4,5/5 stars. What a brilliant, complex, and haunting novel! Who exactly is Rebecca? Is she truly gone from Manderly? And much can we trust our naive, shy narrator? I have to let this simmer for a while, but this certainly is a beautiful gothic story.

Quotes Puck Liked

Daphne du Maurier
“I wondered how many people there were in the world who suffered, and continued to suffer, because they could not break out from their own web of shyness and reserve, and in their blindness and folly built up a great distorted wall in front of them that hid the truth.”
Daphne du Maurier, Rebecca
