There was supposed to be another pentalogy to wrap everything up. Zelazny died before he wrote it. Hunt down Amber short stories: they clarify some of the events in the end of this book.

I didn't know that, but it was obvious that he wanted to write more stories. Thank you, Evgeny. I'll have to find that book.
You best chance would be either to get Manna from Heaven which includes these stories, or Seven Tales in Amber: Stories from the Chronicles of Amber Saga.

now I want to read the short stories as well. but I think this unclarity was the point of all of the books, so no complaints there
