Geeeeez.
This was quite the YA train wreck.
And I probably should have known better.
But, I saw this on the library shelf...its protective and majestic plastic library jacket just gleaming with promises of fantastical wonder...and I was drawn in like the total sucker I am.
But then reality hit.
Sigh.
This thing was about 100 pages too long...while still simultaneously feeling like it was 100 pages too short of actual information.
You know, "INFORMATION," AKA...
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS GOING ON
The "mystery" of what/who Daniel and all the other keys players in this thing are were withheld until the last 30 pages of this 420+ page jackfest, and not only that, but I felt like we were moving at the pace of molasses.
High viscous molasses.
Traveling uphill.
On carpet.
I mean FUCK, come on.
I don't know if I should beat my own ass for starting this...
Beat my own ass even harder for finishing this...
Or just call it a day and straight off myself over the fact that I am actually considering reading book two.

I want to watch the movie! I loved the books but it was years ago (pre-ŷ). Enjoy Val ;-)
I'm not YA's fan but I can see you read them sometimes. Try Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder. Many of my friends here like it:)

I agree with Cyndi unfortunately. I really enjoyed the first book. The second one was not as great (I wanted more Cam and he was hardly in it), the third one even less so because it jumped around so much. By the fourth book I was so disappointed in how the story had gone that even the awesome ending barely redeemed it. Still, the overall concept is cool, very different from anything else out there. The writing flows, making it an easy read, and the covers are some of my faves. Pluses and minuses lol.
I always see this and love the cover, but something holds me from starting it xo

That was a funny review, made me smile. The movie is the same, confusing too. Until you finish the series, this feeling in the first book is going to linger until the last book. I tortured myself finishing this series though.
