Just imagine........you're 13 years old......you're riding shotgun in a Cessna......your pilot is suddenly unconscious. What do you do?

After the crash, young Brian Robeson has a big problem, much bigger than his secret. In shock, without food or water and alone in the north woods of Canada, he had only his wits and a hatchet as survival tools.

Brian comes face-to-face with some pretty scary and dangerous creatures of the night.....and day....that made for a great learning experience for him, and a few Oh No! moments for this reader. The constant swarms of mosquitos and black flies alone would have done me in, not to mention the skunk and black bear encounters.....just to name a few.

I really would have loved this story as a youngster and even enjoyed it as an oldster. Great "children's" adventure/survival story!

Unsolved ☕︎ Mystery This sounds so good. I love survival type stories. =)

Fun read!

Linda I'd recommend it for young teens. I had a friend who's son was in danger of not passing from 4th to 5th grade (so, about 10 yrs old). I let him choose the book we were to work on together. He chose this one, because they had heard part of it on tape in class. Pretty tough for a youngster, because it's all interior monologue-so, pretty dense.

Unsolved ☕︎ Mystery I don't know any 10 year olds. Lol

As long as it's not too childish, I'll read anything. =)

I love the movie Blue Lagoon. Anything where people are trapped and have to make due with whatever they have.

My favorites as a kid included the Boxcar Children-same reason. I just would think twice about reading this with a young kid, for those who are looking

Unsolved ☕︎ Mystery I remember reading Boxcar Children but can't remember details. Good memories.

Kind of like you said, They were orphans and lived in an old train car near the city dump, and made do with whatever they could find. Ate on mismatched dishes, etc. Will have to re-read these. Of course, lol, what does it say about me that I loved books where kids were left on their own/no parents!?

Unsolved ☕︎ Mystery Same with me, I need to read them.

Maybe you want to make sure they will be alright on their own? I think that is the instinct we all have, making sure people are going to be okay, In books and in life. =)

I know I wouldn't want to make due with what I have, which isn't much.....Scared thinking about it.

When I think of it, that may have been about the time a parent became terminally ill, but no one was talking about it yet...so maybe there was something subconscious there, maybe I needed to make sure that I would be okay, lol!

Unsolved ☕︎ Mystery How many did you read?

Can't remember, probably read them when I was 7 or 8. Don't remember there being so many, maybe two or three at the time. I could be wrong--that was, um, just a couple of years ago! :D

Unsolved ☕︎ Mystery Lol, I also remember reading Trixie Beldon. My Mom said she read those. I don't remember any details about those either.....That was many moons ago. =)

Did you read Trixie Beldon?

Ha! Not me, lol......I had two older brothers that were always taking me to scary monster movies and such.....probably why I'm a big Stephen King fan. :-)

I blame my fan condition on my elder siblings, as well! They simply passed me their copies of his novels!

Nice Linda!

Caitlin Personally I did not enjoy the book that much but you made the review catchy and smart. If I hadn't already read the book, I totally would if after reading this review. Keep up the great work!!!

aj The pilot didn't fall unconscious. He had a heart attack and died.

I doubt the spoiler depends on whether he died or fell unconscious . . . But I suppose that works. Sorry for the correction.

Jessie H. I agree with you because I thought the same idea when I first started to read the book, and as you keep on reading it you just get emerged into the book and it won't let you you put it down.
