Livvy, aged 12, is asked to be a companion/friend to Sally—the granddaughter of wealthy Mrs. Hunt in the village. Mrs. Hunt owns a vast estate and, because no one ever gets a glimpse of the old lady, they are very curious about her. When her son, a famous actor, visits his mother's home a few months before her 100th birthday, things begin to happen. Livvy and Sally become close friends and end up enlisting Livvy's brother and sister to help solve the mystery of the cat figurine that's missing a fiddle.
There's family drama, smuggling, lost children, faked identities, theft and uneasiness throughout most of the book. Cat with No Fiddle starts off cozy and interesting, becomes more and more tense (but also strangely more vague) during the middle of the book, and ends in a satisfactory way for both families.
I was really interested at the beginning, slightly confused and bored during most of the middle and then became intrigued again at the end of this vintage middle grade book. I'm not sure I would read it again, but it did interest me on and off. Plus, the dust jacket is adorable.
This is my least favorite of the six Collins Seagull Library/The Children's Press editions so far, but it was still entertaining and I'm glad I own it. ...more

There's no other way to describe this breathtaking coffee table book. As soon as it came in the mail, I sat in my favorite cozy chair and just absorbed it all. It's primarily full page spreads of photographs, but there's also sections where friends, family or people that Audrey Hepburn worked with during her life would share memories or information.
I loved pouring over every page and photograph, especially the candid photos or ones I'd never seen before. So fascinating!! The more I learn about this beautiful woman, the more impressed I am by her inner beauty, generosity of spirit and the love she had for the world (and everyone in it).
I love, love this collection of photography SO much!!! Highly, highly recommended! ...more

It's now one of my all-time favorite books about this amazing lady! Highly recommended!...more
