(5/16/18) actually started reading the book and it's horrible.

(Original rating) There's no reason to drag this into four books. There's probably going to be a book for every character as well....*Sigh* thank god for free ebooks.

*I rated this book two years ago. Before you comment that I shouldn't have rated it please understand I don't give a fuck. 🤷🏻‍♀

Shauki Al-Gareeb There's no reason to rate an unreleased (and unwritten) novel. Why bother with it if you have a lot of books to read or things to do?

❤︎ ⸆⸉ Chelsea. When you read the book you're more than welcome to return to this rating and let me know how right I was.

JAMIE Tonnes of people are rating it five stars even though it hasn't come out. If you haven't said that to everyone who has rated it five stars then you can't say it to her.

message 4: by Jane (new) - rated it 1 star

Jane Worthingting I know. It's going to be bad. Period.

Alice Rhodes Sorry that link was for an article by Brett Michael on the danger of overhyped books. Was wondering if you'd read it

Alicia Barnette Yeah. She seems to be also really rude to people who criticise her. See what she said to someone who asked for her to respond to their email. It's like the bourgeoisie reprimanding the proletariat about it. She really has that kind of "rich entitled girl" thing about her that's really hard to ignore while reading it. I get she can't reply to everyone but the worst thing to say is that you can't reply because your work is "so hard" and you needed to take a "vacation" because your work is so hard. Like WTF?!!! Any budding writer would kill to have a book deal. How could she complain about being an employed and represented writer?

This is what she said in response to the fan who was, I'll admit, was a bit forthcoming when asking her to respond but still... I don't think she had to be quite so harsh on him:

[ This is outright HILARIOUS. I am absolutely not the person to step to this on. Feel free to scroll through my site and see how many dozens of questions I answer in a week.

I answer questions DAILY unless I’m on vacation (which, fun fact, I just returned from a few hours ago). Even when I was neck-deep in my final weeks of the KC deadline, I was answering asks. I’m very sorry if I’ve never answered a question of yours, but to say I don’t answer asks is not only laughable, it’s an ignorant, uninformed lie. Thanks for playing!

Another thing: no author, NOT ONE, is obligated to answer asks or reader questions. For whatever reason, an author is well within their rights not to engage on this level.

And I’m sorry to say, yes, authors can absolutely be THAT busy. Between travel, publicity, promotion, marketing, and the most important part of our job, WRITING, many of us just can’t find the strength to check and answer asks during our limited free time. Please understand that we have days where we literally get off a plane, visit and speak at multiple schools, before heading to speak/signing event that evening. Free time on days like that is spent eating, showering, sleeping, putting our faces on, and psyching up to talk to dozens of strangers. All to do it again the next day.

Please understand answering asks is done in our free time, when we are not working. You are not entitled to my time just like I’m not entitled to yours. And at the end of the day, I’m sure most of you would prefer I work faster than “take a little time off to answer questions.
I really love answering asks and interacting with readers - luckily Tumblr makes it easy for a shy gal like me. Again, I welcome you to see how many questions I answer and how much of my time I spend on here with my lovely readers.

Edit: I realize this is a single person’s opinion and 99.9% of the YA community are precious gemstones. Love to you all! ]

Ah. It just so rubs me the wrong way. Especially the bit at the end where she's all like: I hate you little unimportant people but buy my books so I can take more vacations kay?

I hate it when authors complain about being published and that it's a tonne of work? When the alternative is digging ditches or jackhammering tiles off a bathroom I'd much rather being doing her version of "hard" work. And psyching yourself to meet people - you walk in, you say Hi, you talk about how amazing you are and then it's finished. What exactly is hard about that?

And you're right Chelsea. This book also has huge similarities to Pierce's book Red Rising are all there - if this book gets a movie deal before Pierce's is finalized then I know it will torpedo his film's chances of being successful. They'll all just think he plagiarised off of her, which is just plain wrong.

❤︎ ⸆⸉ Chelsea. Thank you Jane, Alice and Jamie. Alicia, I would never contact this author. The writing becomes a little insulting when they are forcing sequels out of a story that could have wrapped up in 1-2 books. Sometimes it's like we should be paid to READ them. Danielle Paige for example, there's like 7-8 little novellas for her four part book series about oz. it just gets worse and worse. Just stop.

If red rising is good I'll read it now. Thanks for that comparison.

SucKS. As long as we find out why there is a war and why people have red vs silver bloodles I guess it's okay, I just keep thinking of x-men where they tell you it's mutant genes in this story you have no idea why everything is happening

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Plus don't be like the selection where it hinted at the North rebellion but never got into why they were stealing books

Lauren Please don't rate before you read it.

❤︎ ⸆⸉ Chelsea. lauren I'll control my urge to rate unreleased books when you control your urge to tell others what to do. What do you think?

You're also welcome to read it and correct me if I was wrong.

Elizabeth Completely agree, started reading the series November 2016 on the belief that it was a trilogy, can you say broken promises

Diana Maybe everyone should consider reading the 3rd book now that its out, before rating a book that isnt out yet. There is a reason why this series is so long, and you will see in the third book. I personally like that its not a trilogy, otherwise the author would have had to rush everything. Also people shouldn't be surprised that there is a 4th book, considering it was announced right after the 1st book came out.

I've already replied to two other people that I would be reading the full series, I just voiced my opinion early. Maybe you should have glanced at the comments before you made one.

message 16: by Andy (new) - rated it 3 stars

Andy I don't mind you rating this early. I actually just found out it would be 4 books....so late to this party. As much as I did not enjoy the ending of the 3rd book, it seemed final. Don't listen to these people telling you not to rate it; it's not like you can't change it later.

I didn't like the third book at all - I almost did and then it switched to another character's point of view - another 'new blood' and I lost interest. I skipped all of her chapters.

message 18: by Alyssa (new) - added it

Alyssa Hernandez There is every reason for this to be dragged into 4 books. And I hope it's more. The only thing I dislike is that I wasn't able to go in the book and make Cal step on a Lego for being an idiot

message 19: by Amy (new) - added it

Amy Shrek You're just as bad as the people who haven't read it and are rating it 5 stars.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

*thank god for free audiobooks* 😂
I'm not wasting my time reading her books anymore

Antonella's book world I can't get people like you, like really. You didn't like the other books? Get over it, don't keep on criticize the author and rate a book that HASN?T EVEN BEEN RELEASED YET.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't get people like you. If you don't like her review or my comment get over it (: have a nice day buddy

How does either rating effect you. Get a grip.

Or what? You'll whine in caps? K.

Alyssa Comeau Rating an unreleased book 5 stars is annoying, but rating an unreleased book 1 star is annoying and petty. Ugh.

Ugh! You are so mind numbingly annoying. Ugh. The way you just ignored two whole years of comments to make your own. I mean just ugh. What a bubble head. Ugh.

message 27: by McCaid (new)

McCaid Paul I'm sorry but don't rate books you haven't already read

message 29: by Emma (new)

Emma I'm one of those guilty people who has rated the next book in a series I like 5 stars! This series I liked the 1st book a lot, the 2nd was OK, but the 3rd I couldn't finish. Too boring, I was uninterested.

message 30: by Nancy (new)

Nancy 😂😂 you’re such an asshole, but in a good way.

Christa Obligatory don't rate books you haven't already read!

Don’t make the same comment 12 other people have made ! I rated it. Get over it.

message 33: by Amy (new) - added it

Amy Shrek LOL I never said any rating affects me. All I said was rating it before you even read it is just... no.

Christa Katara, do you not understand sarcasm? LOL

❤︎ ⸆⸉ Chelsea. No updates on how amazing the book is huh? I'm shocked....
