All the characters are so real and flawed and so incredibly well developed. This is my favorite kind of book which focuses on relationships (both romantic and friendship) and all the effort and chemistry needed to make them grow and flourish. And it’s also the perfect mix of serious and honest topics mixed with plenty of playful and funny moments too. There’s a tremendous focus on life being what you choose to make of it and that you need to be able to take the good with the bad. I didn’t want this book to end and I wish I could go to this hotel in Newport and be with all the wedding people!...more

The main character Julia is so relatable and flawed and I was rooting for her even amongst some of her most terrible decisions. And then there are so many other characters to love. The author brings to life the trials of marriage, motherhood, friendship, childhood trauma, misunderstandings, grudges, and many other relationship dynamics. This book is long but I found myself always wanting to pick it up to be with these characters. The audio narrator does the perfect job of bringing Julia to life. Now I can’t wait to read Claire Lombardo’s first book!...more

I love how Emily Henry always includes the love of books or careers related to books within her stories and this time it was a children’s librarian. I loved the deep dive into the complexity of relationships and all the good as well as the challenges that go along with them. Highly recommend this one and the audio is done by my absolute favorite narrator Julia Whalen....more

The characters were so real and relatable and every person deserves a Jacob in their life. I laughed and cried throughout this whole book which is not common for me. Several topics are tackled including health issues and chronic anxiety. I love how Abby adds these types of things to her characters in such an eloquent way and turning them into characters who you wish you could give a hug and be friends with. She also has a very important author’s note at the end.
