I have decided to re-red/read all of Stephen Kings works in publication order and the journey begins here: I first read Carrie when I was in school and also being bullied I remember reading this and thinking maybe my school experience wasn’t so bad but also thinking I wish I was Carrie!

This book had all my attention when I first read it and the second/third read wasn’t much different is this one of my favourite Stephen King books? YES but so many are! You rarely read a book where you are rooting for the ‘Villain if you can really call her that! She is the victim and she gets her own back and there is nothing more satisfying.

"She did not know if her gift came from the lord of light or of darkness, and now, finally finding that she didn't care which, she wad overcome with almost indescribable relief, as if a huge weight, long carried, had slipped from her shoulders."

"They were still all beautiful and there was still enchantment and wonder, but she had crossed a line and now the fairy tale was green with corruption and evil."

The people who said the schools days were the best years of your life were the popular kids!

Stephen King really knows how to build a character and Carrie is a perfect example of this, even though this book is fairly short he make the reader feel like they have known Carrie all their life and maybe we all know a Carrie.

This book make us re-evaluate ourselves and those around us and shows us that we never truly know a person behind closed doors. This book is heart-breaking, thought-provoking and horrifying. I also loved a book with mixed media like: news article clipping, interviews and book quotations which Stephen King uses so well.

The only reason this isn't a five star for is because the pacing is a little slow - but I understand that this is done to make for a dramatic ending. Also there aren't chapters in this book it just has two parts which can make even a small book daunting.

Nick Great review Lucy. Sorry to hear that you were bullied at school. Why?!? I can never understand why people treat others like that. Being kids isn't an excuse.

I am very guilty of thinking and saying that your school days are the best days of your life. This is because I am a mid aged man celebrating nostalgia. Although it does have a ring of truth but as you say while not a popular kid I was never bullied.

Yes, mainly for being a nerd/emo haha! I guess I was a 'fat' kid too but there is never an excuse for it - I wouldn't go back to school in a hurry and this is one of the reasons this book really spoke to me! I mean if I had Carrie's powers I think my high school prom might of ended the same! haha!
