but nonetheless, isabel's writing style is so captivating and easy to read, and she always sweeps me up into her stories and doesn't let me go until they're completed. i loved the combination of historical events based around egypt in the 1800's, ancient magic, plot twists, and - as per usual with isabel ibañez - insane chemistry and swoonworthy romance.
so much fun, a unique and interesting plot, brilliant romance! a really enjoyable read....more

but other than that, this was addictive, highly amusing trash, and the characters were fun. plus some of the plot concepts were pretty interesting! now i await book 2......more

anyway, this was entertaining as hell, addictive, ridiculous, trashy goodness. this author always writes the best guilty pleasure reads. men were obsessed (except for whatever tf is happening with finley - i hope to get a bit more of him next book), and there wasn't really a plot, but i was entertained nonetheless.

it certainly didn't really have the enemies-to-lovers or the slow burn vibes that i was hoping for, but the love interest was satisfactorily swoonworthy and obsessed with our fmc, which is always fun.
i also thought that the fmc, despite apparently being some incredible, vampyr killing, badass huntress was... frighteningly weak. she seemed to lose an awful lot of fights, even when she was trying to win, and just kept getting rescued. kinda disappointing.
all in all, an easy, addictive, quick romantasy read. nothing stood out, but it provided some amusing entertainment!...more
