I didn't love Mina. She was a bit of a Disney princess type character---the type that everyone loves because she's just the sweetest, most beautiful girl in all the land. But a twisted land because in this one, two teenage boys become obsessed with a little girl, which is just fucking weird. And we only get her POV, so very little of the MC drama is explained which I don't think helped the story. So as I said, it kept me reading because I wanted to see the crash, but Mina's POV sometimes dragged and I wish there was more meat to the story---meaning i wish it was more than 'my life with a psycho boyfriend'....more
