did not like it

This book made me want to bash my head in with a pickaxe it was so plodding despite the REALLY interesting plot. I literally one arm crawled my way through this ill written nightmare just so I could see how it ended, I was THAT interested. Never again, my friend. I forgot that I even read it until just now, getting back from Christmas, seeing it on my desk. Ooops. Giving it one star because somebody else should have taken that (fairly interesting) plot and made a better book. Yick.

Renee You are soooo right!

Lectus I'm "reading it"right now and just skipping pages to find out what happened to the town.

Rebecca Russell I absolutely agree!

Hank Hutton Yeah this was a rough read. I literally powerhoused the last 250 just to finish it. And what happened to the town was kind of whack honestly. Story coulda been better.

Stephen You might look into Creepers or Scavenger by David Morrell similar premises better execution. Scavenger is more like Abandon, but Creepers is the first book with the characters. Anyway, just a thought.

Renee Thank you Stephen!

Eve Same rating, same powering through it because I wanted to see how it ended. But one of the worst books I've ever read.

Kristin Halberg Liked the plot- liked the characters. The ending, the depressing nature of it all... Time wasted. I feel used.

Karen I just finished reading this, and I felt like this book would never end. I wanted to finish just to find out what happened. I think this book would have been much better if the details had been more streamlined.

Jen 100% agree. So much potential and then blah. I kept hoping the ending would improve. No luck.

message 11: by Maryn (new) - rated it 1 star

Maryn I was reading it on a Kindle and started skipping just to see what happened to the town in 1893.

message 12: by Etta (new) - rated it 1 star

Etta I felt like the book was a cross between a modern-day ‘Scooby-Doo and ‘Murder, She Wrote.

Logan Hastie This review sums my feelings up perfectly. It's hard to understand how such a gripping mystery and backstory was such a struggle to get through. it took me weeks to read because I kept getting bored with it, and I finish most books within a few days.

Tracy I was really disappointed there wasn't some explanation for the insanity, like lead poisoning. I thought that was being hinted at, but it came to nothing.

JasonA It was definitely lead poisoning, or at least heavy metal poisoning. The preacher's spring had orange "algae." Scott explained at the beginning that was a sign for metal contamination in water.

Tia Lockhart I hate to agree bc i like Blake Crouch, but this wasn't it. It didn't flow well, and the characters were forgettable. I rated it a 2.

Dori Gray Can someone just message me the ending please? I’m struggling with this one!
