I read this book because me and my friend went to an book event today & it was all about the author of this book (Jen Campbell) & Jen also signed this book. Haha she is just a wonderful human being & the event was very fun. We meet some cool people and it was my friends very first book event. On our way home we read this book together (reading on trains is always fun) and it was such a fun adventure.
The story was sooo cute and I really felt bad for Franklin. Luna was a fierce character and her outfit was sooo pretty and I can't wait to see more of them (yes you read it right there will be a sequel to this book & if things go to plan it will be released September 2018). I also really loved that this book was related to books and bookshop. As a fellow booknerd this is always cool to see.
The illustrations are sooooo gorgeous & you can totally see that both the author and the illustrated worked together pretty well. Also I got some cool Franklin swag for free. And the pictures made this story sooo much better and really gave something extra to the story. The story is also very understandable & i loved the little rhymes. Even my father read this book and he understood everything and thought it was a cute story (we're Dutch and he doesn't read in English).
So I would highly recommend this childrens book because it's a very cute story and it's not that difficult to understand for young children & it has such pretty illustrations in it. It's also fun for Adults to read too but you gotta keep in mind that it's a picture book. So that's why I gave it a four out of five stars. Cute story, amazing cover, beautiful illustrations and a lovely author. This is also a book you will flip through countless times because the story never gets old. Highly recommend this childrens book. ...more
4 stars because this wasn't my favorite in the series (the mime order currently holds that position) and in the beginning this one was a bit slow. Oh 4 stars because this wasn't my favorite in the series (the mime order currently holds that position) and in the beginning this one was a bit slow. Oh and I never knew like in which direction the story would go and most of this book was a surprise for me (thankfully i never guessed like mayor plottwist which I recently have been guessing in a lot of books/stories so BONUS POINTS TO SAMANTHA) AND I CAN'T EVEN WRITE A PROPER REVIEW CAUSE I AM DYING WITH FEELINGS. THIS WILL DEF BE ONE OF MY FAVORITES OF 2017 AND I AM SURE THIS SERIE IS GOING TO BECOME ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVES. OH AND I WANTED NICK TO BE AT PAIGE SIDE NOT WARDEN (I like warden thou BUT I LOVEEE LOVEEE LOVE NICK A LOT SO HE BETTER BE A LOT IN THE 4TH NOVEL OR OTHERWISE I WILL BE DYING. AND I WANT MY BABY NICK TO BE HAPPY. LOL MARIA WAS PRETTY COOL AND PYROMANTICISH TOO AND I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HER AGAIN.) OH AND WE ARE ABSOLUTELY GOING TO SEE MORE OF JAXON HALL AND IS HE GOING TO REDEEM HIMSELF? I HAVE A FEELING THAT HE WILL DO SOMETHING TO HELP PAIGE. AND LOL THE SCOTLAND PART WAS FUNNY. AND I WANT THE 4TH BOOK NOW.

3.5 stars ☆☆.5 This is probably my least favorite out of the three. I did like this one a lot and I finished in less than two days but I did felt that something was missing. So lets start with the things I did really like.
Pro's aka things I loved 1. Peter K. Like we got more Peter and I simply loved this book for that. In the beginning of the first one I wasn't sure if I loved him by the end of to all the boys I loved before I did really like peter. And then ps I still love you came and I fell head over heels for this fictional character. So I loved that we got some more Peter and for that alone I liked this book.
2. WE GOT TO SEE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LARA JEAN'S DAD AND THEIR NEIGHBOUR (TRINA). I was sooo sad this wasn't in ps i still love you and I was sooo happy they did end up together and I loved every second of it.
3. THE HAMILTON REFERENCES IN THE BOOK I AM CURRENTLY READING (I squealed when i read the it must be nice it must be nice line).
4. Lara Jean's character development. YAS I WAS SO HAPPY ABOUT THIS. In my opinion she became soo much more mature (tbh she was still a baby at times and I was still at times mildy annoyed by mommy and daddy but she wasn't as childish she used to be). I felt she really has grown up and I did really like this
5. One word kitty.
But now the things I didn't like aka the No's or the dont's aka the WHYS? 1. now will start some angry random thoughts That moment i probably don't remember something right because i was pretty sure it did happen😂 and with it I truly mean it. That they did it aka Lara Jean and Peter slept with each other. Like my reading memory had never done this. So far it gas never failed me so i am going to check if I remembered it right. That moment that I totally FOUND A PLOT HOLE AKA MISTAKE!! I SERIOUSLY FOUND A PLOT HOLE😂 If you are confused why I think this I will insert this quote: "And then I'm in his arms, and we're hugging and kissing, and we're both shaking, because we both know-this is the night we become real." Doesn't this sound like they had sex? Okay if you read more than that sentence there is the ability to think they didn't do it but I am still convinced they did. And they seriously never referenced to that night because if they didn't do it that night they sure became more serious boyfriend and girlfriend. And I am still like 99,99% convinced they did it at the end of ps i still love you and that jenny han just simply forgot about this. I know what a big deal but I get easily annoyed by these little things. For example the insurgent film. WHY THE HELL WASN'T TRIS WEARING A BRA AND WHY WAS SHE SHOWING SOOO MUCH BOOB. THAT DID NOT FIT WITH HER PERSONALITY IN THE INSURGENT BOOK . So yeah this one of my mayor issue with this book but there's more.
2. Margot. God how much did I hate her. I wasn't really a big fan of her in the other two books but I tolerated her and thought she was ok. But seriously after this one I kinda hate her and i was soo annoyed by her. Like gogo couldm't you just stay in scotland?
3. GUESS WHO GUESSED A PLOTTWIST (OR SOMETHING THAT WAS BOUND TO HAPPEN)? ME!! AND I GUESSED IT LIKE AFTER 10 PAGES OR SO😂 haha okay 10 pages isn't probably the right amount but at the very beginning I was like Lara Jean isn't getting into her dream college and she is going to that one that is out of her state (UNC i believe) and this will result in some trouble in paradise. And oh boy I was right. This isn't in particular jenny's fault. I have been guessing plottwist right for quite some time now yes i guessed who was the baddy in lady midnight
4. I felt that the ending was a bit rushed and I would have loved to read a bit more discriptive wedding. I also felt that something was going to happen but then I already had read the final page. All though i did really like how it ended. For some reason jenny han is really good at writing the end sentences cause I clearly loved this one too but the emding felt to me a bit too soon and rushed.
and for these reasons I gave Always and forever, lara jean 3.5 stars. It wasn't bad but I expected a bit more. And i was a little annoyed aith my plot hole (I can see why people would disagree with me but i still feel this way). And i was a bit dissapointed by the ending. But then i loved some aspects aaaaa lot. So i would def rec this book because it was fun and cute to read. And who can say no to more peter (at least I can't) ...more

Overall rating: ⛤⛤⛤⛤ (4/5 stars).
Beautiful illustrations❤❤ I loved all of them so much. I tried to pick a favorite but in the end I couldn't. All of them are soo pretty. I also loved how the illustrations on the side got bigger and bigger & at the end it was a full page (well two page filled) picture.
I really liked the stories. They gave me such a fairy tale vibe and I loved the little lessons in them. Leigh's writing is amazing as usual. Her writing was sooo good in this one. So good.
So now I will talk about each story in some depth without spoiling stuff:
 Ayama and the thorn wood. ~ Rating: ⛤⛤⛤⛤ (4/5 stars). I loved how this one was written and I really liked Ayama's character. Also I liked the stories Ayama told and how she gave them their own twist. The ending wasn't that surprising but I still really really liked it. It had some elements of other stories and gave me a bit of a greek retelling vibe but she mixed these things up so well that it became her own unique fairy tale. So far is this story my favorite. and then the last story became my fave
 The too-clever fox. ~ Rating: ⛤⛤ (3/5 stars). Our main character the too-clever fox was really cool and the best thing about this story. I really loved his character because he was very smart and witty. Unfortunately I predicted the villain very early on, so that made me like the story a bit less. But the athmosphere was amazing and very magical and everything came truly alive in this book. And I didn't predict that ending.
 The witch of Duva. ~ Rating: ⛤⛤⛤⛤ (4/5 stars). THAT TITLE THOUGH. Yupp I clearly love that title soo much. And that illustration that goes with this story is soo beautiful. Our main character was all right (didn't love her as much as the other ones). But damn I didn't expect that villain. I was pleasantly surprised by that twist. The witch was a very interesting character too and I wish we got some information about her. The whole setting of this story was magical and interesting. And the last two lines were beautiful.
 Little knife. ~ Rating: ⛤⛤⛤⛤ (4/5). That ending made it a four star rating instead of a three star rating. My actual reaction was: WHAT THE FUCK. I totally didn't see that coming and to be honest it's very funny😂😂 (view spoiler)[ The most beautiful girl ever fell in love with water 😂😂 She is in love with water, lol. It's actually a water spirit but still in love with water. #deadfromlaughter (hide spoiler)] I also liked that we got to see a grisha in one of these fairy tales. It was a fun story and the ending was hilarious😂😂
 The soldier prince. ~ Rating: ⛤⛤ (3/5 stars). This is probably the most confusing story in this book. It was a very weird story. Also I feel like this one doesn't have a happy ending like the rest. The ending was unexpected and a bit darker than the rest. I also feel that some things weren't answered. I still had some questions at the end. All though the story was very interesting it was also very confusing. Not sure how I feel about this one so far. The ending did leave me a tiny bit shocked.
 When water sang fire. ~ Rating: ⛤⛤⛤⛤ (5/5 stars). My favorite story out all of them. It's also the longest, most developed one. Loved all of the characters, there was a plottwist I absolutely didn't expect & the ending was everything. Also my one and only bae was in this one So read further if you don't mind spoilers. (view spoiler)[DAAAAAAAAAARKLING. MY BAE PRECIOUS EVERYTHING!! YAAAAAAAAAAAY!! and then I made weird noises of happiness. I WAITED FOR THIS MOMENT THE WHOLE TIME I WAS READING THIS BOOK. Of course I knew he was in this story but I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't read this story before I read the others. My dreams have come true. & A BIG PLOTTWIST!! TOTALLY DIDN'T EXPECT THE DARKLING AND ULLA BE RELATED. LIKE BAGHRA WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU 😂😂 Couldn't believe my eyes when i read that. The darkling has a halfsister😂😂 And he actually sort of cared about her. Lollll that whole family is sooo fucked up. Also ulla was amazing character and I loved how she became the villain. Like yass girl and besides it was totally justified. Never liked that asshole Roffe but I was soooo afraid that Signy was going to die. Well that backstabbing bitch should have died but did she NOOOOOO. Like the worst fake friend ever. Weakling. Let's move on from that back stabbing bitch, she isn't worth it. Not gonna waste time on her anymore because that bitch totally doesn't deserve it. The world building was AAAAAAAMAZING duh. Nothing was rushed, things were explained very well and it was sooo interesting. It felt i was reading a whole book instead of a long short story. I also like that we sort of found out why Fjerda is such an iceland. Basically because of my badass Ulla. And tbh this story would have gotten 5 stars just because the darkling was in it. But the rest definitely deserves a five star too. I can see myself rereading this story over and over. still a bit weirded out by the fact that the darkling has a mermaidish sister OMG WE FINALLY GOT A GOOD MERMAID STORY😱 (hide spoiler)] This story is just soooo good!!
If you're fan of the grisha world (or Leigh Bardugo) you really need to pick this book up. I never felt like that the stories were too short and normally I end up feeling like that when I read short stories. It's also very entertaining, magical and the imagination in these stories are amazing. Definitely will reread this book. And to you grisha fan or leigh fan PICK THIS BOOK UP. IT HAS AMAZING ORIGINAL FAIRY TALES AND BEAUTIFUL ILLUSTRATIONS. Sara is soo talented!
I JUST REALISED I HAVE READ ALL OF LEIGH BARDUGO'S BOOKS THIS YEAR. ALL OF THEM😱...more
I'm not gonna shy away from this but I absolutely disliked this book. It's totally not for me Review will have some spoilers!!
Rating: 🌟 (1/5 stars).
I'm not gonna shy away from this but I absolutely disliked this book. It's totally not for me and I don't think I will be reading anything again by Maggie Stiefvater (except from the Ronan centered trilogy, I'm done with her). There were simply tooo many things I didn't like and I was confused and bored out of my mind. I started physically reading this book, but after one chapter I lost all of my motivations to read this book. I asked this book for my birthday (which is on Halloween) and it has been on my shelf ever since. I basically wanted to read this book because it's set in the 60's. I LOVEEEEEE THE 60's!! And the cover is really pretty (I hate orange but this orange isn't bothering me), it sounded interesting and it has like mexican culture in it (which I love toooo). So I was like I'm going to listen to this book otherwise it never will happen. I started the audiobook and the narrator wasn't for me but I continued and the struggle began. I have never ever DNF'ed a book but I was soo tempted to do this. So I'm going to show my reactions to this book while I was listening to it (because if I say so they are pretty funny) and they basically describe all of my feelings towards this book. And at the end I will try to make a summary of this books and that will be hilarious too.
** M Y ** R E A C T I O N S ** - "The narrator of this book is terrible😂😂😂😂 I'm sorry but I really don't like it, cause IT'S TERRIBLE! I'm gonna continue because it took me way to fucking long to get it (to get the audiobook) a nd otherwise I'm not gonna read it. It has been on my shelf since my birthday, which is like foreverrr."
- "I AM SOOO CONFUSED BY THIS BOOK😂 And it's boring me."
- "OMG LOL DYING!! IT'S HILARIOUS what is hilarious you're asking now? IT'S HILARIOUS HOW HE, THE NARRATOR, DOES A FEMALE VOICE 😂😂😂😂 #dead. It's really funny. In all honesty I'm cracking up about this. This is my new favorite thing."
- "ONLY 5 HOURS TOOOO GO, YAY. Lol Iam truly getting bored and fed up with the book and I have no clue what is going on xD I'm not even sure how to describe the characters."
- Someone in le book: "I could literally die of boredom right now." My reaction: "OMG THAT'S MEEEE RIGHT NOW!!!"
- "Marisita’s voice (the hilarious female voice) is still FUNNY AS HELL and why are we talking about horses again? #confused."
- "Somebody is sooo beautiful that other people stopped her in the street so they could thank her. LIKE WHUTTTT? I AM EVEN MORE CONFUSED AND WEIRDED OUT THAN I ALREADY AM. AND IT'S SO BORING xD"
- "The narrator is all right now. I'm kind of used to it now but he's not the greatest. I definitely prefere some other narrators, all though this one has a mexican accent which fits the book. All the crooked saints is I believe the fourth audiobook I've listened to and I realised that I am absolutely not a audiobook person. Also this book really reminds me of Aristoteles and Dante discover the secrets of the universe. To me it's basically aristotles and dante again AND I DISLIKED THAT BOOK TOO. And there is like a pattern because I also listened to aristotles and dante."
- "Oh and that I really dislike the writing style. Maggie's writing style is really repetitive in this book. Normally I love her writing but damn don't know what happend but it's not good in this book. And I still have like 3 hours and 55 minutes left."
- "I didn't even know I could be more confused than I already was. And like I fell asleep while listening to this book and I'm not gonna rewind the audiobook, because 1. I don't want to. And 2. because my confusion probably won't go away too, so why should I torture myself like that? So nope not gonna do that. AND I AM STILL CONFUSED, NO CLUE WHAT THIS PLOT EVEN IS!"
- "HE LET A BREATH OUT HE DIDN'T REALISE HE WAS HOLDING. THAT LINE WAS IN LE BOOK. I LITERALLY SCREAMED IN FRUSTRATION. IT'S ONE OF MY MOST HATED TROPES AND LINES EVER. IT'S 2018/2017 PEOPLE AREN'T WE TIRED OF THAT SHIT."
- "And once again I'm I legit wouldn't be able to describe this book. Lol I'm gonna try to describe this book. Hahahaha this is gonna be funny."
So we've come to an end on my reactions, but now I'm going to try to summarise this book. I'm sorry if you are very confused by that summary because that was pretty much how I felt while listening to this audiobook.
** M Y ** S U M M A R Y ** The story takes place in 1962 in colorado. it's like about a family and some of those family members can perform like miracles. There are like 3 cousins. one is called Daniel and like the holy saint of their town. He is the oldest. Then there is Beatrice and she has like the emotional range of a teaspoon. and then you have another cousin who'se name I don't know but he is like obsessed with radio's and being a DJ and his DJ alter ego is Diablo Diablo. Their radio station is like an old family car that can't drive anymore. Then Daniel dissapears because he has like shadows/darkness in him because he did something (don't really know what happened there), he did or wanted something for himself WHICH YOU CANT DO IN THAT FAMILY APPARENTLY. So that daniel guy went away, but apparently he had a secret girlfriend or so and the narrator does an amazing funny voice for her and she is called Marisita (terrible name). I believe she's a pilgrim and they interview her about Daniel on le radio so that he would come back apparently. No clue why. There is also like sort of a random character called Pete. Why he is there? I have no idea. Probably just a plotpoint for Beatrice because we 'need' an arc where she developes feelings or so. Back to be Pete and he wasn't looking for like a miracle but wanted a job or something and his aunt sent hem there. IDK. Back to the other cousins because they are sort of looking for daniel but also not because it's dangerous and like that darkness could infect them too. ??????? Like whut? I am confused right here. I don't even know if. they are looking for him. Oh okay they are actually looking for him. Yes I have no clue and like there are randomly pages dedicated to horses or so and the word pilgrim is thrown in there quite a lot and thats getting really annoying. Sooo repetitive. And apparently they are on some trip or so and it involves horses. Okay then they gave up on Daniel, some years have passed I think and BAM out of nowhere there was a plot where Marisita was going to marry someone else, she run away and out of nowhere Daniel popped up. Then they discussed somethig or whatever (I don't even care anymore at this point) and Beatrice is like OMG I know how to save Danny!! So she hops on a horse and finds him. Marisita is there, who knows why? And then there is like an owl who isn't an owl but the darkness and he has stolen Daniel's sight, eyes, mouth and breath. Than Beatrice some how saved him but lost her eye sight etc. Then out of nowhere there was Pete. Pete was apparently blown there by the wind and he was gonna leave town after a fight he had with Beatrice but now he's back. And Beatrice's and Pete's love saved Beatrice, I guess. No clue what happened. So in the end everything was okay and I realised I absolutely disliked this book. A day wasted but at least I read this book during Zoë's 24 hour read-a-thon, which I slayed.
So this is the end of my sort of review. I didn't like this book, don't recommend it and probably will never read it again. I'm absolutely happy if someone did enjoy this book, it's not for me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thoughts before reading the books: Woaw didn't know this one is coming out this year haha didn't know it even existed at all. BUT NOW IT'S EVERYTHING I NEVER KNEW I NEEDED. Haha for some reason I keep reading maggie stiefvater books (I do really like them and find them enoyable but I am not as hyped over stiefvater as some other people). But damn she had me at 1960 aka my favorite time period everr. And then she had me at a mexican family. AND THAT COVER THOU. Can't wait ...more
I'm not sure how I will write this review. Like sometimes there is a book you really enjoy This review will be spoiler free!
I'm not sure how I will write this review. Like sometimes there is a book you really enjoyed but you don't know how to explain that feeling or you can't write it down. Well that's the case for this book.
I think this book is definitely worth the hype. It didn't make me cry or tear up (as this book did for some other people) but this book absolutely dealt with some important and heavy topics. So if you want to read this book you should keep in your mind it's not an easy read. I personally think it's best to go into this book without knowing much. Also robin roe handled this topic very well in my opinion. I personally have had some experience around this topic so I can say from the bottem of my heart Robin Roe dealt with this very respectfully.
Also i loved that this book had multiple pov's. I am such a sucker for multiple point of views & i also feel that it made the story aa lot better and impactful than if we only had one main character. Also Adam is such a precious and I loved his personality. He was probably my favorite character (well he and Charlie) so maybe he was my favorite pov character. Our other main/pov character is julian. and like he is such a cinnamonroll we need to protect at all cost. And then we have Charlie. I related to him the most and i found him very funny. All the other side characters were lovely too. All these friendships were amazing. I love books where there are amazing friendships and lovely family dynamics.
I also read this book soooo quickly and was really captivated in this story. Some lines were very beautiful (loved the last line also soo much). & the meaning of the title was so powerful and really fits this book (don't worry it's referenced in the book). I don't know how i feel about the incident at the all most ending. For some parts i liked it (aka more character development from charlie) but about the rest I kinda feel meh about. But the actual ending was sad but at the same time happy. If you have read the book i think you understand what I mean.
I would definitely recommend this book to other people. It does deal with a heavy topic but also there are some wonderful aspects in this book. It's a book that makes you feel both happy and sad.
Ramona Blue was one of my anticipated books of 2017, but for some reason I started *** This will be a spoiler free review ***
Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟 (4/5 stars).
Ramona Blue was one of my anticipated books of 2017, but for some reason I started losing interest in this book and I never bought it. This changed when it suddenly popped up in my goodreads feed. I was like woaw this was a book I really wanted to read a year ago. So then I mentioned this book in a conversation I had with a friend and suddenly I was on amazon buying this book becaus it was only 4 euros. Gotta say the best 4 euros I spend in a while. This book was such a delightful read. Ramona Blue isn't a book that has a lot of stuff happening. It was just a simple story about a girls life called Ramona who happens to have blue hair who likes girls AND boys. Also because I'm such a lazy-ass-person I'm gonna write this review according likes and dislikes (this is also because I'm writing this review waaaaay to late and this is such an easy way to write a review). So here are my likes and dislikes:
L I K E S 👍 Our main character Romona Blue was amazing. I really liked her and sometimes she was very relatable. Like we've struggled with some simular things and I have always wanted to dye my hair blue. Besides that we could have been the same person, I really liked her narration and her personalities. Also her love for swimming was amazing and I wish that more books would have hobby's in them. I personally also have a love for swimming so that was a bonus point for this book too. 👍 This was such an easy relaxing read. I never wanted to stop reading it and that's probably also why I read this book so fast. This was just such a simple delightful read that I will reread in the future. 👍 The Bi or pan rep was like A+ and really good. This book isn't the case of the right man comes along and he turns you straight. This book definitely wasn't like that aaaaat all. It was just about a girl who thought she only liked girls and thought she was a lesbian. But then she starts to have some romantic feelings for her male childhood best friend. This confuses her and at the end of the book she still isn't sure if she's pan sexual, bi sexual or gay but she's okay with it. Because she truly does like that male friend in a romantic way and she also really really used to like a girl. I personally consider Ramona more as bi sexual than pan sexual but this is because I'm desperate for some good bi rep and that makes Ramona even more relatable to me if she's bi. Also I think there is still a lot of misunderstoodment when it comes to bi sexuality and I think that this book explained it very well and like it's okay if you're not 100% sure if you're gay, bi or pan or if you're still figuring it out. 👍 The sister relationship between Ramona and her sister was amazing and really reminded me at times of the relationship me and my sister have. 👍 The friendships in this book were gold too and I really liked almost all of the side characters. Ramona's dad was amazing too and deserves a honoray medal for best overworked dad. 👍 The character development Ramona went through. This was really good and I really liked it.
D I S L I K E S 👎 The whole hurricane thing. The synopsis made it sound like that hurricane Katrina was gonna be a real big deal but it clearly wasn't. (view spoiler)[ It was basically only mentioned thrice and that was because it was related to the fact that Ramona and her family live in a trailer instead of a house. Because they can't afford to live in a house after hurricane katrina destroyed that house and that their mother left after the hurricane. (hide spoiler)] 👎 Ramona's mother and grace. I really didn't like those two characters. They really frustrated me. 👎 And I can't think of something else to say because I just really really liked this book.
So here you have. I really loved this book so so much and I would recommend it to people if they are looking for a cute and simple story AND IT HAS AMAZING LGBTQ+ REPRESENTATION! ...more
I have been following Carrie for a couple of years now and by now I have read two of *** This review will be spoiler free ***
Rating: 🌟🌟 (2/5 stars).
I have been following Carrie for a couple of years now and by now I have read two of her fiction novels and her non-fiction novel. Both times when I read her fictional novel I ended up feeling a bit dissapointed. Nothing will ever be as good as her non-fiction novel since I really loved that one so so much. I haven't been following Carrie that actively as I used too but I still love her and everything she does. I wish I loved her fiction books more than I actually do.
I think the biggest reason why I'm not a huge fan of her fiction work is because of the fact that Carrie writes magical realism. This year I have finally and fully realised that magical realism isn't for me. I also end up feeling a bit dissapointed when I read a book that has magical realism in it and most of the time it's toooo weird for me. Or simply something I don't like. All that she can see definitely had the kind of magical realism that I don't like (well I don't like magical realism in general. I'm like 100% sure magical realism isn't for me.). It also took me quite the while to read and finish this book. I started reading this book on august 14 of 2017 and I finished this book almost a year later. This probably because I never wanted to read this book and that I never had the motivation to pick this book up. The outside is so so so beautiful but the inside wasn't for me. All the characters fell flat to me and our main character was a bit of a mary sue to me. I just didn't like her at all or connected with her in anyway. I almost forgot how our main character was called because she was just that bland and meh to me (her name is Cherry by the way). The love interest was real meh to me too and didn't do anything for me too. I wasn't in love with any of the side characters too. Everything felt real meh to me. To be quite honest I didn't really like this book. I just didn't care about anything. I don't think that All that she can see is a read that I will rememeber. To me it's a pretty bland and a forgettable read. Nothing really special. I feel so bad for saying this because I love Carrie so so much and I do think she is a very talented person but I don't think her work of fiction are for me. If Carrie ever would write another non-fiction book I will 100% read it but I don't think I will read another of her fiction books (even though when the curtain falls sounds soooo interesting. All of Carrie books do but I always end up dissapointed. Her books never live up to their potential and premise). Everything was bland and meh to me. Like I said earlier I always lacked the motivation to read this book.
So for now I'm gonna say goodbye to the fiction book that Carrie has written. They aren't simply for me. I wish they are but the truth is different. I still think that people should read All I know now, because to this day that's still my favorite non fiction book ever. And I will continue to support Carrie in different ways.
I have finally done it, I have finally finished this book. I'm like so proud of reading the ship of the dead and that I have finally finished the Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard trilogy. I started this trilogy right away when it came out in 2015 and it took me also a long time to read the second book and the third one. I'm just so happy I finished this book. Real proud of myself. Sadly I didn't really like this book and for some reason I don't have the same hype and love for this series as other people do. In fact I think this isn't Rick's best work but one of his worst.
The characters and the diversity of this trilogy are literally the best part of these books. I loved all the characters so much, magnus is such a sweet cinnamo roll and the rest are so cool too. It's also so postive for like the islam rep and being gender fluid. I don't know how Rick did that but he handled is soooo well and so respectfully.
If I actually have to explain my rating for this book it would be something like this: 1 star for the characters (which I absolutely love), 0.25 stars for the 150 pages I actually really liked, 0.25 stars for like the amazing title that the ship of the dead is & like 0.50 stars for the portrayal of the Muslim culture and faith. That was so wonderfully done and also very respectful. All together that makes 2 stars.
In all honestly I legit don't get the hype for these books. I have zero hype for these books. Yes characters, diversity and faith rep ARE AMAZING but that's it. Did not like it it was such a struggle to finish this book (& the other 2 too). Everything seemed waaaay to silly and childish. And to be honest the plot is way too ridiculous even for rick.
Also WTF ARE THOSE LOKI & THOR AND CO. I DIDN'T SIGN UP OR WANTED THOSE GODS TO BE LIKE THAT. LIKE GOD NO. I prefere myth loki and well marvel loki over the shit show that was this 'Loki' Lowkey can't even call him Loki. Same goes about Thor, heimdall and many more. Only a couple of them were cool including frey & freya.
Most of this book I was just so ready to be done with this trilogy. I love the characters but the rest is just so cliche and well so childish. On almost every page I'm like why? Seriously? It just seems so silly to me. Characters are bae thou. But the plot is one big no for me. I did really love the dragon part. That part had me cracking up and was literally brilliant. That was so so good and that has to be the best part of the whole book. That was the kind of silly I can deal with and actually love. Wished there were more moments like that.
In short I expected way different things & wanted way different things than I actually got. I don't think I have outgrown Rick Riordan but I do think I have lost a bit of my love for his latest and newer work. I also came to realise that all the books he released after the blood of olympus and the dark propechy aren't for me. (I did really like the dark propechy and the blood of the olympus). So simply to say I still have high hopes for Rick's new work and I will probably read the novella's about the characters from these books because I do really love them so so much. It was just not for me and such a struggle to read. ...more
Rating: 4 stars (☆☆☆☆) Here is me who got super excited about the release of the dark prophecy. While everybody is reading acowar I am reading the latest riordan book and oh boy i didn't regret this. (Haha probably because i am not a fan of the acotar series and apparently i can't stop being salty about it). THE SECOND TRIALS OF APOLLO JUST GOT RELEASED (2-5-2017) TODAY WHOOP WHOOP!! AND I PREORDERED IT (YUPP SHOCKING) AND I STARTED IT TODAY (3rd of may) CAUSE I HAD TO WORK YESTERDAY AND SO FAR SO GOOD❤❤ IT IS AAAA LOT BETTER THAN THE FIRST ONE. I LIKED THAT ONE BUT I FELT SOMETHING WAS MISSING. AND THIS ONE IS DOING JUSTICE TOO OUR BABY LEO VALDEZ❤❤ AND NICO DI ANGELO OUR OTHER BAE HAD A GOOD ROLE IN THE FIRST ONE but apparently not in this one *starts sobbing*.
Like some people don't like apollo. HOW?? Like i have a serious love for that ridiculious god😂lol now I'll probably will reread pjo.
Lol apollo is hating on athena en hera AND I LOVE IT
Still don't like meg that much (I do like her a little more) and loll apollo like YAS SOMEBODY HAS THE RIGHT PRIORITIES BY SCREAMING SAVE APOLLO 😂 Omg lovee that he thinks saving someone is a character flaw 😂😂 it was a baddy thou. & YASSS TO SOME THALIA GRACE ACTION AND KICKING PEOPLES BUTT
AND THE TITLE OF THE NEXT ONE THE BURNING MAZE THAT' A PRETTY COOL TITLE (not as cool as the ship of the death). And now i am left wondering what the burning maze will be (dadelous labyrinth coming back?) And i have to wait a whole year to gibd out. Still better than the two year wait after i'll finish lord of shadows😭😭...more
I am a little bit too lazy to write a very big review, but I will do my best. I just finisRating: ☆☆☆☆ (4/5 stars)
This will be a non spoiler review!
I am a little bit too lazy to write a very big review, but I will do my best. I just finished this book and i really did like it. I personally really liked our main character mia. I really loved her attitude and I felt she was a very real character. She was sometimes annoying and did stupid things, but in the end I didn't mind that because those things/flaws made her to me a really well developed character. Also at times I could really relate to mia. At home I am the youngest child & I have an older brother and sister (and they're twins btw). And at times I felt the same feelings as Mia and I also struggled with myself. So you bet mia was very relatable to me. And I also loveeed Auds and that the parents had a big role in this book. Sam was also an interesting character all though he was at times very posh😂 oh and I loved how british this book was & I defintely have learned some new words. Also very out of context but the author lisa williamson is soooooo nice. I have met her almost a year ago (& her sense of style is like goals). So i am happy to say I enjoyed well really enjoyed another book by her. I can't wait to see and read another book by her. Lisa williamson is probably becoming one of my auto buy authors (not just because she's really cool and nice) but i do really really enjoy her stories.
Oh and i think I might even like this one more than the art of being normal and I did really like this one. (view spoiler)[ and that birth scene was so gross. Like i wouldn't have handled it the same way like mia did. If my sister was giving birth to her baby and nobody but me was around I"ll probably would freak out and be like YOU BETTER KEEP THAT BABY INSIDE YOU UNTIL THERE IS HELP AND I'M LIKE IN THE OTHER ROOM AND NOT IN THE ROOM WHERE IT'S HAPPENING. Lol luckily my sister is going to be a nurse so she'll probably know what to do (hide spoiler)]
So this review got way longer than I expected it tp be. Haha this probably shows how much i did like it and I would highly recommend to reas all of her books!
btw special thanks for waterstones picadilly for having a buttload of all about mia signed copies. Cause now are all of my lisa williamson books signed. And I don't live in the uk or usa so i am always gratefull for finding signed copies. ...more
Big scream lover here. I even own a scream rubber duck (at least I didn't buy it but my aunt and uncle did😂)
Loveee the cover
I stayed up waaay to late while reading this book.
LOL THATS SERIOUSLY MAKANI'S SECRET? lol thought she was the new sidney and was like a victim of a wild killing spree in Hawaii but apparently not. Stupid secret.
What the fuck was that actual killer's motive? What was that motive? Meh killer. Bit stereotype and it was like discovered a bit to early in my opinion. Not a big shocker.
Loved the gory bloody details. It was definitely horror enough. Only not in the beginning😂 but yasss to all the blood and death. this sounds so weird. I promise I'm not a serial killer. Lol don't like blood that much in real life though and probably tooooo lazy for all the plotting, running around and stabbing people. Besides MAKE LOVE NOT WAR! (view spoiler)[ Lol ollie probably agrees but then he also runs butt naked after a killer. So yeah (hide spoiler)]
ALSO WHY DO PEOPLE WHO LIKE HORROR STUFF AND HAVE A BIG MOUTH AND ARE TOUGH ALWAYS DIE? LIKE WHY? (view spoiler)[ #justiceforalex. (hide spoiler)]
Meh romance. Not biggest fan of ollie though.
Action packed. Lol stephenie perkins can write super fluffy scenes but also some brutal scenes.
Cool diversity. Wish some characters were more developed but lol basically horror characters are like stupid. Most stupid people ever at least they didn't split up.
It was a totally satisfying read and i did really enjoy it. Haha wouldn't mind some more horror books from Perkins. ...more
Damn this book is soooo relateble. Like I probably related to almost every character. Like I felt sometimes like Molly (uncomfortable in my own skin) but then I'm also basically Cassie, Reid, Will & Olivia😂😂 Like damn Becky that's impressive.
I liked this one less than Simon but that doesn't mean that this one was bad. I can't even consider this a bad book. I liked it and I loveee the message that this books sends & how diverse this book is and that diversity never felt forced or fake. It's just that it took me a while to get really invested in the story. I liked the characters but I wasn't crazy about them from the first page. And don't hate me but not a crazy amount of stuff happend.
Haha my not over the top love for this book can also be because of a reading slump (aka the lord of shadows slump) And I'll probably this one in the future because it is very cute and a relateble read for me.
I gave this book a 2 stars because I did really like it but I had some "issues" (if you even can call them issues) I gave Simon vs. The homo sapiens agenda 4/5 stars and my enjoyment of the upside of unrequited was a bitt less. Still people should also read this one. Like a thousand kuddos to Becky for the message of this book. But then Becky is a wonderful human being (& I'm allowed to say this cause I have met her in person apparently I have met quite some authors).
So yeah what are you waiting for? Go read this book! Like now.
------------------------------------
#Iamsuchandidiot. Now I know why I wanted to see more of Simon and Abby😂😂 I can be so ignorant at times (give me a riddle and I can say I'll probably don't know the answer). I am ashamed to say I didn't really remembered Simon and abby. And oh god Nick. This shows I really really need to reread Simon vs the homo sapiens agenda again.
AFTER THINKING ABOUT MY RATING OF THIS BOOK I DECIDED TO LOWER IT TO 2 STARS. I'VE COME TO REALISE THAT I WAS REALLY DISSAPOINTED BY THIS BOOK. AND IN ALL HONESTY I DIDN'T REALLY LIKE THE UPSIDE OF UNREQUITED. TO BE QUITE CLEAR I HAVEN'T REALLY RECOMMENDED THIS BOOK TO ANYONE. I EVEN SAID TO A FRIEND DON'T BOTHER WITH READING THIS ONE IT'S VERY BORING. I WILL KEEP MY ORIGINAL REVIEW POSTED BECAUSE SOME OF THE POINTS I MADE IN THERE ARE STILL VALID. LIKE THE BOOK WAS VERY RELATEBLE FOR ME AND THE DIVERSITY REP WAS GREAT. I PERSONALLY JUST DIDN'T LIKE IT AND IT HAS ALSO LOWERED MY EXCITEMENT FOR NEW BECKY ALBERTALLI BOOKS. IF YOU LIKED THIS BOOK I'M GLAD BUT IT WASN'T FOR ME. AND MY THREE STAR RATING WOULD BE A LIE BECAUSE FOR THIS BOOK BECAUSE FOR ME IT FITS MORE INTO MY 2 STAR RATING SYSTEM THAN MY 3 STAR RATING SYSTEM. ...more
Strange the dreamer has been sitting on my physical TBR since October 2018, and I didn´t *** Contains potential spoilers ***
Rating: 🌟🌟🌟 (3/5 stars).
Strange the dreamer has been sitting on my physical TBR since October 2018, and I didn´t really have any interest in picking it up soon or just by myself. But when I did actually pick it out of my TBR jar for February I was really happy. Picking this book finally gave me the motivation to read it and it was definitely an interesting experience and I did like the book. Haha, only in my eyes it is not as good as Laini´s daughter of smoke and bone trilogy/world.
So yeah I did really enjoy this book. Laini´s writing was phenomenal and beautiful as usual. She has such a way with words, it almost feels like a gift. Laini is definitely a really talented writer and I totally get why she is so popular among readers and in the YA community. Also, her worlds are all so unique and different. If you really want to read a fantasy novel(YA fantasy novel) than you should totally pick up her work since they are out of this world and have such unique well-developed worlds and settings. This book also felt like a love letter to books and readers without it being pretentious or overly preachy. You just felt the atmosphere of the great library and how much Lazlo and the library monks/novices loved books, writings, and documents. The fairytale lore of this novel was also really interesting and cool (basically the whole world is interesting, cool and fucking unique). I did fairly like Lazlo but he isn´t my new favorite character; I thought he was just okay. Besides, this book as a very worse case of insta-love. I am personally NOT A FAN OF INSTA LOVE. In her previous books, the insta love made some sense but in this one, it was just unbelievable. Also, I feel that Lazlo had waaaaaaaaaay more chemistry with Thyon Nero than he had with Sarai. I didn´t feel Sarai and Lazlo had any chemistry or any connection besides friendship. Lazlo and Thyon would have made waaaay more sense and like Lazlo was there when Nero had a hard time and vice versa (Thyon was there when Lazlo found out that he was godspawn too). Haha, maybe I am not a big fan of Sarai´s story and her family. The only one I liked from Sarai´s family was Minya. I love one psychopath/sociopath kiddo like a character who is not nice and tethers the death to herself. Her controlling the dead WAS LITERALLY EVERYTHING and the best part of the story. I really enjoyed Minya as a character and I really found myself rooting for her. Oh and this story was also so fucking slow. One of the slow, slowest pace stories I have read this year. It just took such a long time to get the story started and almost nothing happened in the beginning. This book could have been a lot shorter. However, did really like that almost nobody was entirely good or entirely bad and how sex-positive this novel was.
I would say give it a go if you are really interested in the story or want to read it, but I simply think it is not Laini´s greatest work. I personally prefer the daughter of smoke and bone trilogy. No clue if I will end up reading muse of nightmares, haha maybe through audio or if I can find it somewhere for very cheap. I feel pretty neutral about this book. ...more
Warning this review has been written by a serious shadowhunter fangirl. This review will also contain some spoilers so quick warning: if you don't want to be spoiled by this book or any other shadowhunter book DO NOT READ THIS REVIEW! Another quick note this are 100% my real reactions while reading this book and special thanks to my friend Jeon for putting up with my fangirl reactions (most of these reactions, quotes etcetera were send to her) So now those little announcements are out of the way, lets start with the fangirl reaction review:
I FINALLY HAVE IT. I HAVE WAITED A WHOLE YEAR FOR THIS.
And then i screamed very loudly no at my book. IF CASSIE IS GOING TO DO THAT I WILL BE A RAGING FANGIRL. MORE THAN EVER. at least one question got answered BUT STILL NOOOOOOOOOH. I almost wanted to spoil myself. But its not going to happen (I personally really love Clary).
"I defy you shadowhunters. I mock you with my sugar cravings." - kit herondale. Lolllll how does cassie clare come up with these lines?😂😂
YASS PERFECT DIEGO IS NOT PERFECT! Which i already knew😂
LETS GET ZARA KILLED. LIKE CAN THAT GIRL DROP DEA. Like pleasee. I have only known her for like 5 pages and i already hate her with a burning passion. And what a stupid name. I would never name my kid zara, but then I also don't like zara so yeah xD
Yass to star wars references And i love kit to death. "Loathsome zara." - kit herondale. Oh god i love kit. LOL THIS PROVES MY POINT. I HAVE SERIOUSLY A THING FOR HERONDALES.
I THINK KIT IS BI. LIKE HE KISSED LIVVY BUT HE MUST HAVE A THING FOR TY I AM SURE. Kit can be soo whiney but i still love him
KILL THE BITCH. FUCKING ZARA
MARK FUCKING BLACKTHORN KISS THAT GIRL FINALLY. I am such a mark and christina shipper😂. Why cant ships be so easy?
MY POOR FAERIE KIERAN. He deserves so much better.
WHUT THE FUCK DID JUST HAPPEN? Did not see that coming aka emma's dad being not dead.
Sassy kit😂😂 Okay i have a new favorite characterr. GO DIANA GO. HAHA TELL THAT BITCH OF A ZARA THE TRUTH WHAHA I LOVED THAT SHE CALLED HER A STUPID CHILD. (Yupp the Zara hate will not go away apparently).
I KNEW IT. I KNEW IT. I KNEW IT! NEVER BELIEVE A BAD GUY IS DEAD UNTIL YOU SEE A BODY! SOME WISE WORDS BY SIMON LEWIS. I WAS RIGHT! FUCK OFF MALCOLM IS THE REACTION THAT FOLLOWS.
"So thats why they haven't been able to find malcolm's body." - Kit. NO SHIT SHERLOCK.
OH AND I DON'T BELIEVE THAT EMMAS DADDY IS ALIVE AGAIN
Found out the 1st dead. R.i.p Jon.
HAHA EVEN MALCOLMS OWN LOVER WAS LIKE BITCH PLEASE I AM SO OVER YOU. CAUSE AT THE END OF LADY MIDNIGHT SHE WAS CLEARLY AWAKE AND SHE CLEARLY DOESN'T WANT TO SEE HIM 😂
I KNEW EMMAS DAD WAS TRULY DEAD. I STILL DON'T TRUST THE SEELIE QUEEN. Hate her with a passion too.
2nd dead and i guessed that one right. I KNEW IT I KNEW IT! Yupp i totally knew she would kill him #karma. It always comes back to karma. #stupidmalcolm.
EMMA HAS SENSE. She fears the Queen. Smart girl. I would have said thanks for saving us but no thanks oh and fuck you bitch hope you will die painfully some day and we gotta go now. BUT NO THOSE LITTLE SHADOWHUNTERS WANT THEIR DREAMS TO COME TRUE and i would have back stabbed the queen sooo hard. But then that could also be the slytherin in me that's speaking xD
KIT YOU IDIOT YOU CAN'T CALL WILLIAM HERONDALE AN IDIOT YOU IDIOT!
Lol Diana is weirded out by gwyn the hunters affection and this seriously cracked me up. Loll and now they're going out. This is amazing and very hilarious😂😂 So you bet i laughed out loud soo hard.
Whaha jessie is gold. How she scared the crap out of kit😂😂
Why did they let evelyn highsmith run an institute? Wasn't there anybody else? Somebody better?
Aaaahhhh all the kit and ty feelsss. Like them hugging is everything i never knew i needed.
LOL I CAN'T STILL GET OVER THE FACT THAT GWYN THE HUNTER IS FLIRTING WITH DIANA 😂😂😂 Like this cracks me up. I clearly love this book so much<3
"The herondales have always been famous for their good looks. But if you ask me, the lightwoods are the more sexually charismatic of the bunch. Alec spit out his tea." - cassandra clare, lord of shadows. That made me snort out loud way tooo hard. God i love my babby alec. His reactions are always sooo gold. I WOULD HAVE LOVED IF ALEC RUNNED AN INSTITUTE!
PEOPLE SHOULD GIVE DRU MORE THINGS TO DO. I VOTE FOR DRU BEING ON A MISSION TOO.
"I've never really thought of serial killers as having a shower gel." - Emma Carstairs. Uhmm how else would they wash all the blood off their bodies when they are done with murdering people?
Can i get a selfie with them? Did she just really say that aloud? Woaw Emma just woaw. And what the hell are piskies? Okay they are basically pixies #longlivegoogle!
I am way too deep in this fandom apparently. I clearly loves this series aaa lot.
AGREE DRU. I WOULD HAVE SLAPPED THAT WOMAN IF SHE CALLED ME FAT FOR TWO MONTHS. FINALLY WE HAVE MET THE FAMOUS JAIME ROSALES. And i already like him more than "perfect diego". Yasss jaime and dru teaming up
"Blackthorn: a bad law is no law! Lightwood: we mean well. (Those are obviously right) Herondale: If you don't know what your last name is, it's probably Herondale. Carstairs: We have a sword. Blunt instruments are for losers. Morgenstern: When in doubt star a war." Loll love sassy emma and julian
Okay i might ship Diana and gwyn. All though i can't stop laughing when they interact. Its soo ridiculious and funny. Oh god i am seriously crying with laughter now😂
MARK AND CHRISTINA ARE DANCING AND MY SHIPPERS HEART CAN'T TAKE IT.
OMGGGGGGG I AM SOOO WAITING FOR THE KIT AND TY KISSSSSS. LIKE KISSSSS NOWWW. I AM LIKE 90% SURE THEY WILL GET THEIR OWN SERIE (aka the wicked powers) AND I SERIOUSLY WANT IT NOWWWW!
Annabel you are annoying as fuck.
How many people do i ship now? Like obviously julian and emma, mark and christina, kit and ty, gwyn and diana? (Not sure about that one yet cause i can't stop laughing at it) & i think i might ship jaime and dru.
I loveee dru a lot AND I LOVE THAT SHE IS FINALLY DOING SOMETHING. LIKE YASSS SLAY THEM DRU.
I am a little creeped out by the fact that julian wants to burn down a church and that he doesn't care that he wants to burn down a church. AND THAT SMILE! I think the special parabatai bond is making him darker and more ruthless than ever and its a little creeppyy. SHADOWHUNTERS SHOULDN'T BURN DOWN CHURCHES ON PURPOSE. WTF EMMA WHY DID YOU HELP HIM? NOW YOU'VE GOT YOUR PROOF.
WELL DONE CARSTAIRS. I AM SO PROUD OF YOU THAT YOU RUN AWAY FROM JULIAN. Le me just seriously cheered at that😂😂 god I can be so weird
" Faeries: We seek and we find. We are the searchers. We have been in faerie and in the realms of the damned and on battlefields and in the dark of night and the bright of day. In all our lives there has only been one thing we have sought and not found." Emma Cordelia Carstairs: a sense of humor?" This made me laugh way too hard😂😂
My family is sooo laughing at me because of my reactions while reading this book😂
Somebody says the word everything three times in one sentence and Carstairs be like wanna say it again don"t think i got the everything part lolll.
If you thought that Alec, Simon, Clary, Izzy, Jace etcetera got in serious trouble, than you haven't met the characters from Lady Midnight and Lord of Shadows yet. I AM LEGIT SURPRISED BY THEIR ABILITY TO GET SUCKED IN SUCH RIDICULOUS SITUATIONS AND THEY GET IN SOOO MUCH TROUBLE. LIKEEE HOW? I think I am that surprised that my grammar isn't working anymore. Like now they are stuck with the wrath/revenge/vengeance of centuries old faeries BECAUSE EMMA HAD SUCH A BIG NEED TO KILL A FAERIE THAT HAS BEEN ALIVE FOR CENCTURIES. Like you didn't have to stab him with Cortana. AND LIKE HOW DO YOU GET IN LEGIT SO MUCH TROUBLE. DO YOU HAVE A SERIOUS DEATH WISH?
I was so proud of Emma for running away but now I am so dissapointed in her. Like i ship them together but the dark power thingy is a little bit disturbing and it is affecting Julian greatly and Emma too btw. OKAY I REGRET WHAT I SAID I SHIP THEM SOOOO HARD. "Break my heart he said break it in pieces. I give you my permission." - julian blackthorn. THAT LINE RUINED ME. I DON'T CARE ANYMORE! I WANT MY BABIES TO BE HAPPY!
I HAVE A SERIOUS LOVE FOR DRU Lol tavvy might be my least favorite Blackthorn and then livvy but i do really like them aaaa lot too. (After editing this review I regret this comment. LIVVY IS EVERYTHING)
Yass to the jaime and Christina reunion. And hopefully we'll get more answers (well at least we got some answers).
WTF HOW DO THESE CHARACTERS KEEP GETTING IN MORE TROUBLE? SERIOUSLY HOOOOOOOOOW?
Can you take me off the ground, cause i am dying with laughter again😂😂😂 Never knew a relationship between a very old faerie hunter and a shadowhunter could make me laugh soo hard. I even tried to hold my laugh but it was no use.
WAIT WHUT? IS THAT DIANAS SECRET?
Okay I am dead. From laughing so hard 😂 😂😂 GWYN'S CONFUSION😂😂😂 I am dead 😂 I SHIP THEM FULLY NOW.
Never thought that diana's secret would be that she is transgender. That caught me by surprise and i loveee how cassie makes her books soo diverse. Like there's nothing wrong with being transgender and this made me like diana even more. She is so strong and determined. Like I have some serious respect for that woman and shadowhunters aren't the easiest people when it comes to people who are ‘different.
"Pyromania interests me." - ty blackthorn. CASSANDRA CLARE HOW DO YOU COME UP WITH THESE LINES?
Oh god no there isn't seriously a hot faerie threesome going on? What if kieran likes Christina too? That would be so messed up and weird. 2018 Emma TOTALLY DISAGREES WITH THIS STATEMENT and is all for the love square between these amazing characters. Kieran deserves a better life. Christina & Mark are just everything.
Poor baby tavvy. Of course he would cry. Julian is like a father to him.
AND AGAIN MORE TROUBLE xD
Wait what if Julian seriously goes into exile? (Obviously it was never going to be Julian. I honestly don't know why I thought that)
I AM ON PAGE 605 and still 94 TO GO. #Iamnotreadyforittobeoveryet
"I have to hand it to you," he said. I never thought Jace and Clary would be topped by anyone else in terms of insane, self-destructive decisions, but you all are giving them a run for their money." - A quote by Magnus bane aka my thoughts exactly.
God i love Emma Carstairs like if she wouldn't have run outside to save that little girl. I would have been very mad.
And then fucking Annabel Blackthorn comes into the battle with that book. You have just been in a battle almost lost and died and WHAT DO YOU THINK FREE BLADES? loll kit you little kleptomaniac. (and my precious)
She is not his biggest fan these days. Shockerrr. Of course she isn't his biggest fan. Annabel killed malcolm so that should have said enough.
YASSS LIVVY AND TY WILL BE PARABATAI I KNEWWW IT.
Still don't trust Annabel. Like I get it her life sucked but I have a bad feeling about her. A feeling that she might do something stupid or impulsive.
Yupp my love for Alec has never been bigger. And the way he talked to Zara. I loved every second of it. Still hope that bitch dies but my baby Alec is still everything and his sarcasm is gold.
Wait what? Did robert lightwood just die? Woaw i am speechless
NOOO!! NOOOOOOOOOO!!! LIVVY IS DEAD? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I hate fucking cassandra clare. Thats how i felt while closing the book. HATEEEEEEE THAT WOMAN HOWWW COULD SHE DO THAT (I obviously donut hate her for real). Can't believe she did that. Couldn't believe she killed robert lightwood but I can get over that. BUT LIVVY? Like how could she kill one of the blackthorns soo easily. SHE AND TY WERE FINALLY GOING TO BE PARABATAI. I HAD HIGH HOPES FOR THAT. Poor ty AND POOR JULIAN. Like it happend soo fast. I had to reread that line. And I almost cried when I read Julian's reaction. (I will probably never get over this. (view spoiler)[Just as with mockingjay when Finnick Odair died. aka still r.i.p. me (hide spoiler)])
I KNEW FUCKING ANNABEL WAS GOING TO DO SOMETHING STUPID and wtf about the mortal sword breaking. It isn't supposed to break like that isn't it? lol that sword has got some serious bad karma and bad luck.
AND WHERE ARE CLARY AND JACE? AND POOR ALEC HE FINALLY HAD A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS DAD! AND IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO MAGNUS I WILL BE MORE RAGING.
I want to see annabel as the villain but honestly i can't. I feel bad for her thou. girls got some issues and then i don't like those issues. But I get why she reacted that way sort of. BUT I AM STILL NOT OKAT WITH THE WAY SHE REACTED. THEY WERE SORT OF KIND TO YOU. WHY YOU DO THIS TO THEM?
STILL COULDN'T FUCKING ZARA DIE INSTEAD OF LIVVY? Why didn't that bitch die instead of livvy. I honestly never thought she (Livvy) would die. I was more afraid that dru would die. I never even considered livvy. Like i am sooo convinced ty and kit will be the main characters in the wicked powers and i never even thought a second that livvy wouldn't be in that series too.
CAN WE BRING LIVVY BACK FROM THE DEAD? I am sooo not going to be okay. I am going to be bitter about this for quite some time. Lord of shadows would have been my favorite cassie clare book of all time but the ending killed that. And i was soo optimistic about the deaths. Like we all knew there would be 4 deaths. And in city of heavenly fire we had 6 deaths and i was scared out of my mind for those 6 deaths but they didn't kill me as much as i had expected (okay still not over santiago) and that gave me high hopes that i wouldn't be that bothered by those four deaths. WELL I WAS WRONG. SO WRONG! HAPPY CASSIE CLARE? Now i will be dying with feelings for not one year but two fucking years.
This will obviously be my favorite book of 2017. Nothing can beat this. I am sure of that. ...more
One thing I can definitely say is that I enjoyed this book a thousand This review will have some spoilers!!
Rating: ⛤⛤ (3/5 or maybe even 3.5 stars).
One thing I can definitely say is that I enjoyed this book a thousand times more than the 2017 wonder woman film adaptation. I actually hated that film or I really disliked that one. I liked the story more and also the development of Diana's power didn't came out of nowhere. AND THE FEMALE FRIENDSHIPS. Like this book had aaaaamazing female friendships & seriously a lot of books can learn from this.
So yes I did enjoy this book but it's not my favorite leigh bardugo book. It was fun but not crazily amazing & I did expected a bit more of the plot. I don't know where this review is going😂😂 Well let's talk about the pro's and the cons about this book.
 Pro's - The characters: especially Diana. I really loved Diana but then I have always loved her character (even in the 2017 adaptation i was in love with her). I love how her brain works and she is sooo smart and funny and honest & at times a bit naive. Her strenght is amazing and how much faith she has in the world and in humanity. I have to say I was a bit touched about the fact that she wanted to make this world a better place. She is a genuine amazone. I really liked that she was one of our main characters. Alia. Alia was an interesting character too but I never connected with her as I did with Diana. I sort of missed a spark. But I liked that she was a very strong character. Maybe not in the physical aspect but she was emotionally very strong. I also liked that she was a big science/biology nerd. Because in real life there are also female science geeks so I really liked that about her. Nim & Theo. They were both fun side kicks. I loved that Nim was crazily obsessed with fashion. Also kuddo's to leigh for not making Nim's sexuality such a big deal. In my opinion the representation was very good and humble (I am personally not in the LGBTQ+ community but I know a lot of people that are and I think that Leigh representated them very respectfully.) Her sass level was amazing too. Haha Theo even had a bigger sass level than her and I loveeed there banter (friendship banter). Some amazing funny lines: " And then I'm the queen of the netherlands." - nim. This is probably my favorite line of the whole book: We're the villains! It's always cooler to be the villain. You get to wear black and have a lair and brood. Besides, girls can't resist a bad boy." YOU GET IT THEO. Villains are the best
- the amazing female friendships. In the beginning I was totally ready to ship Alia and Diana but then it became very clear that they were just friends. And honestly I loved that quite a lot. There friendship was very beautiful. The same goes with Nim and Alia and even the three of them. It was like the perfect example of what female friendships in books should be like. It was such a positive, surportive, happy, healthy, girl power friendship. More books should just have female friendships like this. Oh man it was amazing.
- the world and themyscira. I hated the way themyscira looked in the movie. It looked so fake in it but damnn Leigh Bardugo knew how to describe that beautiful island and now I totally want to visit it. Well after I died in like at least 40 years or so😂 but yes it was explained very well and i could really visualize it.
- Diversity: The diversity representation was aaaamazing. Like this book was soooo diverse. Almost all characters were poc (I believe only Diana was white but I'm not even sure she was white). Also one of the characters is a lesbian. The diversity was just wonderful (see what I did there xD).
- the writing. Leigh's writing was gorgeous as usual. I always love the way she writes her books.
 The cons: - Jason. I loathed his character from the beginning. He is such a shitty person. Like in the beginning he was such an overprotecting jerk of a human being. Ordering Alia around like he owned her but it was all for her own good? I don't like crap or bullshit like that. Also I didn't trust him in the beginning but then he sort of earned my trust. But then he didn't die on that plane crash because of his strenght and hundred raders went off in my head. So I started to mis trust hik & I basically spoiled myself that he was the villain because I was tooo afraid that he and Diana would end up together. Which brings me to my next point. and I also don't like that he was our villain. Wished someone else was it.
- WHERE IS A LGBTQ+ DIANA? I was really hoping that Bardugo would portray Diana as gay or bi girl. In most comics she's part of that community and most people in Themyscira are either gay or bi sexual. I was severley dissapointed in this (the same goes with the film adaptation of ww) Hopefully this will be explored in the other wonder woman books, because let's face it the ending basically announced she will be back.
- The plot: I wasn't the biggest fan of the plot. Not a crazy amount of action happend and this book was basically a character driven book and I personally loveee plot driven books. So this was a bit of a let down. And the beginning was real slow. I honestly did not care about that race & I wouldn't have started this book like that. Also the evil gods like phobos and stuff popping up was a bit weird. Not that necessary and honestly it didn't make any sense. And the plot was also okay not amazing but not boring or bad. I expected it to be a bit more exciting (maybe i have watched tooo many superhero films or tv shows or read to many comics😂).
- The beginning: The beginning of this book was real slow. It took me like a 100 pages to get really invested and excited about reading this book. Before those 100 pages I wasn't that keen on picking this book up again. Soooooo many times I was planning on reading this book and it lay next to me or I had it with me but I never started reading it. I always ended up doing something else. So yeah I lacked the motivation to pick this up.
- The villain: The whole villain thing dissapointed me quite a lot. I still don't really get Jason's motivations. And I basically hated that guy and he doesn't deserve to be a bad guy. Personally would have liked it more if Theo's dad was like the big baddy. That would have made more sense and like he could have brainwashed that douchebag of a jason or something like that. Just no to jason being the bad guy. Like that asshole, controle freak manipulating bitch doesn't deserve that title. (Whaha you can see how serious i take my villains).
So yeah I gave this book around 3 or 3.5 stars. It was definitely entertaining and some aspects i really loved (DIANAAAAA) and some other things I didn't like that much. Maybe my expectations were a bit too high. Before I had read all of Leighs work I wanted to read this book but my expectations were very low. But then I read all of her other works this year and maybe it set the bar a bit too high. Definitely would suggest to pick this book up if it sounds interesting too you, if you love Bardugo or if you love wonder woman. ...more
